£59 for that hemming is crap. It almost looks as though they have forgotten to hem it up again if that makes sense (doesn't look there is actually a hem). I'll check mine when I get back and see if it looks the same.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/09/2018 14:08

That would be really helpful Ella. Actually though, looking at my ditsy print Florence, it is beautifully made in comparison. Even the lining is a gorgeous silky fabric. Very poor. I also just think there response will be 'Its a different skirt' Easy to say because they have named it differently. I was going to get the floral one, but no way now if that's meant to be the hem. Whats worse is that it is splitting at the side hem, which means it will get worse! Its a delicate fabric but it should be robust. I haven't even washed it yet! I tend to not overly wash things like skirts as they don't get sweaty.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/09/2018 14:10

I would imagine they will refund me. If it isn't meant to be like that, they may replace it which I would be fine about but when I go on to the website, the hem looks the same when I zoom in so I reckon yours will be the same. I am pretty gutted as I loved it.

miffy2 · 14/09/2018 16:12

That’s awful about the hem.

The quality is definitely going downhill and fast.

I got my brandalley order today, finally.

The metallic star trainers are a lovely fit. I may well replace the sparkly laces though as they are a tad overkill for me at 49!
The light grey/pink love stack sweater is perfect. I got large and am happy as the style is quite a heat fit and I wanted it a bit sloppy. Still not the longest in the body though.

ilovecherries · 14/09/2018 16:47

Yes, the hem on mine me was like that as well, never. And have I mentioned that I’m seething about my Kensington. Wink.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/09/2018 16:49

Well you know about the buttons on mine...but a hole in it is unacceptable.

EdinaMonsoon · 14/09/2018 17:09

I was just coming on to say that having been really disappointed with Hush for the last year, I browsed the selection in John Lewis and came away with two new things, having been impressed with the upward turn in quality. And in fact, have several items now on my Wishlist. Sorry to hear some of you have not had such great experience.

I'm impressed with the decrease in polyester for their skirts, tops & dresses. Much prefer viscose.

I bought the Star Applique sweat which is so gorgeously soft & cosy. And unlike most Hush sweatshirts it is actually a decent body length rather than cropped. Also bought the Emmanuelle dress . It's knee length on me (5'6"). I wore it to a party on Saturday and got lots of compliments. Great for daytime too, dressed down with biker boots or even over jeans (it buttons through from top/bottom).

Neveradullmoment that skirt is definitely not hemmed! I have a leopard print version from a couple of years ago and it definitely has a proper pin hem.

Inforthelonghaul · 14/09/2018 18:19

Thanks teta I think I’ll have another look as I love a cashmere jumper.
miffy 49 here too and loving my star trainers sparkly laces and all, though I could have got away with a size smaller but had no idea about fit.
The only thing I’ve bought recently that I haven’t worn are the black and white Amie joggers that were reduced to £15. In the pictures they look really good on everyone but they just don’t look right on me. Such a shame as I do like them but the harems fit me much better.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 14/09/2018 18:28

I’ve just discovered that Hush is now in the John Lewis in York and it looks like a big range Smile

Ellapaella · 14/09/2018 18:43

@neveradullmoment99 mine is the same. No hem! I'm going to email them. £59 for an unhemmed skirt!

neveradullmoment99 · 14/09/2018 19:07

Definitely email @Ella. I think its a disgrace. It is definitely not a hem but I fear they may say that this is 'the style'' However it is not the style for it to fray and unstitch at the side seam. Totally unacceptable.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/09/2018 19:08

I have sent them a few pictures and tbh, its just not on.

AFingerofFudge · 14/09/2018 19:25

laska thanks for those links, I love those first brogues! Still at work and having my first mini break of the day so will look properly tonight when I get home.

As we're slightly falling out of love with Hush ( due to their poor quality in the most part) maybe we have "Hush and Other Stories" as a thread title next time Grin

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 14/09/2018 19:30

Actually it was really interesting looking at the clothes ‘in real life’ in York today. I’m pretty sure it was Soy who’d previously posted a link to some woman’s blog with Hush clothes and the multi coloured striped jumper caught my eye in that, but looking at it today I would query spending £40 for it, let alone the £110 they wanted. They also had the grey /blue star biker sweater; I only got mine this time last year and looking at it today, it was easily made of a much thinner fabric.... . Shame as I do like the Hush style of clothes but not that much to put up with nonsense.

Laska5772 · 14/09/2018 20:10

inforthelonghaul i have several pairs of the black and white Amies which I have dyed ! they have all come out really well. PM me if you want tips and photos (or if they are XS and you'd like to sell them - id love to do another pair burgundy!) .

ilovecherries · 14/09/2018 20:14

Oops, well since I got dd to send my zebra skirt back, I have also bought the oasis zebra skirt from ebay. Size 14 but as Laska said, it’s better if it sits a bit lower on my hips. Should be there by the time I get home. I’ve also just been reading Mid Life Chic’s post about colour trends, and I think I’d like to start playing more with colour this season. Now I’ve sorted some wearable basics, I’d like to be a bit more adventurous. But I don’t think my skin tone can take a lot of contrast, so not sure exactly where to start.

Inforthelonghaul · 14/09/2018 20:30

Laska I think it’s the actual shape of them that doesn’t suit me and they are a bit too short. Unfortunately I think I bought an S as I’ve never been an XS anywhere before so it would never occur to me to buy that size. I think I will have to sell them though as they’re annoying me every time I see them.

I do need to take my wide jersey tops back to JL and hopefully swap them for XS though. I bought them in an S as I normally like my tops baggier but these are just huge with very slim arms and although they look fab on other posters I think I would regret it if I took the labels off.

Laska5772 · 15/09/2018 08:07

How funny that several of us have bought that (old) Oasis skirt!! all due to Porpoise being frugal and not ordering the Hush zebra one!

Its so rubbish to see old favourites going downhill. someone on another S&B thread about where to buy quality clothes has called Hush stuff as looking like Primark quality.. I think she may be having a point , esp in regard to what never and cherries has just experienced.. I would be sad if Hush continue to lose their edge.

BUT I'm even having a bit of a snit with John Lewis ,their price match guarantee. and their 'customer service'...

They are selling this fat face cardi for a lot more than fat face are much cheaper here. When i queried it they gave me back the difference minus what Fat face would charge for delivery!.

At the mo.I am waiting on them actually giving me the whole difference back ( as they have now said they would as a (goodwill gesture!!) or i will be sending it plus my yellow jumper and some other stuff i have recently bought from them all back!. ..

Despite my query they still haven't changed the price I note, so it would make sense to check prices, before ordering any of their concessions I think.. not impressed.

JL has been my favourite store forever. half my house furnished has been by them.. But they may lose me over a mean attitude and £2.95 if they are not careful..

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 08:30

My Stella Star tee has come apart on the stitching in the arm. I never emailed them so must remember to do that today. I've only worn it a handful of times really.
I have to say I'm in agreement that the quality is not great. My star fray jeans have also started to 'fray' a large gap in one of the stars on the bum. Luckily I have a second pair and to be fair I've worn them to death but still.. they were £79 when I paid for them, I'd expect them to last a couple of years, not one summer!
Feeling a bit disillusioned.. is Hush all fur coat and no knickers I ask myself? Nice to look at but no substance.
Sigh...

ilovecherries · 15/09/2018 09:14

I think there’s a lot of variability in the quality of hush clothing, as with most retailers, I guess. Harems, Amies, Winona trousers, Marina skirts etc I’ve worn loads, and they come up like new. That Hortensia shirt has been very forgiving of a fair bit of mistreatment, and hasn’t shrunk at all. Then other stuff you just need to look at and it’s falling apart.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 09:30

Well i agree that its not all their things that are poorly made. I think its the hike in price coupled with the poor quality and i do wish they wouldnt use so much polyester but i see loads of retailers using this material and charging ridiculous prices. I have the stella tee ( in pink and red) and have worn mine quite a bit but its still fine so quality seems to be variable with individual items too. I havent had any response yet. Hopefully next week. I have ordered the tansy dress, the zebra dress and the teal print skirt. Will report when they come. I do love hush but they really neef to look at quality control.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 09:35

I seem to have missed out on the oasis zebra skirt. Will look out for one like it. Bit worried its too short for me anyway.
I got a lovely pinafore dress from asda in a sweet check print @ £16! Had it on yesterday. Will post a photo. Also got a tesco f&f catalogue through and they have a gorgeous tartan coat comin in stock in October so going to lookbout for that.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 09:37

Sorry about the mirror. Bloody kids!!

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 11:13

I saw that coat in the Tesco catalogue never - it's really nice and quite a reasonable price. Did you get the £5 voucher too? It's annoying you can't buy online anymore as it means you're at the mercy of the sizes they have in store.
