Flowers MrsL is there a trolley selling Gin?

You can play online and it lets you know when you have fecked up, good luck.

Hi!
I was on here several threads ago but dropped off, thought I’d dip back in again.
I received a perfume for my birthday at the beginning of the month, In Full Bloom by Kate Spade... aunt purchased it before she (Spade) died. Smells v nice although haven’t worn it yet.
I found four scents online that I liked the sound of, then tested them all IRL. Only disliked one. They were Lancôme Ô de Lancôme, Ô de L’Orangerie by same, DKNY Be Delicious and DKNY Be Tempted. The one I didn’t like was Ô de Lancôme. I tend to like fruity/citrus/floral scents.
Ones I have: a Chloé one (can’t tell which, it was a present), In Full Bloom, Coach EdP (I think?) and Clarins Eau des Jardins.

SOTD is fairly easy to work out Grin

MrsLucas · 24/07/2018 08:52

Did finally make it off that train Smile.

SotD Killer Rose - should've nabbed some of this when it was SotW.

MrsLucas · 24/07/2018 08:55

Adora - I am still intrigued by your Lancome limited edition from 2000 - what was it?

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/07/2018 09:01

Yes, at times I do feel as if my penchant for weird niche scents leads me up the garden path somewhat Grin

Anyway sanity is restored this morning with a hefty slug of Au Coeur du Desert, again. After spending a day with this yesterday I am starting to wonder if I actually prefer it, very very slightly, to LADDM. There's very little to separate the two but this is less dry and dusty, a little softer and fuller. Whatever, I long for a Tauer FB; I want to hold those lovely blue bottles in my hand. Swoon.

The heating was on in my train this morning. Unbelievable. I'm surprised no one collapsed.

PlausibleSuit · 24/07/2018 10:59

SOTD is Hermes Eau des Merveilles Bleue. I feel like I'm surrounded in my own little cloud of oceany coolness.

I think I'm going to alternate between this and Mary Greenwell Lemon exclusively until this stinking hot weather abates.

Although, a quick shout-out for Prada Luna Rossa Black. I had a sample and it's absolutely marvellous. For those of you who aren't bothered about which sex a fragrance is marketed to - most of us, I'd imagine - it's well worth a sniff. Amber, sweetness, a little leather, bergamot. Really lovely (although not for this heat).

CountFosco · 24/07/2018 13:16

SotD Fleur de Sel. I'm wearing a thin cotton shirt dress from Zara and still sweating buckets. Heaven knows how you lot down south are coping, I'd forgotten summers could be like this! Think Plausible is right, only some perfumes chypres can cope with this weather and there's no point trying anything else because they disappear in seconds. Or you go cheap and cheerful so you are happy to spray with abandon!

Motoko · 24/07/2018 13:43

I bought a 20ml bottle of Primark's Mandarin and Basil to fulfil the "spray with abandon, cheap and cheerful" option, at the weekend. They're doing quite a few perfumes now, so worth checking out. Aren't some of them meant to be dupes? The one I got has a J. Malone vibe to the packaging.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/07/2018 13:49

SOTD is M&M Florentyna White Flowers. A most excellent cheapie. I think it was around £12 for the 100ml bottle and I really do love it. It doesn't smell cheap either which is a definite bonus! A little goes a long way as well so a large bottle lasts for absolutely ages

MrsLucas · 24/07/2018 19:15

Plausible - have you tried Luna Rossa Sport? It gets great - reviews (have it my SA queue).

MrsLucas · 24/07/2018 19:15

Sorry that hyphen was too eager to get into that sentence.

MsJacksonIfUrNasty · 24/07/2018 20:20

Limited to the few perfumes I hastily threw in my bag for our south coast break. Tonight I’m wearing a CLEAN fragrance - Summer Sailing. Ozonic, melon - notes I usually hate. But it’s very refreshing. Body spray territory but I am in such a perfume rut lately. Good for my bank balance, though. No desire for any new treats.

Calmanddance · 24/07/2018 22:04

I’ve been trying all sorts of perfume to try and get something that lasts a bit longer than a couple of hours in this heat - upper 20s, sometimes 30 degrees - where I am. At various times I’ve worn Rochas Tocadilly (90s lilac fresh floral), Tommy Girl (citrussy fresh floral with honeysuckle), Altaia Yu Son (mandarin and green tea), Miller Harris Cassis En Feuille (sharp green blackcurrant and tomato leaves) and L’Artisan Parfumeur Mure et Musc (soft blackberry and musk). They were all short-lived although the Mure et Musc stayed as quite a persistent skin scent. The stronger, spicier perfumes do last longer, but I don’t always want to wear them when it’s hot.

MrsLucas · 24/07/2018 23:00

Have just been reading LT on Tommy Girl. All about the tea apparently?

MrsLucas · 24/07/2018 23:02

Suffolk Lavender is quite good in the heat - the lavender and melon are cool and fresh enough to off-set the incense.

Judydreamsofhorses · 24/07/2018 23:09

SOTD was JHAG Mad Madame for a haircut and a pedicure. I got ready too quickly after the pedicure and knackered it a bit, but it was free with Aveda treat points, so no great loss. A lady stopped me in the street after I left the salon to say how good my hair was, which was so nice.

SOTE is Caldey Island Lavender. I slept so badly last night (this stupid on/off cold, and hot, and pre-menstrual) so hoping it will help tonight.

PlausibleSuit · 25/07/2018 06:47

MrsL Luna Rossa Sport is on my list too. I've tried Carbon, and really liked that (in the end; I wasn't bananas about the opening but it settled really nicely).

I've been rather impressed with Prada fragrances actually. I also liked Prada Amber Pour Homme when I tried it.

PlausibleSuit · 25/07/2018 08:16

SOTD has ended up being Ferrari Radiant Bergamot.

Calmanddance · 25/07/2018 14:22

MrsLucas, Tommy Girl is indeed meant to have tea notes, but I can’t smell any tea at all! The reviews on Fragrantica and Basenotes are quite mixed in how they describe it. I’m not alone in missing the tea note. There are a lot of notes listed on Fragrantica, but the only ones I can pick out are citrus, blackcurrant leaves and honeysuckle. It has a very refreshing sour fruity note which I love, but the whole thing doesn’t last more than 3 hours.

I followed Tommy Girl earlier on with Bloom Berry Cassis & Fig, a short lived but pleasant blackcurrant and grassy figleaf mix. It was a bargain ~£4 in Superdrug a while ago, a dupe of a Jo Malone, I believe.

MrsLucas · 25/07/2018 20:34

Now in Chant D'Aromes scratching a honeysuckle itch I've caught from Calm and her Tommy Girl description.

XingMing · 25/07/2018 21:28

hot weather seems to induce perfume denial in me... I stop wanting to think about it, so have have several unscented days.

XingMing · 25/07/2018 21:28

...have had... duh

UnnecessaryFennel · 25/07/2018 21:41

Today has been a rose day.

Penhaligon's The Coveted Duchess Rose wasn't doing a lot for me first thing, so I layered with Papillon's Tobacco Rose. By the middle of the day the heat had done its thing and I topped up with Rose Silence.

I may be slightly pre-menstrual, btw Grin

Calmanddance · 25/07/2018 22:07

Xing, I’ve had several days where I was just too hot and sunscreen-slippy to bother with perfume, even a light one. But today I’ve tried several, none of which has quite worked in this heat. SOTN was Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel. I smell like a salty mud-flat, but it’s strangely compelling!

MrsLucas, I can send you a sample of the Tommy Girl if you like? I would be very interested to know if you “get” the tea. (I think I might have a rummage around my perfumes/samples tomorrow and try some where I know I can smell tea!). I also have a bottle of Yves Rocher Chevrefeuilles, a very pleasant honeysuckle, although it only lasts an hour or two on me, and can send a sample of this?
