OneNight did you try any more of the PP Lush ones? I haven't smelt Death and Decay in RL but reading the notes I'm really really hoping it smells like Penhaligon's Lily and Spice which was very funeral like. Another bloody discontinued one! Avobath PP dupe is amazing.

Any reports on the PP By the Fireplace? I haven't tried this in RL either. I was worried about the ham smell, does anyone remember the similar one we tried in those sample boxes? Like a frankfurter in a leather jacket.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/09/2018 16:34

fluffy i tried the dupes for Karma, lust, death and decay, sikkim girls and sex bomb and they are all pretty spot on likeness wise for the originals. I really love death and decay, i so wish i'd tried it when the actual lush version was available!

FluffyHairedFloofyCat · 18/09/2018 16:41

Gah posted too soon. Not finished my rambling Grin

Teta eBay seems to have gone to absolute shit atm, specially with the new app. When i list it defaults automatically to accept offers (even on auctions?!) and first class postage plus international - none of which I offer! It's driving me round the bend, so perhaps other unlucky sellers have been caught out too and buyers assume offers are the norm now?

Welcome back any new/returning Perfumistas and plausible I read your post as you buying 20 T Shirts at Dior and was a bit ShockGrin

Fennel I've tried Hypnotic Poison and liked it (it's right up my street though due to the almond) but thought there were better options which were better value for money (Kenzo Amour and the PP dupe of Mandorlo di Sicilia for starters). The Hyp Poison was yummy but not delicious enough for a FB at those prices, unlike a scent which blows your socks off so much you'd pay it, if that makes sense.

Please forgive any spelling errors etc, btw, bit tired and under the weather.

And onenight I've just realised you've already posted about Death and Decay. Sorry! Are the lillies front and centre or is it just white flowers, do you think? I love lillies and wish I could have them in my house but the other FloofyCat which lives here can't have them! Why is lillies coming up underlined btw, am I spelling it wrong?! Maybe I should retire to Netmums now I have lost my SPaG Wink

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/09/2018 17:08

fluffy i think the lillies are front and centre though there is other white flowers there too. I definitely KNOW its lillies in the starring role, if you know what i mean? TBf the pp prices are cheap enough that i'd say give it a shot, it's cheap enough that you wouldn't weep over it if it isn't quite what you're looking for Grin

SotE is vintage Dioressence . Thank you for spotting this Express - very pleased to have a little bottle of mossy musky gorgeousness.

Outdoor was a bit screechy for my taste - Indoors I like better.

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/09/2018 22:04

SOTD L’Air de Rien.

floofy MMM Fireplace does NOT smell of ham! (If it did, my not-so-floofy-cat would be all over me.)

UnnecessaryFennel · 19/09/2018 07:09

The frankfurter-smelling scent was the Ruth Mastenbroek one. Awful (imho).

SOTD is Sybarite by Cloon Keen Atelier. It's a nice-enough sandalwood but tbf I was expecting something a little more... luscious.

Safari is marvellous. Kills at 20 paces, but marvellous nonetheless. Reminds me of meeting up with my Mum at Meadowhall in the early 90s and going to House of Fraser to squirt things.

I am in Superdrug Bloom Mandarin, Lime, Basil. (we are still very much in citrus-needing hot weather here) and yesterday (spot a theme) was in Eau du Sud.

MrsL- glad you like the Dioressence. I did a bit of a stocktake yesterday and am down to 1 x 10ml bottle of Dioressence, 4 x 10 ml bottles of Diorella, 1 x 10ml of Dior Dior, 1 x 10ml of Diorling and about 8 of varying vintages and sizes of Miss Dior. Diorama eludes me still. Humph.

Outdoors almost starts off with strong synthetic coconut to me, which I know isn't there!

I get that a bit as well, I wonder what it is? I like coconut though so it's not a problem for me!

SOTD Bronnley Wild Green. Cheap as chips from Boots and spicy woody green comfort perfume. Easy for work and good while the wind blows outside.

Flightywoman · 19/09/2018 14:06

My 10ml Miss Dior has arrived and my heart leapt when I smelt it again! I must dig out a silk shirt and put some on.

Meantime SotD is Dioressence. I nearly bought some on eBay the other day before remembering that actually I still have about 30ml left.

So I need to hunt down some La Prairie Life Threads Platinum instead. I'm definitely all out of that!

And I think I need some Rive Gauche...

AnythingButMagnolia · 19/09/2018 19:48

I used to adore Safari. No idea it was still available

MrsLucas · 19/09/2018 21:36

BBQ/Frankfurter debate - have tried Firedance and Another Kiss tonight - both smoked wood roses. Both have a big leather (birch?) note and I think our brains spot the connection between that tanned hide smell, and cured meat, even if in day to day life these live in very different 'use' categories? Hope that makes sense?

Firedance is a more closely, knitted structure - it almost buzzes and crackles to start with - a hint of smoky bacon crisps? AKbyF has a more open and slightly softer texture, although the geranium is quite strident in the early minutes. Think they both have a savoury quality.

MrsLucas · 19/09/2018 22:00

Off to order the PP MMM Fireplace, plus PP Gauche.

Got a Donna Karan cashmere sweater for less than a fiver on eBay today (had been accidentally listed in perfume).

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/09/2018 22:07

SOTD JHAG Mad Madame. So pleased the PP Fireplace is a success, mrsR. I feel slightly proud for enabling you.
