Hi Japonica - it turns up regularly on eBay although not cheap. Think it was briefly reissued by Lancome in a Millennium set, but could be wrong....

Thanks MrsLucas, I've seen the original and reissue, both at astronomical prices.

Can anyone recommend Dioressence? I'd love to find a dupe, think a trip to John Lewis or Debenhams is in order.

If you want the original Dioressence, you need ebay. The reformulation is a nice enough perfume, but nothing like the original.

I can certainly recommend it Grin It's one of my desert island top 10s, but only the old juice.

JaponicaMarguerite · 16/09/2018 15:37

Thank you for the further recommendations, I'll check them out Smile.

Given that I'm looking for something very specific, I reckon I will need testers or a visit to a real store.

This may be a stupid question, but can I get testers online? I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

MrsLucas · 16/09/2018 17:11

Japonica - there's one on at the moment for £45 incl postage if you are quick!

MrsLucas · 16/09/2018 17:11

Sikkim ...sorry, more haste etc etc.

MrsLucas · 16/09/2018 17:30

Check feedback though...

JaponicaMarguerite · 16/09/2018 18:37

Thanks again MrsLucas, although I think I may be too late, as I can't see anything.

I'm wondering if I should look at something that contains Oud, the Sikkim fragrance is very heavy and rich. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

MrsLucas · 16/09/2018 19:08

Here

JaponicaMarguerite · 16/09/2018 19:46

Mmmm. I'm not sure if that is the 1971 vintage version or not, so I've messaged the seller. Will see what they say Smile.

I've been lurking on here for a while, and just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading this thread! I've never been that interested in perfumes and I always seemed to end up with fruity floral stuff that wasn't right on me. I came across you all a couple of months ago and have picked up loads of ideas and finally found lots of stuff that I like. Oud, booze, smoke and spice are good; figgy scents also a yes, and I love a good rose.

I haven't got a lot at the moment; Tom Ford- Noir Extreme, and Oud Wood, and Diptyque Geranium Odorata. I love all of these but I want moooorreeee!

Husband and I had a trip to Liberty yesterday, and I had a list as long as my arm of things I wanted to try. Spent a good hour pottering about and fell head over heels for Nasomatto Baraonda- like bathing in warm Jack Daniels in front of a fire while a fruit cake bakes. This will be mine for my birthday next month Grin

Others I really liked- Frederic Malle Noir Epices, Fracas, DS & Durga- Bowmakers and Debaser, Diptyque Tempo (already hankering after Philosykos as well but will wait till next summer). A few of the Byredo and Le Labo were quite nice but didn't really grab me enough. There were hundreds I didn't try of course, but we're in London a couple of times a month so another sniffing session is imminent. I especially want to try MM By The Fireplace- sounds like it'll be right up my street.

Thanks Mrsr8 , I've just bookmarked that one. Payday next week so might order a sample of each to try out.

I'm keeping an eye on Feelunique, as they've had some of the MMM samples in the £3.95 sample pick 'n' mix. Tried Jazz Club which was lovely but it didn't seem to last very long.

cantbelieve - Debaser is a huge favourite of mine, but it's insanely expensive! I love a good fig scent.

If you like the 'smoky, boozy fruitcake' vibe you could also give 4160s Captured by Candlelight a try - it's in the same sort of vein as By The Fireplace and Another Kiss by the Fireside.

MrsLucas · 16/09/2018 21:53

Welcome Cantbelieve - funnily enough the perfect boozy smoky fruitcake is one of my long term quests. Captured by Candlelight is a bit too upper register for me.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 17/09/2018 06:40

Morning oh fragrant friends- can someone dig out the PP Chanel dupe name list? There is another thread with people wanting to find them. I thought I had copied it into a doc but apparently not. Does anyone have it to hand?

FluffyHairedFloofyCat · 17/09/2018 07:35

Ha, I have been reading but no time to post due to life being SNAFU, but I always have time to find a list Grin

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/09/2018 07:36

Etui Noir for the first day of a new academic year. I have 100 new students on my programme this morning. Wish me luck!

FluffyHairedFloofyCat · 17/09/2018 07:37

But not enough brains to attach the damn thing, clearly HmmGrin
