Judy and OneNight PM me your addresses (I know I've had yours before Judy but my inbox is clear now for some reason) and I can send you Fire and Plum samples/small decants?

I have big bottles of each so would like to share the love Smile

AdoraBell · 04/09/2018 21:14

MrsLucas I’ve just done my nails, will check the bottle once they are dry.

AdoraBell · 04/09/2018 21:47

This is the Lancôme scent MrsLucas

Thank you Adora - that gets such amazing reviews! (Great bottle too). I ask because I fell for their thing for their 1998/99 special edition, also a rose, but a spicy/smoky/fruity/incense-heavy rose. No-one else seems to have come across it - I'm on the look out for a soul mate Smile.

Lotsofpots · 05/09/2018 13:57

MrsLucas that sounds gorgeous.

Anyone around? Should I spend £15 on Lou Lou in TKMaxx or will there be too much vanilla for me?

Dowser · 05/09/2018 18:46

Sooo, I went back again today. Three days in a row
( I think me and the assistant are now in a relationship. She’s great. Got my sense of humour)

So the Plum, Fire, Lemon saga

There was a 50ml lemon EDP on display for £14-50...hmmm I got the 100 ml yesterday

She had no Fire but had the tester

Plum was the 50ml for £14-50 but there was none on display

She said I’ll have to go in the stockroom and have a root around on Friday.
I thought..get up there now missus...but restrained myself.

So, didn’t buy any more...just yet.
Will bide my time
Won’t be around next week though if she raids the stock room though

Dowser · 05/09/2018 18:47

Used to like loulou years ago but haven’t smelled it for years.

My favourite perfume assistant had me try light blue by dolce and gabbana ...that was very nice
Smells of orange

Calmanddance · 05/09/2018 18:49

Count, I don’t know. I used to wear LouLou many years ago, but have no idea if it’s changed. But the notes on Fragrantica sound interesting and £15 seems such a bargain ...

CountFosco · 05/09/2018 19:47

I bought it. Very white floral initially then it settles down. It was that or MH La Fumee Arabie or the Penhaligon Espirit du Roi. I chose the cheap option. Though reserve the right to change my mind!

Hello everyone.
Feeling absolutely knackered since going back to work! Been wearing YSL Paris this week during the day, as it’s a nostalgic scent for me, and Apres l’Ondee at night, which is lovely, cosy and dreamy.

Dowser I do like Light Blue. Always crack it out in the early summer, as it reminds me of lemonade and sunshine.

Can’t rejember what LouLou is like, but have an ancient mini bottle somewhere so will dig it out for a sniff.

AdoraBell · 05/09/2018 19:57

Currently rocking TCP. Teen DD was having trouble with recent ear piercing. TCP has got to be one of the worst smells 🤢

Before that I had Montlanc on. Can’t smell it now.

MrsLucas · 05/09/2018 22:34

Have just sniffed my vintage mini LouLou and it is a cousin of Plum (huge white flowers and plum).

TCP ha! Adora I was just reading LT saying nice things about phenols (and the old smell of British railway stations) in one of his reviews (Incendo - La Curie).

SotD is Grand Amour - bought a sample for the hyacinth and honeysuckle (and reports of (unlisted) mastic). Nice green opening, but not sure about the final stages yet.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/09/2018 22:34

floofy, that is so kind, thank you! calm, please step AWAY from the Lou Lou. It is one of my most hated smells of all time. Even in its hey day it made me feel slightly sick. Almost in Secretions Magnifique territory for me!

SOTD is 19. Dentist again, but just to get my new mouthguard. It’s a hard, lower splint this time, and quite gag-inducing. I am going to need a few nights wearing it in bursts in front of the TV before trying a whole night. I was the same with the upper one, but it was summer holidays and I was able to cope with disturbed sleep while I got used to it.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/09/2018 22:36

No! Lou Lou is nothing like Plum. Surely a very distant cousin, twice removed?

CountFosco · 05/09/2018 22:52

Sorry Judy, didn't mean to upset you with talk of perfume as scary as SM (which just smelt like oysters to me). I've not smelt MG Plum but LouLou started with tons of white flowers, that smell of lilies gone over but now is sweet and I can smell plums and a touch of vanilla. But definitely not too vanilla for me! So from the notes of Plum I can see how they might be cousins. At one point there was a cleanness to it that reminded me a bit of L'air du Temps even though they share no notes. I guess our memories all act in different ways.

Vintage hexagonal blue bottle with tall claret top? Definite family resemblance Smile.

I used to love LouLou - foolishly tried it again a while ago and either the bottle I bought had turned or it was always revolting and I didn't realise - hopefully the former as it was awful, like incense that had been dipped in toilet cleaner. I got a refund and was too scared to try again with a different bottle Grin I miss it though, I had the old school bottle with the long pointy top

On that note, I love TCP adora it reminds me of the San at school and skiving off lessons.

Judy and onenight will send off the teeny decants or Fire and Plum respectively - let us know what you think!

SOTD is very definitely Shalimar - I did that thing where you search through 8 million unlabelled samples/decants (you always put them in the drawer convinced you will know what they are - see also leftovers in the freezer) and of course the one I sprayed to check the contents, was Shalimar and it went in my face ShockGrin I've scrubbed but have a feeling I will smell it for days.

To add insult to injury, I was deliberately Perfume free as waiting for the postie to arrive with a new sample Grin Continuing the theme of the day so far, he only turned up with bills anyway!

FluffyHairedFloofyCat · 06/09/2018 11:56

Gah adora I forgot to say have you tried surgical spirit rather than TCP? DD and I have quite a few piercings between us and swear by SS for healing and/or any odd lumps or redness. Doesn't smell as nice as TCP though!

Hope it went OK Mrsr8?

That would help explain the divergent views, Floof and Mrsr8.

SotD is vintage Pino Silvestre because, tragically, I do hang on Luca Turin's every word Blush

On paper this is the cool fougere reviewers have described. Lavender and other aromatics but very clean, chilled and seamlessly blended, rather that raspily aromatic, if that makes sense?

On my skin, however, it nods towards fairly liquid (I have checked but it doesn't lather Grin). I need to try this again in the morning.
