Unfortunately

I tried the plum, which was quite nice but would’ve needed a bit less of it as it was very heavy

SOTD was 4160Tuesdays Killer Rose. It’s a beautiful rose with oomph.

Plum is my favourite of the Mary Greenwells!

Btw, Tesco are selling Lynx Fragrance for £3 instead of £6. They are strong, so you only need the tiniest bit, but are really rather good. There are three: oud wood & dark vanilla; iced musk & ginger; and tobacco & amber (my favourite). You might have to lie when people ask you what you’re wearing!

Dowser · 03/09/2018 22:11

So £14-50 was a bargain
I need to go back

MrsLucas · 03/09/2018 23:44

Bit of a thread favourite that Dowser. We cleared them out online, so you have done well to find some instore Smile. Grown-up mossy citrus.

SotD was Rome 1963, but it is so cold tonight I've broken out Eau My Soul.

Have got my hands on a paperback edition of Perfumes:The Guide 2018, and am enjoying flicking through, although this edition is full of obscure arthouse things, which is not quite as satisfying as the original, which had more household names.

I'm staying with my PILs and it's damp, and I wish I'd brought my Liz Earle no 15. So cozy.

Well, without smelling ( they had no testers) I decided to take a punt.
When I got to the store, there was a 100 ml exp and a 50ml edp
For the same price
So it was a bit of a no brainer which size I went for..

It’s nice.
It reminds me of bronnley lemon soap
The top of the box is sun damaged...but I won’t be wearing the box

Shall I go back for some Plum

Plum is interesting in an old school way. Huge white flower opening (especially tuberose and gardenia) but bound with a buttery plum that keeps peeking through, with a rasp of moss underneath.

Grown-up, womanly and almost formal. I'm not big on white flowers but I do enjoy wearing this occasionally.

CountFosco · 04/09/2018 18:38

SotE yesterday was Moth. Heavenly spicy honey and oh how I love it. Another Zoologist to add to the wishlist. This is getting expensive!

Will see tomorrow..hopefully

toffee1000 · 04/09/2018 18:41

I think I posted on here before...

My mum bought herself one of the perfumes I’ve had an eye on, and isn’t sure how it smells on her. It smells OK on me... she even said I could probably have it! It’s still “hers” right now (she’s not certain about it), but what a piece of luck! Now there are just two on my wish list as it were; I’ve tested both of them and they smell good on me.

AdoraBell · 04/09/2018 19:13

Palomo Picasso today. Had a lovely afternoon tea with DH, present from stepson.

It was cool but slightly muggy here in SW. I’ve ended up giving DD1 my worn only twice Micheal Kors shoes. Lovely dark purple heels Sad I broke both little toes last year in separate accidents and was in agony all through tea. DD is a happy bunny 👍

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/09/2018 20:04

Plum is worth a go dowser. It's (as MrsL says) a full-on, very grown-up white floral and not usually my sort of thing at all, but I secretly love it. It makes me feel like Joan Collins Grin You only need the tiniest dab so it's value for money too!

But the real star of the MG line is Fire. Fabulous dry, incensey rose. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about when I first tried it but by god it rewards perseverance.

SOTD was Alaia Paris. A dry, woody, leathery violet with incredible longevity. I put it on a 6.30am and it's still going. An underrated gem, this one.

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/09/2018 20:06

Roll on Autumn! I have so many lovely perfumey things to wear once the weather turns, I can't wait.

Plus, jumpers.

MrsLucas · 04/09/2018 20:24

Alaia is not under-rated by LT/TS Fennel, it gets a full 5*s. Smile

Hello Adora, sorry to reveal my borderline obsessive streak Blush, but I am still intrigued by your Lancome limited edition from 2000, that you were wearing around page 20? Would you put me out of my misery and tell me what it was? (Apologies if you said and I missed...).

I like Plum best at 4 hours in when the white flowers die back. Great mossy/ambery/musky base. Similarly, Fire has a great woody drydown.

I really like Plum - I actually bought it (twice) at full price, from Harvey N’s. Possibly the only person who did! I regret not having tried Fire, as it sounds right up my street. How did I miss it?

SOTD is L’Air de Rien.

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/09/2018 21:00

That's true MrsL - I suppose it just feels underrated because it's not often mentioned. It is lovely though, and often available very reasonably on ebay, for those who feel in need of a little enabling Wink. Utterly beautiful engraved glass bottle too...

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 04/09/2018 21:00

oh, i really want to try Plum then as I LOVE white flower perfumes!!! any ideas where i could get a sample size or is this goign to have to be a blind buy?!

no SOTD so far as ive been in bed most of the day as i slept awfully last night so have felt awful all day
