I love your post fluffy it pretty much summed up what I wasn't articulate enough to say myself. Imagine a load of women wearing what ever they want without subscribing to a load of imaginary rules relating to their age/weight etc etc. Furthermore I've yet to hear a man ask if he's too old to wear something!

Think my sotd is going to be MG lemon. I ordered a bottle of fire off eBay 2 days ago ages ago and it's still not been dispatched so I'm getting impatient!

3TresTrois · 23/08/2018 10:46

Fluff I really like the original Organza.its essentially a big white floral, but it has a sweet, spicy, quite animalic edge to it. Very late 80s/90s. Right up my street.

I do love Amarige 😄. Ysatis is my other big Givenchy love. If you like ylang it’s a dream. A sort of dirty, honeyed ylang, a bit of civet, very aldehydic. Beautiful.

On the whole ‘mutton’ furore: I’m actually quite a boring, classic dresser. But it enrages me when women are told what we should/shouldn’t wear based on age. I get quite sweary about it! 😆

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 23/08/2018 12:55

mutton? pffft, wear what you like and feel good in and stop judging others for doing the same. it's just clothes, why are people so bothered about what other women choose to put on their bodies?! i don't get it, i'd rather see someone wearing what they love, feel good in and like to be seen in than swathes of women all dressed identically, sensibly and boringly because its the 'done thing' for their age. sod that, i'll wear short shorts until i decide not to, no one elses business and if they don't like it, quit looking at me.

no sotd as yet, might put on Girl later, i'm away from home atm so havent access to my shelf of wonders haha

auberginesrus · 23/08/2018 14:06

Baaa, I am self identifying as mutton here, haven't even read the thread. I'm very nearly 47, wouldn't call myself super stylish and definitely not slim but fond of a bit of leopard print, a Breton stripe and a splash of bright colour. I'll wear what I like thanks very much and so should everyone else!

Anyway sotd Jour de Hermés. I'm in a bit of a Hermés rut at the moment Smile

AdoraBell · 23/08/2018 15:30

SOTD is actually a soap, Fragonard scented soap I bought from M&S.

Tried to try Jardin Sur Nil during the week but the squirtey (is that a word Confused )bit was stuck. Have just ordered it for DD’s birthday, I know it suits her and it’s one of her favourites.

I found some rose scented soap and hand cream in the cupboard, last Xmas gift from IL, they’er going to the food bank as rose is one scent I don’t like. Roses yes, but not rose scent.

Aubergines I’m 50 and proud 😁 and yes, all those judgy feckers judging women for being women- they can pretend it’s age/class/anything else they can think of, but it’s not- can fuck right off.

XingMing · 23/08/2018 15:33

So the "mutton" thread nearly turned into a fist fight between two posters...

I find it interesting that language/usage should change so much in 100 years: the Victorians preferred mutton to lamb (on the plate) but now it's not easy to buy mutton at all. Most of the lamb sold is technically hogget, until the spring lambs are big enough to eat.

MrsLucas · 23/08/2018 16:29

I like leopard too. And the odd slogan. My fave reads 'Eau Yeah' (Zoe Karssen from Tk Maxx sale rail).

FluffyHairedFloofyCat · 23/08/2018 17:39

"Self identifying as mutton" Grin

3 you have convinced me, I am definitely going to investigate more Givenchy via Perfume Parlour atm due to budget. I think I vaguely remember my mother wearing Ysatis?I also do love the huge 80s heavy hitters. Having watched the revival of 90s clothing like this Shock, I wondered the other day if the 80s clothes would ever come back in. I'd quite like all the big shoulder pads and tiny skirts with coloured tights! I remember in my first job in the early 90s, I had elasticated gold bracelet things to keep my jacket sleeves up and felt very sophisticated HmmGrin

SotD Wild Green by Bronnley. A fresh Angel according to Fragantica but I've never worn Angel so I can't comment. Green and spicy and only half price in Boots at the moment!

60+ mutton checking in here! 😀 Wore bright pink to go with white hair and Britney Spears Rocker Femme perfume (sweet blackberry gourmand). Love your slogan MrsLucas!

AdoraBell · 23/08/2018 22:36

Givenchy scents don’t tend to work for me Sad I’ve tried them all but only the old 111 suits.

socraties1234 · 24/08/2018 09:48

where is the mutton thread? would be interested to read it. Thanks

Puppylucky · 24/08/2018 10:10

Just popping on to say to Floofy that Ange Ou Demon is a fantastic scent - a dry saffron that's grown up sophisticated and cosy at the same time. I think it's discontinued now (boo) but still relatively easy to find

Calmanddance · 24/08/2018 14:50

It’s here socraties Mutton

SOTD Chanel 19. I bought a replacement bottle today. SOTE JM Wood Sage.

Happy weekend!

3TresTrois · 24/08/2018 22:45

I have to say I hated Ange ou Demon. It was TCP mixed with vanilla essence to me (sorry Puppy). But then I detest Shalimar, which has a similar chemical vanilla smell to me, and I know perfumistas consensus is generally good on that, so might just be me!

I wore Britney Fantasy ‘the naughty remix ‘, today, too, which is basically white chocolate cookie dough and musk. So feel free to doubt my credentials 😆

3TresTrois · 24/08/2018 22:47

Dreading the rain, though. Penultimate day in Spain where it’s 30 and blue skies, but finally a magnificent breeze today, too. Bliss.

Got a job interview next week . What to wear?

Have been catching up with that thread. What a disheartening read. Wondering how some of the very eloquent voices from Feminism Chat could be tempted across to stage a consciousness raising intervention?

Scents of the day are Absolute Amber and Elephant.

I notice Maxed Out is 4160T's SotW. Louche, borderline sordid. Everyone should have a little, but not necessarily leave the house whilst wearing it Grin.

MrsLucas · 25/08/2018 10:00

Darn it, could've tried Ange au Demon on a dusty bottom shelf in duty- free yesterday.

auberginesrus · 25/08/2018 11:06

Morning all, on my way up to Edinburgh just for the night for a bit of fringe festival action, but full of cold which has taken the shine of a bit. Wearing Eau de Merveilles again and have also packed Rome 1963.

Read this on the pool earlier, like the sound of that H&M fig fragrance:
