Scent of the week has been DS' assessment stress pheromones. He's taking a crash cookery course, so he can apply for ski chalet jobs, and this is crunch week. He has discovered that there are tests even worse than A level Physics, for which he had two years to prepare. Without years of cooking experience, attempting Cordon Bleu stuff on the strength of 120 hours in the kitchen is like tackling Everest after the kids climbing wall. We are optimistic of a pass, but he did so well to start with that he'd set his sights on a Distinction. Only his breads have won those so far...

XingMing · 22/08/2018 17:34

Final day tomorrow, so my waistline can take a break from the richness.

cloud1183 · 22/08/2018 19:35

I got a PP dupe of TF soleil bland today and am quite underwhelmed. It’s a spot on dupe apparently but smells of cheap sun tan lotion. Will stick to VIW for my coconut fix

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2018 19:59

SOTD is L’Air de Rien.

I just read that “mutton” thread and am filled with rage.

OutComeTheWolves · 22/08/2018 19:59

I got my first scent addict parcel this week- Giorgio Armani, Si. I haven't made my mind up if I like it or not yet. It's very different to what I usually go for but then I suppose that's exactly why I got a perfume subscription in the first place.

OutComeTheWolves · 22/08/2018 20:01

Judy I saw the mutton thread too but didn't post on it. Very infuriating!

We are onto Male mutton now...

3TresTrois · 22/08/2018 21:23

The mutton thread made me so ragey I had to log off!

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2018 21:24

mrsR I turned 45 a few months ago. By that thread my outfit today (leopard print midi dress, gold Nikes, denim jacket) was a hanging offence and I should be getting my twinset on. Ironically, THREE different people, one a total random in John Lewis, told me I looked nice. I do quite a lot of outfit stuff on Instagram, and follow lots of very stylish women in their 30s/40s - the very word “mutton” makes me want to scream.

Wolves me and DH got pounced on by the Armani sales guy at Gatwick en route to hols. He drowned my DH in one of the stronger with you/because of you fragrances (dunno which one) which was foul.

He then spritzed me with Si and Si Passion. I was horrified, buy actually the Si dry down was pleasant bordering on good to me....

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/08/2018 21:33

I love a leopard print. I have some lovely shoes. Grin

SOTD was sexiest scent. I am eyeing up Encre Noire for tomorrow.

I pretty much wear no prints beyond leopard and stripes. #helptheaged

MrsSchadenfreude we are staying in the 5th Arr. DH has a cousin who lives in Paris and we're about 5 minutes away from where she lives so we're going to catch up while we are there which will be lovely.

Ha, one of my favourite outfits this summer has been a pleated leopard midi skirt, with a black and white striped tee, and Stan Smiths. Print clashing is better than matchy matchy!

I love florals on other people, but they don’t work on me. I have a sharp Louise Brooks bob, always have red lips, and anything ditsy or busy looks daft on me, like my head is wrong for my body.

Judy and Mrsr8, you both sound very stylish. If I can achieve “reasonably tidy” on a good day, then I am doing well.

CountFosco - sounds lovely. I used to live in the 17th. Left 5 years ago. Bizarrely, have only been back once.

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2018 22:16

That sounds like a cool floral. Also, I bet your hair is really stylish. There’s a woman at my work who has the most excellent, super short grey pixie - she’s really petite, and it gives her a sort of “elfin” look, just beautiful.

I too have been known to wear the odd leopard print shoe, slogan t-shirt and miniskirt despite pushing 50. In fact I'm tempted to wear all 3 together on Friday. No-one has died of shock at my bare legs yet thankfully.

I think we have part of our next thread title sorted, ladies...!

FluffyHairedFloofyCat · 23/08/2018 09:12

Thanks heavens for sanity over here Smile I had to click off that awful thread before I actually combusted. I'm sure half of those posters were actually men Hmm

It is no surprise to me that you all sound extremely stylish and examples of women wearing whatever the fuck they like and looking fantastic. The irony is that my favourite look for me is twinset and pearls (ideally with matching gloves and handbag and a Mohican Grin) but I genuinely think all women look best wearing what they like wearing and the people who judge them for that are the ones who need our Hmm faces. It's a timely discussion for me atm as I'm attempting to grow all my hair back without any dye so at the moment it's just a fluffy grey/brown inch of hair and I quite miss my fuschia mohican! I'm sure lots of people judged me for that too, but the only out loud comments I had were positive, eg the nurses liked it in hospital as they could always see where I was on the ward! Little children also liked to point at me Grin

I am feeling a need for a style overhaul (this may need a thread of its own Wink) to adjust to my hedgehog head but I'll drag my winter clothes out before I tackle that! I may need advice from you guys as you all sound like you look wonderful and feel confident. I too love a bit of leopard print but can only wear it in shoes, coats and accessories. I'm also tentatively guessing leopard print lovers love faux fur too...

Anyhoo back to perfume after that stream of consciousness! Count Paris, how lovely, you will feel like you're actually in a perfume ad! I was going to say, what are quintessential Paris perfumes then answered myself with Paris (the vintage version of course).

SOTD is Organza Indecence (in an attempt to stop myself wearing Obsession in August). This is just the PP dupe today but if the real thing is similar or better, it would be FB worthy. I don't know enough about Givenchy perfumes apart from Amarige and need to rectify this so any recommendations welcome! I've seen Ange ou Demon mentioned positively on here quite a bit I think?
