Yesterday afternoon I put on 4160 Up the Apples & Pears. Quite a comforting perfume, but with some odd notes. I couldn’t tell what any of the ingredients were without checking. Then I could smell stewed spicy apples and a different strong note which I think might be hops. As it dried down I caught a slight curry whiff as a skin scent, but that’s definitely not listed! It was very long-lasting (still there this morning,)

Today I wore Pharrell Williams’ Girl. Strong woodsy violet and it has a nutty smell on me. Love it, but I don’t think Mr Williams had someone like me in mind for his perfume!

SOTD is Kiehl’s Musk. fennel and mrsR I have a full bottle of Fireplace and will decant some. I am going to order those atomisers RIGHT NOW.

Fennel - what does a Perfumista look like?

Why, utterly fabulous, of course Grin

Judy, you angel. That is so generous, thank you.

Calm, did you not get the pickled onion note in UTAAP? It was quite...bold on me.

CountFosco · 10/08/2018 21:05

SotD Dryad for customer visit at work. Still got a touch of a skin scent 14 hours after applying. I love this.

My Bloom subscription this month was rose perfumes which I've surprisingly really enjoyed. Rose is good in the heat apparently. I particularly loved the incense of Megalium and the florist greenery of Allegria

Sounds fab Count. Especially the Florist greenery.

Ah, Fennel - have to admit then I'm in stealth mode. Smile. And I do quite like the detective work involved in picking up a great scent in a supermarket isle and sniffing around to locate its owner.

Still hitting the PP oils - today Japan Noir and Vert de Fleurs smellalikes. The Moss Breches one is very interesting - shame the real deal goes for exorbitant sums on ebay.

UnnecessaryFennel · 11/08/2018 11:33

MrsL fabulous is as fabulous smells, imo Wink

Prada Amande this morning for errands and a trip to the hairdresser. Pretty, soft and inoffensive.

Drydown of PP's Vert de Fleurs is very good.

Bronze goddess SOTD - I have never smelled it so drowned myself in Debenhams! Really like it

I just tried Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber and I’m pleasantly surprised- it’s nothing like I expected. Far fresher and more citrusy than I thought it would be. I can’t smell the cucumber at all and get a creamy/honey smell over earl grey. In fact, to my nose it smells nothing like earl grey and cucumber.

It’s a gorgeous clean, spring/summer scent

UnnecessaryFennel · 11/08/2018 16:18

The Prada had all but disappeared by the time I got home, so I have Freidemodin Rosee de Nuit on one arm and Habanita on the other. The Rosee de Nuit is a sour, sharp floral, which is actually rather fab and I must make the effort to wear it more often. The Habanita is a good counterpoint; oily, powdery, almondy loveliness.

My hairdressers had a little display of colognes and perfumes today, can't remember what the line was but it was nothing I'd heard of. Anyway, gave myself a quick spritz of one (obviously) and it was a pure knock-off of SJP Lovely, absolutely identical. Several times the price, though...I didn't indulge.

Calmanddance · 11/08/2018 16:32

Fennel, I knew that the onion note was meant to be in Up the Apples & Pears, but I couldn’t smell it at all. Possibly I was misinterpreting the curry smell?! At one of Sarah McCartney’s workshops a couple of years ago, she showed us the bottle of onion essence. It was so pungent she had wrapped it up like a nuclear rod flask! 😱. There are meant to be bread notes as well, but I didn’t get those either. Anyway, it’s an interesting perfume and actually I enjoyed wearing it. I shall look forward to trying it again in colder weather to see how it changes.

I finished off my sample of Huitienne Art’s Poudre de Riz. On me it is a gentle vanilla, coconut and tonka bean. Not much rice, though!

Wasn't for me either. Liked having an accompanying story though.

Judydreamsofhorses · 11/08/2018 20:28

SOTD Byredo Gypsy Water. We just had a huge roast chicken, mashed potatoes, veg and PIGS IN BLANKETS. Best dinner ever, and now I am excited for Christmas.

Oh I love the smell of that Piz Buin stuff! Asda’s currently have it on offer, £5 instead of £10 for the small size Factor 30.

Digging around in the samples box this morning; in Ormonde Jayne Woman and Bois D'Hadrien.

UnnecessaryFennel · 12/08/2018 11:35

I'm in a sweater and L'AP Mon Numero 10. This has many notes that I should adore (leather, incense, etc) but somehow it doesn't quite live up to expectations. It's quite sweet and too heavy on the cinnamon for it to become a love, I think.
