SoTD is Rook Suede. I stopped trying these when the hot weather began so it seems reasonable to start again even though dabber samples put me off. This starts with a hefty bellow of coal tar soap and benzoin. Weirdly, it's quite enjoyable and bracing, but I'm apprehensive about what happens next.

auberginesrus · 08/08/2018 13:20

Have been mia for a while, v busy at home and work and mostly wearing MG Lemon, which lasts well in the heat, or Rome 1963 while rushing around trying to get everything sorted before my hols.

Anyway we are now en route to Folkestone and over to France in the morning for our first non UK based holiday for a v long time. We're all v excited 😁

Part of my prep involved finally getting to the post office Mrs R so your MG Fire is on its way.

Have packed my Hermes sample set (minus Twilly, which I'm still not sure about) and Lumiere Doree and Etui Noir. Think I was just influenced by the French names Blush SOTD is Jour de Hermes.

MrsLucas · 08/08/2018 19:24

Have a lovely trip Aubergines.

PP order has arrived Glitterball Glitterball

Tried all on paper first, and now trying an oil and a spray on skin. The projection seems to vary by fragrance, rather than the medium of oil or alcohol (spray).

Can't do side by sides for comparison purposes, but happy to have received interesting smelling things . Santal smells like a cross between two Elephants (Kenzo and Zoologist).

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/08/2018 19:57

SOTD is MMM Lazy Sunday Morning, on a Wednesday.

XingMing · 08/08/2018 20:18

Updating to say that the Suede died soon after the first post.

I like Lazy Sunday Morning too Judy, but a sample has been ample as it doesn't last very well on me.

YukonGold · 08/08/2018 21:05

I bit the bullet earlier and now have 12 x 3ml roll on perfum oils on order with PP 😬
I selected Mumsnet on the drop down list 😂

MrsLucas · 08/08/2018 21:09
Grin

What did you go for Yukon?

MrsLucas · 08/08/2018 22:41

Have you tried the PP Back to Black Calm - the cherries, honey and tobacco made me think of you?

Calmanddance · 09/08/2018 12:16

I’ve never tried that one MrsLucas, but the notes sound interesting and certainly my kind of thing. I shall add it to my list of PP “possibles” for an order. Thank you!

This morning I’m wearing PP Rive Gauche. It’s raining steadily here now, so I may put on something much more pungent later.

Have a lovely holiday, Aubergine! ⛱

UnnecessaryFennel · 09/08/2018 12:23

SOTD is Amberama. This is lovely but it doesn't really last, so perhaps that's good news for my bank account...

MrsLucas · 09/08/2018 17:12

Also enjoying the PP smellalike related to Comme des Garcons 2. No idea if it's close to the CdG, but I get the play of dark and light (ink Vs aldehydes).

UnnecessaryFennel · 10/08/2018 08:08

SOTD is the gorgeous Felanilla from Pierre Guillaume. This really is a fabulous non-gourmand vanilla and definitely FB-worthy.

Off to the US next week - will be making a special trip to Aedes Perfumery in NYC!

Morning All.

Sorry to hear about the infection Mrs8 and good to have you back.

Very jealous Fennel. I predict you come back with a bottle of Copal Azur. Grin Shame the exchange rate is so dreadful -or I would be asking you to bring one for me too. (Pest - you should never have shared that sample with me (but thank you)! It's on my desert island list).

Still playing with the PPs - today smellalikes of Ombre Hyacinth and Moss Breches. No idea how close they are but might go and compare with the Private Blend counter later. (Although think MB is discontinued).

These are defo interesting and satisfying as cheap thrills particularly for things that would otherwise be unobtainable. I feel better for understanding the state of play on IPR. Has anyone ordered from the ebay shop? They are doing 5 for £10 (delivered).

I'm sure someone in this train carriage is wearing Fire. There is a woman in front of me who looks as if she could be a Perfumista...

Thank goodness it's Friday.

I was looking at By The Fireplace last night as well, mrsr8. It will be so perfect when the nights start drawing in. But even 5ml samples are pricey on ebay.

Anyone suggest something similar to labdanum 18? I love it but it's SO expensive

MrsLucas · 10/08/2018 19:26

Fennel - what does a Perfumista look like?

MrsLucas · 10/08/2018 19:28

4160T SotW is White Queen. Gorgeous, unusual, but highly wearable non-sweet gourmand. Highly recommended.
