SOTE is Aromatics Elixir. I am fed up with transparent summery scents and want to start wearing my big hitters again. I want spices and leather and powerhouse chypres; I don't care how unseasonal they are. This smells blardy fabulous.

MrsLucas · 02/08/2018 20:04

Yes, watch out, as we do sometimes use sexy to describe knickery things you'd not wear to the post office (unless feeling very brazen or wanting to seduce the post master/mistress).

CountFosco · 02/08/2018 20:25

Aren't men suppose to like vanilla on women rather than florals.

PestymcPestFace · 02/08/2018 20:37

I think lots of men find pudding sexy Count. DH rather like SJP Covet.

MrsLucas · 02/08/2018 20:38

Maybe that explains how the The Sexiest Scent got named?

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/08/2018 20:39

SOTD was 4160 WIDOMH, and it didn’t feel right on a really muggy day. Had another shower and SOTE is MMM Untitled.

V envious of your workshop, fennel.

MrsLucas · 02/08/2018 21:17

Is this the right moment to mention:

a) Tania Sanchez's observation that men's favourite smell is....bacon?

b) the concept of 'panty-droppers'?

MrsLucas · 02/08/2018 23:29

Perhaps not. Apologies for lowering the tone.

SotE is vintage Opium - 4 hours and this is lovely (if ever so slightly showing its age?).

MyLifeInTheSunshine · 03/08/2018 00:11

Can’t sleep in this heat, so dropping in to say hi (it’s 3/Ms Jackson/Fancy).

SOTD was my beloved YSL Cinema which bombed in the humidity, sadly. Switched to Light Blue tonight but even that wasn’t cutting it. I’ve had a shower and slathered myself in Bodyshop White Musk L’Eau body lotion - lovely, light and fresh - and finally feel comforted.

OutComeTheWolves · 03/08/2018 06:30

Has anyone tried any of the juliette has a gun perfumes? I'm crap at guessing what I'll like from reading the notes and I'm tempted to treat myself to a sample pack just because I like the name (same with damn rebel witches Blush).

CountFosco · 03/08/2018 07:20

MrsLucas

Bacon perfume just for you.

UnnecessaryFennel · 03/08/2018 07:44

I thought Ruth Mastenbroek's Firedance was rather bacon-y bit not in a yummy way. It certainly reminded me of burnt meat.

MrsLucas · 03/08/2018 08:01

Thank you Count Smile.

I thought it was like burning pot pourri Fennel.

The sample sets are great valueWolves - there are some pleasant enough perfumes, but a bit meh for FB's at niche prices?

XingMing · 03/08/2018 10:38

I've bought two or three JHaG sample sets, but loved none enough for a FB or even a big decant. I do like their rose scents, and Citizen Queen is a decent chypre, am also fond of Another Oud (SoTD, prompted by this) and Moondance, despite it being tuberose.

Tickled that we're on the drop-down menu at PP!

CountFosco · 03/08/2018 17:56

SotD Rose Silence. This really lasts in the heat and feels very romantic. I generally like my roses dirtier though.

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/08/2018 19:59

SOTD is MMM Lazy Sunday Morning. DP has been away and brought this back - boy done good!

wolves I have JHAG Mad Madame as a full bottle, rose and patchouli. I am actually on my second FB. I also like Miss Charming, although I am sure there are other similar roses, it’s quite jammy.

OutComeTheWolves · 04/08/2018 09:27

Thanks for the feedback. I might treat myself to a little sample pack when I get paid!

Having a bit of a shit day today. Dh is working away and I'm having to miss a friend's wedding due to lack of childcare. So I'm wearing the happiest perfume I own - pop by Stella McCartney! I saw a review online that said if barbie wore a perfume, it would be this and I'm inclined to agree. Definitely one of my favourites.

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/08/2018 13:17

Morning all! SOTD is Diptyque Philosykos, but Im really wishing I'd splashed out a bit more on the EDP as the T really doesn't last, despite the fact I pretty much drenched myself in it. Such a fab hot-weather scent though.

Have friends coming round for supper this evening (they're getting a 'cold collation' as my grandmother would have said, because it's far too hot to cook). We have a tradition of personalising the plates/table settings etc with daft little trinkets whenever one of us hosts, but I've run out of ideas. Thought I might just palm off some of my samples instead Grin

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/08/2018 13:17

Just realised it's the afternoon...

Calmanddance · 04/08/2018 13:30

Fennel, I put on L’Artisan Nuit de Tubereuse this morning! But I find it very suitable for hot weather, with a lovely dusty note. Love Diptyque Philosykos, but I just have a very little left from a 5ml sample.

4160Tuesdays’ half price scent of the week is Another Kiss By The Fireside, not the most suitable for this weather. 😨 Glad you enjoyed the 4160 workshop, Fennel. Please tell us all about it. Was it full?

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/08/2018 16:45

Oooh I do love Another Kiss, though, might stock up for when the cooler weather comes (if it ever does).

The workshop was fab. I'm very lucky to have some colleagues who are happy to go along with some of my stranger ideas, but running a perfume workshop on a Wednesday afternoon in a university classroom probably takes the biscuit Grin Sarah was great and really got everyone's interest going. I made a scent of green tea, cucumber and some of Sarah's 'seaside' accord which is actually not too bad, although I don't think she has any competition from me! We had a good chat about her future plans and hopefully she's going to do some more work with us too. Feel very privileged!

MrsLucas · 04/08/2018 20:26

Picked up L'Ete en Douce very cheaply in TK Maxx's final clearance. Not sure about it yet - it's an Olivia Jacobetti, but relatively substantial and opaque, like a laundry product or top of the range dry shampoo. The floral/musk notes strike quite a dry singular chord. Reminds me a bit of Narciso Rodriguez.

slalomsuki · 04/08/2018 20:34

Sorry ladies, I'm just about to bring your lovely perfume choices crashing down. I had a little squirt of Brittany Spiers sunset the other day and I loved it. Just right for summer with a good combination of florals and spicey scents

MrsLucas · 04/08/2018 22:49

Don't worry Slalom. We're a broad church.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/08/2018 21:30

SOTD Caldey Island Lavender. I really like this for days pottering around at home, but it does need reapplied.
