Paloma Picasso is up there! Dirty beast. Love.

I know Magie Noire is a MN fave, but I can’t tolerate it. Such a dry, ashy dry down. A classic though, for sure.

MrsLucas · 30/07/2018 07:45

SotD is Y. (Thank you Green wherever you are).

ThenCameTheFools · 30/07/2018 20:53

Well how the heck have you all been doing huh?
I am out of residential inspection understaffing purdah and finally doing normal human person things like checking my emails and having a mooch round MN!
I will catch up on this thread in a mo' but as promised I am trying to sample as many 4160s as possible while here where postage is reasonable (also thanks to the wonderful Blue who sent me Sunshine and Pancakes (love it) WIDOMH (unfortunately smashed in transit but the envelope smelled nice!) and Lemon Sherbert which isn't for me, but dd loves.
I meanwhile ran screaming from Mrs Gloss Outdoors- I never got beyond the (frankly rotting stinkery) opening before I scrubbed- really surprised as on paper I should have loved it. Eau My Soul is OK, but a slightly too sweet evening/autumn musky gourmandy almost PM on me, Rhubarb and Citrus I adore...and my boss surprised me by saying "oh! I can smell rhubarb!" Grin I have been buying the half price SOTWs too- Killer Rose will probably be up for grabs, haven't tried it yet, but it smelled a bit "fake" in the bottle- but am in Raw Silk and Red Roses today which I like a lot. The powdery rose reminds me of POAL.

Up for grabs from me, so please PM me, I can't promise immediate delivery- we still have 180 kids in residence, but before the end of next week I'll get them off:
Samples:
JHAG Miss Charming
Diptyque Eau de Lierre
Guerlain L'Heure Bleu- about 1 ml left of a 5ml sample, but I have a FB now so thought I'd share the love

Nuit d'issey Bleu Astral
Byredo Accord Oud
Diptyque Oyedo
F Malle Angelique sous la pluie (about 1 ml left)
Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee
Comme des Garcons Amazing Green
JHAG Another Oud
Pell Wall 1953
Penhaligons Peoneve (about 1 ml)

XingMing · 30/07/2018 21:30

SoTD was the Rook Neroli. Meh, vanished fast and not exciting to start with.

MrsLucas · 31/07/2018 08:36

Morning All. It's payday and I'm contemplating my first foray into PP. Can we talk tactics? Oils vs sprays? Start with small rollerballs then repeat order in larger sizes or go straight in at 13ml sprays?

MsJacksonIfUrNasty · 31/07/2018 09:40

MrsL. I’ve always started with the smallest rollerball for PP and then bought a 13ml spray if I like it.

I’m not usually a fan of roller balls or oils, but the PP ones I’ve had have been very concentrated, long lasting and amazing value, so haven’t even graduated on to a spray with some fragrances.

Welcome back, Fools!

Calmanddance · 31/07/2018 16:21

MrsLucas, with PP I started off doing the same as Ms Jackson, ie roller ball and then the smallest spray if I liked it. However, there were some where I ordered a spray straightaway; Rive Gauche (because of the very positive recommendations on here) and several of the Jo Malones.

I wore SJP Covet today. I turn to it often - it’s a real go-to of mine, all citrussy lavender chocolate.

Judydreamsofhorses · 31/07/2018 20:39

SOTD JHAG Mad Madame. Rotten period pain all day, I swear my body hates me sometimes.

OutComeTheWolves · 31/07/2018 21:57

My sotd has been Penhaligon's juniper sling. It's just from a tiny sample and it's the first time I've used it, but it's bloody gorgeous. I'd definitely be tempted to buy a full bottle.

MrsLucas · 01/08/2018 00:22

SotE is White Queen (now it is a bit cooler).

Have place my PP order Smile. Hit the 'similar to' TF Private Blends with a vengeance - they all seem well reviewed. Swerved Chanel/Dior etc.

UnnecessaryFennel · 01/08/2018 06:56

SOTD Raw Silk and Red Roses for my 4160 workshop this afternoon!!

Licencedtodrill · 01/08/2018 09:27

Can anyone please recommend an oil from PP for me to try? Have not ordered from them before and I like strong scents e.g. Knowing, poison. Not keen on Jo Malone. I was put off the oils reading elsewhere that the scent doesn't last long as they are alcohol free, but am keen to give them a try as they are so reasonably priced. Thanks

CountFosco · 01/08/2018 22:26

SotD Fleur de Sel.

Popped into M&S after work and tested out some of the Monotheme perfumes. Right wrist was Verde d'Arancia. Lots of lovely oranginess but sadly doesn't last very long at all (although bizarrely I have the memory of oranginess still on my wrist. In wine tasting we talk about wine having a 'hole' if there seems to be a gap in the flavours when you are tasting it, is there a similar description for perfume?). Right elbow Patchouli Leaves which was a light and pleasant patchouli. Left wrist was Vetiver Bourbon, a really grassy green vetiver, the top notes were a bit harsh even for me but the dry down is lovely and fresh. Left elbow was Black Oud which was a spicy amber, absolutely gorgeous and DD2's (my mini perfumista!) favourite. All lovely and classy for the price. Fragantica love the Rose Oud so will have to go back and try that and all the other black labels.

Haven't tried any PPs yet so reading that chat with interest.

SotD was Feu Follet. Staying with leather, SotE is vintage Azuree.

Hello Licensed - I'll report back when mine arrive. There are quite a lot of reviews out there. Looked to me like Jo Malone and Tom Ford inspired things are generally well received.

PS. made me laugh when I clicked on the PP 'where did you hear about us?' question when ordering , and the drop down choices included, 'Mumsnet forum'. That'll be you lot Grin.

Motoko · 02/08/2018 08:45

Haha, I love that Mumsnet forum is an option in the drop down menu!

Has anybody tried the ouds that Primark are now doing? I didn't get much time to check out all the perfumes there when I went last, as I'm disabled, in a wheelchair, and can only go when my husband takes me. By the time I'd got to the perfumes, he was already sighing heavily, so I didn't linger!
The packaging looks quite nice, and they're only £8 for a large bottle (didn't notice how many mls).

It looks like they've really expanded their perfume range and I think their might be some dupes, as I saw one that looks like it might be a dupe of CK1.

PestymcPestFace · 02/08/2018 08:49

Glitterball We are famous Glitterball how many other places have us as a drop down option?

SotD La Fin du Monde. Really shpuld have got some when TKMaxx had FBs

TimeIhadaNameChange · 02/08/2018 09:38

Can anyone help me, please? I rarely wear perfume but I'm going out next week and would love to buy a sexy scent to wear, preferably one that I can buy a very small bottle of.

Can anyone recommend something I could try? Thanks!

UnnecessaryFennel · 02/08/2018 09:39

SOTD is Prada infusions Fleur d'Oranger. Pretty but doesn't last on me; it's more or less a skin scent already.

Lots of fun with Sarah McCartney yesterday and my green tea/cucumber/seaside concoction is smelling ok, actually! She is fab; it's been such a privilege working with her. I need to save up for a full day workshop, I think!

PestymcPestFace · 02/08/2018 09:43

Notino do sample sizes of most perfumes 2ml.

Roullier White also do samles.

4160 do samples and 9ml bottles.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 02/08/2018 09:46

Thank you, Pesty - that's brilliantly helpful!

PestymcPestFace · 02/08/2018 10:04

Sexy scent is very personal. Any ideas what you or the intended sniffer consider sexy TimeIHad ?

CountFosco · 02/08/2018 12:11

Yes, be careful. I think Salome is a very dirty sexy scent, reminds me of student bedrooms and sex in dirty sheets. It makes DH think of old ladies Hmm (and not in a good way).

OP posts:
TimeIhadaNameChange · 02/08/2018 15:23

Absolutely no idea, Pesty! As I say, I rarely wear perfume (which may be a bonus in this case, as he'll definitely notice!). I don't tend to go for florals, so maybe I should this time?
