What is this foul perfume I keep smelling everywhere?

Today on an hour long commute I noted 3 separate women wearing this same overpowering scent. It’s sort of warm as if it’s a lotion instead of a spray. Smells like pineapple & strawberry sweets mixed with sun cream, like a 3 yo’s sticky hands after a day at the beach. And it’s overwhelming, you don’t just get a waft as someone walks by, it hangs in the air, like someone has dumped a half eaten rainbow ice lolly behind the radiator and you haven’t discovered it until the heat comes in in October. Any thoughts?

Luxury

Of course- it's called "Elle" how original Grin

If you like Sophia then try Stella, it's lovely too.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 17/06/2018 09:46

Zoflorabore thanks, I'm a numpty I was trying to work out what Elle could be as there was no tester. So obvious now!

pieceofpurplesky · 17/06/2018 09:56

My classroom permanently smells of lynx, sweat and Victoria's Secret

MizCracker · 17/06/2018 10:03

My first thought was one of those Hawaiian Tropic body sprays. Superdrug sell them. It seems to be a new "thing" for a summer fragrance to actually smell like sun cream.

Apparently Nivea have brought out a shower gel that has their classic sun cream fragrance? People were going mad for the nostalgia.

Well, I've been shopping today and out of curiosity popped into Debenhams to sniff some of these.

Alien (never tried before) - really liked it, not too surprising as I quite like Angel.
Giorgio Beverly Hills (hated in the 80s) - quite liked it.
Obsession (also hated in the 80s) - quite liked it.
La Vie est Belle (never tried before) - strongly disliked it, very sweet.
Flowerbomb - hated it as much as ever
The new Nuxe Sun in M&S - hated it (but I like Prodigieuse).

I guess that shows how our tastes can change over the years. I also sniffed Anais Anais which I loved as a teen and hated that.

pieceofpurplesky · 17/06/2018 15:38

I live flower bomb - but nobody can guess what it is when I am wearing it as it smells different on me

daftyburd · 17/06/2018 16:03

Is it the Juicy couture perfume? Sales person in Debenhams was trying to spray me with that. Very sickly and fruity.
I also imagine Prada Candy would smell like that. I’ve never actually smelled it but the name puts me off.

MaisyPops · 17/06/2018 16:19

A bit lae to the thread but some of our older students seem to be smothering themselves in Victoria's Secrets body mists but instead of doing a couple of sprays of perfume, they seem to be showering in the stuff.
That's very sweet and intense.

dickxydoraxx · 17/06/2018 18:09

Victoria Secrets perfumes smell like sour body odour. Could be that?
Or La vie est Belle. That's a rank one.

Flowerbomb on the other hand, when used sparingly, can smell lovely.

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 18:28

Primark do a cheapy version of Flowerbomb. I wonder if it's that.

BelfortGabbz · 17/06/2018 19:04

Could it be Jimmy Choo? I think it smells of sweets.

I've worn Angel for 2 years, it's the only time people have said I smell lovely nearly everytime I wear it. I think my dry skin makes it lose alot of its sweetness making it more subtle.

Gucci Rush makes me feel ill. I could smell a colleage when she walked through the door. Toliet cleaner.

expatinscotland · 17/06/2018 20:12

The moral of this thread is: no matter what perfume or scent you wear, it's going to offend someone, so wear whatever the hell you want.

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:14

Does anyone like (or more likely hate) the new(ish) Mugler Aura?

TheNavigator · 17/06/2018 20:16

I think the moral of this thread is: only wear one small squirt of perfume maximum, so that you don't make innocent bystanders retch.

o0o0o · 17/06/2018 20:24

@WatermelonGlitter I perversely LOVE it. Smells like deep heat 😍. Sneakily treated myself to a small bottle but only wear a tiny bit as I'm very aware it's not to everyone's taste (ha - no ones taste AFAIK!)

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:27

I love it too! first sniff and I was hooked..used to grab a spray at Boots and walk down the High Street sniffing myself like a mad woman Grin Don't wear it often though, as it slightly scares me too!

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:28

I also have a love/ hate relationship with Narciso Poudree!

expatinscotland · 17/06/2018 20:30

Nah, I don't want to wear one small squirt. I don't hold a scent well.

o0o0o · 17/06/2018 20:33

Erhmahgard Watermelon are you me? I also bought the Narciso after sniffing it at the airport. Got home and couldn't understand why i liked it so much. My niece is now the proud owner of it Grin

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:37

Wow, I bought mine at the airport too! 😁 sometimes I love it, sometimes I think it stinks ..never worn it out in public..don't like any of the other Narciso perfumes...love the bottles though... almost bought the pink one just for the bottle 😱 Yes, I'm that shallow 😂

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:43

Now, I sprayed it on my hand last night and it horrified me..but I've just sprayed it on my inner arm and it smells lovely. Mystifying.

o0o0o · 17/06/2018 20:48

Haaa I have to ask Watermelon. What's your fave perfume of all time? Seems as though we have similar tastes and I'm still searching for my 'signature' scent

Sorry if this is considered thread hijacking

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:55

I LOVE Angel Eau Sucree limited edition by Mugler, but I think most people hate it..but to me it's bliss.

o0o0o · 17/06/2018 21:05

Woo hoo! Gonna sniff it tomo Grin
