What is this foul perfume I keep smelling everywhere?

Today on an hour long commute I noted 3 separate women wearing this same overpowering scent. It’s sort of warm as if it’s a lotion instead of a spray. Smells like pineapple & strawberry sweets mixed with sun cream, like a 3 yo’s sticky hands after a day at the beach. And it’s overwhelming, you don’t just get a waft as someone walks by, it hangs in the air, like someone has dumped a half eaten rainbow ice lolly behind the radiator and you haven’t discovered it until the heat comes in in October. Any thoughts?

I like flowerbeds but never wear it in the day on special occasions evening (or daytime if it’s cold) or as I find wearing it in hot weather or when it’s sunny really makes it change into something quite horrid and this happens with quite a lot of strong smelling perfumes

Another vote for the Hawaiian Tropic body sprays

Peanutbuttercups21 · 14/06/2018 17:58

It must be Bronze Goddess

It's a seasonal perfume that is rolled out in a new bottle every year 1st of June

It smells of coconut, sun cream and candy Grin

MeanTangerine · 14/06/2018 18:34

I'd like to take this opportunity to slag off La Nuit Tresor, which has thousands of fabulous reviews and smells like a bag of Skittles.

UserX · 14/06/2018 18:41

Smells like Parma violets mixed with toilet duck 😂😂😂

I’m sure I’ve smelled that one too. But I’m thinking from the descriptions it’s either Hawaiian tropic or bronze goddess. Will check both out this weekend so I can make sure my 12yo never comes home with it.

Can you find out please because it sounds lovely to me... 😂

ThenCameTheFools · 14/06/2018 19:04

I'm going to bet on La Vie Est Belle, Petit Robe Noir or a Prandy Candy.

We call these overpowering fruity florals Pink Mingers on the Perfumista thread, because apart from being migraine inducingly heavy and sweet, they just smell pink.

If it's not one of those, then it's a flanker that's just come out. What's recently been released or is getting a lot of press? The Primark knock off Jo Malones are pretty popular, but they just smell linear and fairly boring rather than offensive I think.

I doubt it's Bronze Goddess- that's just a lovely coconutty suntan oil smell.

My votes for worst perfume ever goes to Tresor. Woman in my office in the early 90s. Sweet, sickly, overpowering. She kept the bloody bottle on her desk and I wanted to accidentally lock it in a filing cabinet.

Hassled · 14/06/2018 19:05

Oh god I think it's Bronze Goddess. I bloody love it and have been spraying liberally. I am that person and can only apologise (except I'm never on an hour long commute).

Hassled · 14/06/2018 19:06

I bought it on the back of this Sali Hughes article. She sold it well.

ThenCameTheFools · 14/06/2018 19:07

Nah, BG just smells like suntan cream. It could be one of the new Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse sprays. The original is Ok, but a bit sweet, but I believe there is a new even sweeter one.

MotherofPearl · 14/06/2018 19:15

Oh dear, I love Clinique Aromatics (only in winter though). Blush

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 14/06/2018 19:17

Bet it's one of the foul Victoria's Secret sprays, much beloved of year 10 girls. I walked into the change room yesterday and gagged. Like being beaten into submission by a bouquet of flumps.

RoseWhiteTips · 14/06/2018 19:19

Opium is vomit-inducing.

DBoo · 14/06/2018 19:20

I thought it was going to be alien!

BackByDopeDemand · 14/06/2018 19:24

It’s gotta he Bronze Goddess! It is everywhere at this time of year. I actually really like it!

But I do like gourmand perfumes and some pink mingers. I even wore a Britney perfume today, in fact.

And I is a proper Perfumista. 😆

BackByDopeDemand · 14/06/2018 19:26

BG Eau de Parfum is not the same as the EDT, btw. The EDP is similar to Black Opium, but a coconut instead of coffee note. But sweet and heavy.

teta · 14/06/2018 19:32

Maybe it’s the Nuxe sun delicious perfume. There’s a tester currently on all M&S counters. It smells tropical, oily and sickly and much much worse than Bronze Goddess.

Shockers · 14/06/2018 19:42

I once had to leave the theatre because of someone’s vile perfume.

Why do people find it necessary to cover themselves in the stuff.

Angel is one of the worst. I mean, why? Why would anyone want to smell like that?

aaronburr · 14/06/2018 19:50

Marking place in case you figure out what it is because sweets and sun cream sounds lovely to me Blush

All the hate for flower bomb on here! It was my wedding perfume. I obviously don't have sophisticated tastes!

aaronburr · 14/06/2018 19:50

I do hate Angel and alien though

Oldraver · 14/06/2018 19:51

My Mum wears Clinique Aromatica Elixer....and sprays copious amounts of it as she thinks she smells. Only we couldn't get the smell out of the bed linen so we now have to keep a set just for her...duvet and all.

The new Mac Jacobs Daisy smells like Parma Violets

ThenCameTheFools · 14/06/2018 20:14

That's the one I mean Teta- I bet it's that. Or it could be the L'Occitane Terre whatsit perfume- lots of samples and freebies of that being given away I noticed.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 14/06/2018 20:14

I was wondering about the Nuxe Prodigieuse one, I do quite like it but have to spray from arm's length as it can be a bit overpowering.

SwedishEdith · 14/06/2018 20:25

Place marking because I like the sound of it as well. I love all the ones ThenCameTheFools has just listed. Grin

I've only ever heard of Bronze Goddess (which has to be the worst name ever for a perfume) on here but have smelt the Next copycat. It's definitely coconut - which is not a smell I like.
