What is this foul perfume I keep smelling everywhere?

Today on an hour long commute I noted 3 separate women wearing this same overpowering scent. It’s sort of warm as if it’s a lotion instead of a spray. Smells like pineapple & strawberry sweets mixed with sun cream, like a 3 yo’s sticky hands after a day at the beach. And it’s overwhelming, you don’t just get a waft as someone walks by, it hangs in the air, like someone has dumped a half eaten rainbow ice lolly behind the radiator and you haven’t discovered it until the heat comes in in October. Any thoughts?

Ghost is hideously sweet too. I gag every time I smell it Envy

Deathraystare · 16/06/2018 07:50

I will always remember a (much much) older woman at work decades ago wearing Avon sweet honesty. Ugh! She really thought it was lovely! Maybe if you are 5 years old.....

Oh and that bloody Giorgio Beverly Hills stuff from the 80's. I was afraid to approach a magazine in case the 'perfume' strip was there, Horrors! My mum found a cheap knock off of it (which wasn't quite as vile but still blah).

duckling84 · 16/06/2018 07:52

I love angel, and alien. And I also wear Britney spears and vera wang princess. Please op, find the scent as I sounds like I will love it.

Plattypuss · 16/06/2018 07:52

Deathraystare, maybe you are as old as that (much much) older woman now, if not I do hope you make it.

IHeartKingThistle · 16/06/2018 07:59

I reckon it might be Soap and Glory body butter too. I LOVE it but as OP says the smell does just sit there. I don't wear perfume when I've used it as the Soap and Glory is stronger.

susej · 16/06/2018 08:05

I’m only in here to see if anyone’s mentioned the perfume I wear as being disgusting Grin
I can never ever smell my own perfume on myself though, I wonder if other people can!

HabbyHadno · 16/06/2018 08:07

Argh, my favourite perfumes are Flowerbomb, La Vie Est Belle and Armani Si BlushBlushBlush

GinandGingerBeer · 16/06/2018 08:25

For me, the worst perfume ever is Amariges by Givenchy. My mum used to wear it all the time and it lingered for hours and the kids used to come back stinking of it if they’d been at hers.
M&S smells of it 😷, I think a lot of their customers wear it.

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 16/06/2018 09:12

I tried an Escada one last night sounds like it might be the one OP I think it was Sorbetto Rosso smelt like strawberries and vanilla (bleurgh)
I also tried the Marc Jacobs Daisy which I loved!

Moonkissedlegs · 16/06/2018 09:28

I also think it's one of the Hawaiian Tropic or Victoria Secret body sprays - the coconutty ones. I have both and wear them together because I love smelling like a Pina Colada!

Today I'm wearing a woody, linden blossom scent from a niche perfume house called 4160 Tuesdays.

I dabbled in 4160 Tuesdays - I so want to be a perfume sophisticat and wear 'proper' scents to show what a perfume snobconnoisseur I am. But ultimately... I just didn't really like the smell of any of them, I thought it was all a bit emperors new clothes, and I went back to my Oh Lola!

Zoflorabore · 16/06/2018 09:31

When I win the lottery, one of my first things is to go to John Lewis/Debenhams etc and buy every single perfume I like. I love smells.

I'm 40 and I've had my "signature scent" since I was 18 which is Poeme by Lancome, it's beautiful, strong but gorgeous.

Over the years I've had other phases of favourites such as Chanel Allure/Flowerbomb( pregnancy then put me off this for life ) and I admit I love Alien and Angel.

I'm not a delicate type and seem to go for non delicate perfumes :)

The ones from my youth that I loved are Exclamation! and Tribe. Nostalgia.......

Some perfumes are very pungent. I have a colleague who wears a very acrid one and you can tell where she's been in the building.

mimibunz · 16/06/2018 09:53

Sounds like a body spray a woman at work wears. It’s disgusting and cheap smelling. When she exits the lift it reeks.

Deathraystare · 16/06/2018 10:21

Deathraystare, maybe you are as old as that (much much) older woman now, if not I do hope you make it.

Yes I expect I am but I do not wear sickly sweet ickle girly perfume!

Deathraystare · 16/06/2018 10:23

Oh and I hate M&S Florentyna. People kept giving it to me for Christmas. Bleugh!

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 16/06/2018 10:33

I was a teenager who detested Dewberry and White Musk. I was partial to Impulse though Blush

AsleepAllDay · 16/06/2018 10:34

Ahh I want to know too! Generally avoid fruity/coconut/gourmand smells but was hunting for the perfect lemon or vanilla... still looking!

UserX · 16/06/2018 11:07

Guys, you are fixating too much on the coconut. It was much more fruity & sticky, I love a bit of coconut but this was too reminiscent of melted ice lollies or haribo left open in a hot car.

Anyway, I have errands to run today so will hit m&s, boots etc with all your ideas and report back!

User have you discounted Flowerbomb yet?

ChocEggNoThanks · 16/06/2018 11:17

I would put money on it being Flower Bomb. It is absolutely repulsively sweet to me.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 16/06/2018 11:20

Flowerbomb = instant headache / nausea for me.
