specialsubject No idea what you think 'mn vision' is. I liked Kate's dress because it reminded me of a medieval style, loved the way it showed off her delicate frame without swamping her, thought it was interesting to look at without being OTT.

I thought the daytime dress was lovely - elegant and stylish. And the evening halterneck Stella McCartney dress was sexy, glamorous and sensational!

PugwallsSummer · 20/05/2018 11:48

I wasn't keen on the evening dress, but I loved the wedding gown. So understated and classic. With the detailed train and gorgeous tiara, the whole look was stunning. Helps that she's very beautiful.

PinkLipsDontLie · 20/05/2018 12:13

Meghan's dress was fantastic, very elegant and youthful. I hated Kate's dress, it looked like an older lady's dress, and very conservative with all this lace. Aged her and she already looked older than her years.

Quantumblue · 20/05/2018 12:38

Loved the dress. thought the veil was just a bit much in the circumstances. Too long, too much.
I thought the dress was really similar to Swedish Crown Princess Victoria's (apart from the waistband)

Loved Meghan's dress which was simple and elegant. Thought her evening dress was super glamorous.

I know some people criticised the fit of the bodice but anything tighter would have been the horrible mess of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark's dress (similar neckline) where it looked like the seams might give way every time she moved. Mind you the skirt of Mary's dress was even more of a horror show.

Victoria of Sweden's dress is still my all time no.1 royal wedding dress closely followed by Mette-Marit of Norway's floaty, dreamy dress.

WalkingToMordor · 20/05/2018 13:04

In terms of British royals, I think Lady Helen Windsor had the best dress. Now that was a classic.

Elledorado · 20/05/2018 13:20

Both beautiful but I think i prefer the "horrible mess" of Mary's dress

I actually prefer Mary’s, not the hemline but the neckline is lovely and the colour and fit

NinonDeLenclos · 20/05/2018 13:22

Yy to Princess Victoria, I posted her dress upthread.

And also this one (left).

They're very similar to Meghan's. Classic European royal bridal haute couture. Which is not tight and blingy Kardashian style, because it has to be demure.

Didn't like Helen Windsor's at all, personally.

Mary's was too tight on the top and it crumpled round the arms. And too fussy on the bottom.

She lost weight with all that dad biz going on in the last few days so it was a bit big but otherwise stunning, stylish, gorgeous.

MrsCD67 · 20/05/2018 13:27

I loved the veil and although I think she looked beautiful, the dress was a little simple for my taste!
I prefer Kate's dress but Meghan's makeup was far better and Meghan just shone throughout the day! !

Elledorado · 20/05/2018 13:29

It's a fine line, isn't it? I can see what you mean by Mary's being slightly too tight/crumpled but the shape of it is nicer.

Elledorado · 20/05/2018 13:31

Victoria's is beautiful - the lines are gorgeous

mirren3 · 20/05/2018 13:40

I absolutely loved the dress, and thought Meghan looked fabulous. We did notice the designer patted the dress at Meghan's stomach when she got out the car, and then her and Harry having a wee smile at the mention of children.
Maybe she is newly pregnant, which would be great, so the fit has altered a wee bit?
Anyway good luck to them both, I think they are a lovely couple.

DrEustaciaBenson · 20/05/2018 13:45

I think Kate and Meghan both chose dresses that were appropriate for their settings. Kate would have risked being lost in the big grand space of the Abbey if her dress had been too plain.

St George's is a smaller, more intimate space. A big dress would have been too much. And the plainness of the dress focussed attention on Meghan's own beauty.

I hope when the official photos come out we'll see some of the detail of the embroidery on the veil.

Madbengalmum · 20/05/2018 13:56

Dull dress with Miss Haversham esque veil.

WalkingToMordor · 20/05/2018 15:25

Victoria of Sweden's dress was impeccably tailored.

I saw a video about the Swedish royal wedding dresses (worth watching for the hilariously dreadful English subtitles if you allow Google to do it for you!!!! At one point the subtitles said that the Queen of Sweden had said: " Here is the murder I gave my daughter"). The designer of Victoria's dress said that he basically doubled the fabric so it held its shape and didn't crease. He also put some slight padding on the edge of the train which forced the antique lace veil to stay in the centre of the train and not get damaged by trailing about all over the place. Clever thinking.

SenecaFalls · 20/05/2018 15:37

I loved Meghan's dress. That bateau neckline is one of my favorites and is very flattering for someone with strong shoulders. I didn't think the dress should have been tighter. It looked comfortable, which adds to the appeal for me.

I also loved Kate's dress; the skirt in particular was so well designed. I agree that Victoria of Sweden's dress was really beautiful. One of my favorite royal wedding dresses of all time.
