Evening wedding dress

I loved the dress, especially the bracelet length sleeves. The veil, tiara (OMG, that tiara!!!) and jewelry made it amazing

I read that the lace makers had to wash their hands every 30 mins to ensure that the veil was completely white....And then it trailed around the chapel and down the steps...!!!

Meghan did curtsy to the Queen but BBC coverage didn’t catch it.

Graphista · 19/05/2018 19:56

Much prefer the evening dress.

Niminy · 19/05/2018 20:00

The dress reminds me of this sixties one by Balenciaga from 1960. Clean lines, and all in the cutting.

@Graphista me too... it's stunning Shock

didsomeonesaybunny · 19/05/2018 20:14

Classic, simple elegance. I also adore her party dress.

StellaRockafella · 19/05/2018 20:15

Some of the comments re. the Givenchy are so funny and more than a little clueless! It's not ill-fitting. It's not too loose. It's supposed to skim the body. Anything tighter would crease when she was in the car, and kneeling during the ceremony. This is how a proper couture dress fits.
I loved its simplicity, and how the hand-embroidered veil with the flora of the all the Commonwealth nations took centre stage along with that fabulous Queen Mary bandeau tiara.
A dress this simple and elegant is notoriously difficult to create, and I think it's mission accomplished.

It's a far far more elegant dress than Kate's, I think the best royal wedding dress since Princess Margaret's.

Love her Stella evening gown too. Perfect.

AnnabelleLecter · 19/05/2018 20:25

Sophisticated and graceful. I loved it.
She looked so beautiful 👸💂

MynameisJune · 19/05/2018 20:28

I love the wedding dress, simple and clean. I agree with a pp anything else and it would have been critised as too Hollywood, too extravagant, upstaging Kate etc. She looked beautiful.

The evening dress is stunning, she has played it perfectly.

Caspiana · 19/05/2018 20:30

She’s such a stunning woman that she looked beautiful - I loved her hair and make up. I think though that she looked beautiful in spite of the dress as opposed to more beautiful because of it. My personal preference is for a wedding dress to be a special once in a life time dress and for me, this wasn’t a particularly special dress. Not horrible by any stretch but just a bit bland to me.

The overall effect with the veil and tiara was stunning, I just was hoping for a bit more from the dress.

Caspiana · 19/05/2018 20:30

And the evening dress is incredible!

Belindabauer · 19/05/2018 20:32

I thought she looked beautiful.
The dress was stylish and elegant.
She looked natural.
I thought it was a great choice. The colour suited her too.
Then again I am not a fan of strapless wedding gowns.

AndromedaPerseus · 19/05/2018 20:35

Her dress is very similar to Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy

I was a bit underwhelmed by the dress, it was just a bit too plain for me and didn't have any wow factor. But I think the overall effect was VERY classy and appropriate, and she looked very pretty. Loved the veil!

OhCheersForThat · 19/05/2018 21:04

The evening dress is gorgeous. She looks stunning.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/05/2018 21:08

Apparently she did her hair and makeup herself and I have to say, it shows.

Nonsense, she looked perfect.

specialsubject · 19/05/2018 21:22

brides done by wedding hair dressers tend to look really scary. anyway, if you wear makeup surely you do it yourself? an actress would be an expert.

really nice not to see horrible red lipstick and a thick mask of slap. she looked real, and pretty.

specialsubject · 19/05/2018 21:37

I would stress that it looks like the mockup due to the colour, where she may not have had a choice. plain dead white is dull, but covering it in horrible lace or frills would have been awful.

basically wedding gowns often look ridiculous. this one didnt. result!

millimat · 19/05/2018 21:46

I thought it was beautiful - just right. I'm shocked at those saying it was ill fitting.

nuttyslackster · 19/05/2018 22:08

I thought it was nice and had a pretty neckline but could have perhaps been improved by a slim belt which in some way echoed the design of the tiara, as it was a little plain. Overall though it suited her and Harry thought she looked amazing so that's all that really matters!

Yika · 19/05/2018 22:22

I thought it was absolutely stunning and what I loved was that its plainness set off her own natural beauty. It made her look luminous, radiant. I didn't even notice the tiara.

Confusssed · 19/05/2018 22:36

I didn't think the tiara matched the dress at all. The dress was quite structural, almost angular at the neckline so really needed a more contemporary tiara. Ideally, something properly Art Deco, which her one from the 1930s really wasn't.

I know she was going for elegant, but the dress was too plain for such a dramatic setting. It's the sort of wedding dress that Cos would sell. But she looked radiant and so, so happy Smile

Harry looked like he needed a haircut Hmm

alwaysiero · 19/05/2018 22:36

She looked absolutely stunning. Classic, elegant and very natural. Thought it was perfect for her.

princessbear80 · 19/05/2018 22:45

@SirVixofVixHall I’d love to know who the woman in pink was, her dress was gorgeous!
