I thought she looked beautiful and the dress was very elegant. Honestly I did think it looked like it was slightly too big for her though - not sure if the fit wasn't quite right or if it was the style.

dogzdinner · 19/05/2018 16:28

She looked beautiful but the dress didn't appear to have any skill or design flair to it. Any competent dressmaker could have made it.

pallisers · 19/05/2018 16:39

I can understand someone not particularly liking the dress or thinking it boring but "hideous" and "dreadful". At worst it is a plain white dress of a kind women have been wearing for centuries.

IrisApfelRocks · 19/05/2018 16:39

Completely underwhelmed by Meghan’s dress. To me it was such a predictable, safe and bland choice. I expected more. The more I see it the more I don't like it. Those sleeves are so bulky and around her bust, it looks ill fitting. Such a boring, dress. If she wasn’t beautiful it would look awful. Prove that she d look good in a sack, because I don’t think that dress is much better than that. I feel so irrationally upset about the dress 🤦🏻‍♀️

halfwitpicker · 19/05/2018 16:43

Dress is fab.

IrisApfelRocks · 19/05/2018 16:48

@pallisers you are absolutely right. I don't even know why I feel this strongly about it. Not "vile" strongly but I was hoping for more. Absolutely love the fact that she walked alone. Loved her Mum and that she kept her dreads and nose piercing. I just think that Meghan went too safe, not that my opinion matters much

GiantPandaAttacks · 19/05/2018 16:51

Dress was probably a little bit big as she's likely to have lost a bit more weight before today then anticipated. But she looked lovely and I don't think the vitriol is exactly needed - it's nice to see something other then a strapless or lace covered dress on a bride!

southeastlondonmum · 19/05/2018 16:59

Absolutely stunning dress but it didn't fit her. She must have lost weight before the wedding but surely this was a) predictable b) could have been fixed the day before

Cistersaredoingitforthemselves · 19/05/2018 16:59

I have been teaching all day so missed the big event but just seen it on the news and I loved it!!!

Reminded me of my childhood perfect dress - the ladybird book of sleeping beauty

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 19/05/2018 17:02

I loved it.

There would have been criticism of anything else.

Too sexy, too Hollywood, trying to hard to be a princess, upstaging Kate, too tacky.

I think it was absolutely the best style choice and also loved the subtle nod to the medieval style.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 19/05/2018 17:03

I thought she looked beautiful and happy. The dress was absolutely gorgeous.

AwkwardSquad · 19/05/2018 17:11

I thought she looked beautiful and elegant. And her make up was lovely.

Cobrider · 19/05/2018 17:15

Cistersaredoingitforthemselves thank you for that link, that’s exactly what I thought and I couldn’t pin where I remembered it from. It’s like an old fashioned story book dress. I liked it too, it needed the flouncy veil for a bit of bling.

MissMarplesKnitting · 19/05/2018 17:19

She judged it well. Modern edge but classic, not fussy or frilly. Added deft touches with the commonwealth flowers on the veil.

More bothered by the stray hair tufts on her updo which distracted me all through the service!!

She had plenty of make up on, it was subtle though. Fake lashes, cream blush, possible Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk on lips?

Typeractive · 19/05/2018 17:20

The makeup was perfect - so beautiful, I couldn't stop looking at her.

GorgonLondon · 19/05/2018 17:21

Much too plain. She's gorgeous and she looked like a nun or something.

MadMaryBoddington · 19/05/2018 17:22

She looked beautiful. I liked the neckline a lot, and it was a great choice of tiara. But on the whole it was a little bit safe - I’d hoped for something a bit more modern and original from her.

backaftera2yearbreak · 19/05/2018 17:23

Too plain.

Bluesmartiesarebest · 19/05/2018 17:35

She looked beautiful but the dress was too plain. She was avoiding frills or fussy details but the dress needed a small amount of either discreet beading or embroidery around the waist.

bengalcat · 19/05/2018 17:38

Fabulous

NinonDeLenclos · 19/05/2018 17:39

Embroidery round the waist would have looked dreadful! Completely wrong for the style of dress.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 19/05/2018 17:40

Fabulous. I love plain and elegant, hate fuss. Less is more you know.

duckling84 · 19/05/2018 17:40

I thought the dress was incredible. Absolutely beautiful
Meghan just looked stunning

Sarahconnor1 · 19/05/2018 17:44

She looked lovely but the dress was dull dull dull.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 19/05/2018 17:44

I loved it. The veil was definitely the star of the outfit, alongside the tiara of course.

I do wish someone had fanned out the dress and veil properly at the alter though - the same happened with Kate’s dress. It annoys me at every wedding I go to when the train / veil isn’t presented to its best.
