The dress was perfect, it allowed her natural beauty and the happiness in her face to shine through.

DizzyBeeme · 19/05/2018 18:26

I was so disappointed..I was completely underwhelmed. Her veil was stunning and her jewels and tiara were to die for..but I was expecting something completely spectacular from her dress..it looked very Jackie O...but she looked lovely and elegant and her and Prince Harry looked so in love. She is a very lucky lady and I wish them all the best.

HerMajestysSecret · 19/05/2018 18:26

It was very grown up. Kate's was a work or art and much more interesting but then she is going to be queen one day and her dress displayed in a museum. Meghan could afford to go for something simpler.

I was rather surprised when the veil (eventually) came off that her hair and makeup didn't look very well done.

Did anyone spot her curtseying to the Queen? Did she forget?

Orangecake123 · 19/05/2018 18:26

Personally I didn't like the dress. Her veil was beautiful though, but watching her smile was lovely. I liked the subtle make up.

TatianaLarina · 19/05/2018 18:32

I didn’t think Kate’s was a work of art at all. I thought it was a stab at copying Grace Kelly’s that went a bit wrong, and I really disliked the kitsch bow on the back.

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 19/05/2018 18:35

I thought that love or hate Kate's dress it was certainly dramatic and memorable. Megan is a beautiful woman but the dress was not in the same league as Kate's and I did think it was ill fitted around the chest and waist. No it doesn't have to be skin tight at all but the precise tailoring I'd expect wasn't there.

But she was a stunning bride nonetheless.

TatianaLarina · 19/05/2018 18:36

I thought Meghan’s dress was way out of Kate’s league - much more chic.

Thespringsthething · 19/05/2018 18:39

My objection isn't that it was simple, I had a very simple wedding dress with no sparkle/decoration myself, it's that for a very expensive couture house gown, it just looked a bit ill-fitting and the lines weren't as great as they could have been, perhaps due to the very heavy material. I agree that look is classy and I love very plain dresses with the accent on the fabric, but they have to have amazing lines and when I first saw her with the veil on, it just didn't have that for me.

It doesn't mean I would have rather seen her in bows/frills or meringue, just for that money, I'd have expected a better fitted dress!

That said, she does often wear her dresses slightly over-sized and may feel more comfortable like that. Her black dress of the evening before was exactly like that.

sexnotgender · 19/05/2018 18:40

Absolutely stunning!

FreeMantle · 19/05/2018 18:42

Kate's isn't my taste either but you could tell a great deal of work had gone into it.
I quite like the minimilist look but Meghans was very meh. It looks like something from Ghost or Monsoon. I posted Charlotte Wellselsys wedding dress yesterday. Simple, expensive fabric but looks like some thought was put in.

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 19/05/2018 18:43

I can't see a rush of brides in looking for a copy of Megan's dress in the same way there was for Kate's. One woman's understated chic is another's boring/underwhelming.

OhCheersForThat · 19/05/2018 18:44

I wasn't expecting 'footballers wives tat'. But I thought it was a shame that such a delicate frame was swamped in a loose top that seemed to be made of such heavy material. It looked very odd when she as was seated, giving her a double bust and billowing around that lovely waist that could have carried a much more elegant style.

twinkledag · 19/05/2018 18:46

It was boring - sorry. Love Meghan and Harry though!

BuggertheTabloids · 19/05/2018 18:47

Very dull I thought

DJLippy · 19/05/2018 18:48

Posting this before I read other comments to sway my opinion but I LOVED this dress. Kicked Kates dress out of the park.

SantaClauseMightWork · 19/05/2018 18:51

I think it looked beautifully classic. I think the idea was to highlight the tiara and the veil, not to say her elegant face.
This dress won't date. Wedding dresses of Diana and Kate have and will date.

NinonDeLenclos · 19/05/2018 18:56

I posted Charlotte Wellselsys wedding dress yesterday

Thought but not true style - with bizarre oversized flappy bits that looked like ears. Way too bulky.

Megan's was 100% better.

pallisers · 19/05/2018 18:56

People think strange fit because we’ve all got used to skintight booby dresses. It was old fashioned and lovely.

I agree with this. If you look at the Queen's wedding photos, if a woman wore that today people would say her bodice was ill-fitting and too loose.

NinonDeLenclos · 19/05/2018 19:10

If you check out other European royal wedding dresses - they have a similar cut - ie not skintight.

Skintight is vulgar.

WaitrosePigeon · 19/05/2018 19:19

I think she looked perfect!

Aragog · 19/05/2018 19:22

Nice evening dress too - similar in terms of simple and elegant, cleanly cut. But very much for an evening party.

sofato5miles · 19/05/2018 19:24

I loved the simplicity and heaviness of the fabric. Utterly beautiful.

shizzlethenizzley · 19/05/2018 19:27

Apparently a second dress for the evening reception AND her hair has been professionally styled - at last!

Need to see a photo now!

user1496668552 · 19/05/2018 19:30

About the dress: I agree with what specialsubject said "it just looks like the mockup rather than the real thing".

Loved the veil though, with flowers representing each of the commonwealth countries.
