The dress was simply perfect, adore that neckline. Could've done without that fusty old veil though, dreadful things at the best of times but ludicrous on a woman of her age and experience.

I don't think that hairstyle did her any favours, particularly in profile.

7.5/10

I loved the dress, but thought the veil was way too long and I was a bit surprised she made the veil quite such a statement given it's her second wedding. The tiara was very elegant but I'd have preferred something a little less geometric. Thought her makeup was perfectly understated. All in all, she looked beautiful.

kingseat2016 · 19/05/2018 17:45

I thought she looked beautiful. I despise threads like this and would never, ever berate anyone on their wedding day.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/05/2018 17:51

Too plain. But the veil and Queen Mary's tiara were lovely.

happymummy12345 · 19/05/2018 17:51

I didn't like the dress, the neckline didn't nothing for her and it was just plain. I like a wedding dress to have sparkle personally, or at dh's very least lace (even though I don't like lace on dresses myself). The train was nice though. Loved the length of the veil too.
Hated the tiara, but I hate all tiaras and personally don't feel they have any place at weddings at all.
But that's just my opinion and personal preference. I'm sure there's plenty who would say my dress and veil would not be to their taste, which is fine.

HRTpatch · 19/05/2018 17:53

Tasteful and classy.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/05/2018 17:53

Wonder what Queen Mary would have thought of an American divorcee wearing her tiara to get married in!

Bugjune · 19/05/2018 17:54

Nobody is berating her, we're merely critiquing her look. On a style and beauty forum. Hmm

MrsFezziwig · 19/05/2018 17:57

Most important - she looked gorgeous and happy.
Less important - in my opinion the bodice of the dress looked somewhat ill-fitting - I’m a big fan of plain, but if a dress is plain it needs to fit perfectly.

And I’m baffled by posters who come on here to berate people - the thread is entitled “Meghan’s dress”, what did you expect? Yes, we could do without the tiny minority of Mean Girls but in the main people are just giving their opinion - what’s wrong with that? I doubt Meghan is crying in the ladies’ toilets at Windsor Castle, because someone on MN said they didn’t like her dress.

Redglitter · 19/05/2018 17:58

Plain and boring. Didn't like it at all.

DarthArts · 19/05/2018 17:59

I thought she looked stunning.

I loved the dress - the clean lines and immaculate tailoring. Slight 50's vibe to it - thought it was very classy.

Beautiful tiara she chose as well.

Niminy · 19/05/2018 18:02

Her style isn't beading and lace and ruffles and strapless. Anybody looking at the ways she dresses can see that her style is simple, clean lines and modern. The dress reflected that. I thought it was beautifully fitted to skim and suggest the body rather than to be skin-tight. If anything I thought it was pretty fashion-forward, with sleeves, using the fabric and seaming (oh, the seaming, it was beautiful!) and a wonderfully cut neckline that framed the face and shoulders. It moved beautifully as she moved too.

On the whole, I thought it reflected her own very classy and unshowy style.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/05/2018 18:03

My mother’s dress was very similar but with a more fitted bodice, less shoulder on view, and a fuller skirt.

OhCheersForThat · 19/05/2018 18:06

Hair, make-up, veil and tiara - stunning. She looked truly beautiful.

Dress? Disappointing. Very strange fit and sack-like on top.

LucheroTena · 19/05/2018 18:06

Beautiful and understated and her makeup was perfect.

Anything more showy would have brought criticism of American actress / Wallace Simpson. I think she judged it just right.

LucheroTena · 19/05/2018 18:07

People think strange fit because we’ve all got used to skintight booby dresses. It was old fashioned and lovely.

NinonDeLenclos · 19/05/2018 18:10

I totally agree. It's a classic European couture bridal dress.

People have got used to Footballer tat.

GuntyMcGee · 19/05/2018 18:13

I think the dress on its own was very plain, however it was exquisitely made, beautiful seaming. And the overall effect with the stunning tiara, veil and natural makeup, I think she looked beautiful.

I didn't like Kate's dress personally, felt it was really too much for someone so slim and pretty - I felt Kate was drowned in the dress.

I think Meghan got it right, the focus was on her smiling face throughout, which is where it should have been.

I also thought that given the venue and the husband in military dress uniform the dress was perfectly understated. As a couple they looked wonderful.

I'm wondering whether she'll have a less formal frock to wear later, like Kate did?

Redact · 19/05/2018 18:16

I thought it was perfect, the tiara, bracelet and veil made it. Meghan is a beautiful bride.

Rockyhighway · 19/05/2018 18:17

IhearNiles has summed it up perfectly!

She was simply stunning and so elegant.

shizzlethenizzley · 19/05/2018 18:18

Apparently she did her hair and makeup herself and I have to say, it shows.

NinonDeLenclos · 19/05/2018 18:19

Maybe that's why her hair came loose.

Ypsilanti · 19/05/2018 18:20

I just believe so many people think it dull! It’s a stunning dress; simple and elegant, and it fitted her perfectly. She looked beautiful. So much nicer than lacy efforts with lots of frills or puffs.

No accounting for tastes I guess.. (and I suppose it’s as well we’re all different).

NinonDeLenclos · 19/05/2018 18:20

Her makeup was perfect - much better than Kate's which was too heavy.

Ypsilanti · 19/05/2018 18:21

^can’t believe
