Kate's dress - Stockholm visit

Your thought please.
I think she normally dresses very well but this looks like her suitcase was lost in transit and somebody in the Palace in Stockholm very kindly offered to run her up a dress from curtains ( a la The Sound of Music ) that they were donating to a charity shop.

I’m not a fan of the dress per se but I do quite like that it’s very different and not some boring body con shift dress. It looks beautiful material and I bet it feels really nice to wear.

donners312 · 30/01/2018 21:08

Gee whizz thats awful!

Charismam · 30/01/2018 21:08

it's a change!

BuzzKillington · 30/01/2018 21:09

It's hideous!

The colour, the style, the pattern - I can't think of a redeeming feature.

MistyMinge · 30/01/2018 21:11

Ooh good god no. That dress is going to come back to haunt her for many years to come. The material might have been ok if were less of it.

JaneEyre70 · 30/01/2018 21:11

It is very different for Kate - she's the Queen of the black dress for evening do's. I can't decide if it's glorious or vile tbh!

BroccoliOnTheFloor · 30/01/2018 21:11

I thought it was in Gone with the wind that Scarlett O'Hara makes a dress out of curtains? Is there another one in The sound of music?

ScarfAndGlassesgirl · 30/01/2018 21:13

It's a horrendous dress but kudos to her for wandering off her tried and tested route

Thebluedog · 30/01/2018 21:14

Oh dear that’s the worst thing I think I’ve ever seen her wear. She’s normally so timeless and classy

halfwitpicker · 30/01/2018 21:14

Bloody awful.

Mulberrysilk · 30/01/2018 21:19

I think it could look well on the right person but it doesn't suit her.

MinervaMermaid · 30/01/2018 21:19

BrocolliOnTheFloor Maria makes the Von Trapp children play clothes out of her old bedroom curtains that are being replaced even though lots of "wear" left in them Smile

PeasAndHarmony · 30/01/2018 21:19

Erdem design some stunning dresses

but this wasn't one of them.

Absolutely vile, what was she thinking!

Tiddlywinks63 · 30/01/2018 21:20

Looks like a cross between a dressing gown and one of M&S' latest efforts ☹️
Definitely an unfortunate choice.

NapQueen · 30/01/2018 21:21

Its awful but I get the impression shes just not that into clothes so just goes "yep" when things are suggested.

Mulberrysilk · 30/01/2018 21:21

Now that I've found my reading glasses I take back my previous comment. It's hideous.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 30/01/2018 21:22

Broccoli both make dress out of curtains.
In SOM Maria makes for Von Trapp children
In GWTW Scarlett Mammy makes them for scarlett to try and seduce rhett
HTH
And I think Kate's dressing while pregnant for all these photographed events inevitably will have her appearing as an extra from Little House on the Prairie...

MinervaMermaid · 30/01/2018 21:22

I am just happy to see her in something new and different- it's a bit mad though!! Agree with pp that it is probably very nice to wear - lots of soft silk

PerspicaciaTick · 30/01/2018 21:24

I like it, except for the frilly flounce at the bottom.

LadyWithLapdog · 30/01/2018 21:24

Sweden you say? Maybe she's channelling Abba in Waterloo.

ourkidmolly · 30/01/2018 21:24

I think she looks stunning and the dress is gorgeous.

rubybleu · 30/01/2018 21:25

It would look great on someone who suited the colour, which she doesn’t. The dress is wearing her & not the other way around.

ourkidmolly · 30/01/2018 21:25

And 7 months pregnant!

Bostin · 30/01/2018 21:27

Other than the gold colour I like it. She doesn’t look comfortable in it though. Perhaps it was Plan B

babyturtles · 30/01/2018 21:28

What? I think it looks great.
