Kate's dress - Stockholm visit

Your thought please.
I think she normally dresses very well but this looks like her suitcase was lost in transit and somebody in the Palace in Stockholm very kindly offered to run her up a dress from curtains ( a la The Sound of Music ) that they were donating to a charity shop.

Kate's dress - Stockholm visit

Was I just built like a whale, at 6 or 7 months pregnant with my 3rd dc, or is her bump just miniscule? I know she suffers from pregnancy sickness, but even knowing that, she looks less pregnant that I do (and I'm NOT!) in the green dress in the blog that was linked to.

myrtleWilson · 30/01/2018 22:06

its not a million miles off from the dress that Princess Victoria wore earlier in the day - and the ruffle-y bottom is a style that Kate's worn before hasn't she?

chantico · 30/01/2018 22:06

There's too much frill for a fabric with that bold a pattern.

OTOH, if aim was to camouflage bump, it's succeeded - she hardly looks PG at all

NotCornflakes · 30/01/2018 22:06

It's pretty awful! If it wasn't so long and frilly the material might not look so bad. Princess Victoria of Sweden looks very chic in her black dress by comparison.

bluebell34567 · 30/01/2018 22:08

I think she changed her stylist something.

Fraying · 30/01/2018 22:08

I like it. I think it works much better in photos from a distance so the overall effect in RL would be quite striking.

megletthesecond · 30/01/2018 22:11

back I wonder if the dress might be surprisingly slimming. There's pics of the DoC in a tailored blue coat at a recent hospital visit and she has a decent sized bump in those pics Confused.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 30/01/2018 22:12

Wow that dress is absolutely awful and I normal love her style but I must say for 7(?) months preggers she looked amazing!

NorthernLurker · 30/01/2018 22:14

That coat was a maternity cut and definitely showed the bump.

toomanycreambuns · 30/01/2018 22:16

Normally looks lovely.

Granny's curtains spring to mind...

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 30/01/2018 22:17

Awful dress imo, tho it's good to see her being a bit more adventurous I suppose. Just wish she would improve her posture. She always looks horribly round shouldered, stand up straight please! Drop the heels and go flat if you can't stand comfortably in heels.

Fozzleyplum · 30/01/2018 22:25

Kate looks good; the dress doesn't! Far too much going on and although that old gold is one of my favourite colours, it's far too busy with the pattern and I think Kate suits clearer, less autumnal, colours.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/01/2018 22:29

I liked the green dress and coat she wore earlier in the day.

This one... well it's something different for her - she tends to be more sartorially adventurous when overseas - but I'm not sure about the colour and the ruffles. If it was a jewel-toned hue and cocktail-length then it might look glamorously 1940s.

octonaught · 30/01/2018 22:31

Well I think the colour is supposed to be "on trend". Unfortunately it does not suit Kate.

goose1964 · 30/01/2018 22:36

At least it's not boring. Horrendous yes but certainly not boring

AlbertaSimmons · 30/01/2018 22:41

It’s too “fashiony” for her. She’s safe/frumpy and can’t pull off fashion. She’s also too pregnant for such a busy pattern- she looks like a sofa, but the main problem is her hairstyle. That dress is crying out for relaxed boho hair, not frumpy dumpy chignon hair.

KindDogsTail · 30/01/2018 22:46

I think it's unusual, dramatic, elegant and luxurious.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/01/2018 22:47

I think she's just not into clothes and fashion the way say, Diana or Princess Margaret was. She always looks most at ease when she's doing a sporty engagement that lets her wear trainers and run around on a field.

MikeUniformMike · 30/01/2018 22:55

Princess Diana had some dreadful outfits in the 1980s.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 30/01/2018 22:56

Most certainly wore that for a bet. Definitely won 😀

BeaLola · 30/01/2018 23:02

Ignoring Kate's busy curtains what about Alicia vikanders dress - she looks rather nun like covered up in blue nylon - she looks frumpy

SleepIsForTheWeek · 30/01/2018 23:03

It's awful. She does normally play it safe but this is so far the other end of the scale, it just doesn't suit her at all. The colour makes her look so washed out.
Is she really 7 months pregnant? She's tiny! She does look tired though.

laramara · 30/01/2018 23:11

Usually Erdem dresses are very stylish, but this one somehow manages to look cheap and not too different from an M&S horror.
I think we have become accustomed to seeing Kate in more classic styles which suit her better

Farmerswife36 · 30/01/2018 23:15

Carpet springs to mind! And bad VERY BAD carpet at that ! Sack the stylist I say . It's horrible

RosinaAlmaviva · 31/01/2018 00:21

Oh Erdem. Earlier today I was thinking that the Catherine Walker coat with the faux fur was one of Kate's best looks, ever. Then she appears in this.

I like the fabric (although the colour doesn't do much for Kate) and it would make a nice cheongsam dress. But that dust ruffle is heinous and so are the sleeves.

I don't remember liking any Erdem dress ever with the exception of Princess Eugenie's engagement dress.
