Kate's dress - Stockholm visit

I think she normally dresses very well but this looks like her suitcase was lost in transit and somebody in the Palace in Stockholm very kindly offered to run her up a dress from curtains ( a la The Sound of Music ) that they were donating to a charity shop.

Well good for her for going for something a bit out there rather than playing it safe. It takes a bit of getting used to when you first see it but what the heck. Life would be dull if we all wore tasteful black dresses and nothing else

Cost a couple of grand too

That's horrendous, awful pattern, colour and that is spectacularly ugly ruching. I applaud the taking a risk but jesus, it's like going from crochet to nude skydiving levels of risk

She has always looked so lovely. I wonder what happened here ?

It looks better in other photos. Crown Princess Victoria, also a v elegant dresser, is wearing a rather dull black dress and I think Kate looks good next to that. Loved her Catherine Walker outfit from earlier too.

Minority here it seems but I like it. It's more interesting than her usual style

I've got one that's a similar pattern but sort of more casual: it's cut to be worn open over jeans. I am sort of in love with it but have no idea where to wear it.

Clearly the answer is to wear it next time I'm rocking with the Stockholm royals

That fabric in a very simple cut - OK
But all together -hellish
It's got it all! Flowers, satin, colours, buttons, ruffles!

I'd say there's just too much fabric. If it finished where the bottom ruffle starts, and same on the arms, it could be a lovely dress. I personally like the fabric/pattern, it's just outdone by the sheer volume. Shame.

Trying to imagine myself wearing that at 7 months pregnant 🤣.

Aside from this being the Erdem reply to the M&S pink dress of Summer 2017, the really big problem is the patterned carpet with which it clashes violently. It looks much better when Kate's standing on the wooden floor. I bet it felt nice on her tummy though.

Oh dear, No. That is awful, not like her at all. I did notice she had a handbag similar to MM today. Kate usually has much smaller bags. I did like her earlier dress and coat...and the bag.
