Kate's dress - Stockholm visit

Your thought please.
I think she normally dresses very well but this looks like her suitcase was lost in transit and somebody in the Palace in Stockholm very kindly offered to run her up a dress from curtains ( a la The Sound of Music ) that they were donating to a charity shop.

But lots of high profile women have a "non confrontational" style without being so dull. The two things are different

Anatidae · 05/02/2018 20:24

The ‘dullness’ IS the aim. She's high profile with a very specific set of restrictions - she is deliberately moulding herself into that, and has been for years. It’s not an accident or that she has no fashion sense - she has access to almost unlimited resources of designers and stylists. It’s a deliberate choice.

Charismam · 06/02/2018 17:27

I agree. Why do people expect kate moss from kate middleton?. Im sure the notion that she should dress any6thing other than appropriately is 'none of her business' iyswim

deaddeadgood · 06/02/2018 18:30

There is dullness but then there is wtaf

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/02/2018 15:55

Kate was out and about again today in another excellent coat. Outerwear is definitely her strong point!

millymae · 10/02/2018 09:34

Call me old fashioned but I think that many of her clothes look unbalanced in that she wears high heels with coats and dresses that look just that bit too short.
You might think that she’s got good legs so why not show them off but I stand by my view that an extra inch on the length would improve things.

WipsGlitter · 10/02/2018 18:53

On a slight tangent , but does anybody follow Deborah Brett? She's now on what looks like her fourth holiday this year having just flown in from her Ibiza house. How on earth does she afford this lifestyle. I googled her husband and he seems to be a very minor film director. And I don't think she works apart from for the wardrobe icons girls!!

WipsGlitter · 10/02/2018 19:18

Sorry - wrong thread!

eloisesparkle · 10/02/2018 20:37

Oh Wips you had me perplexed. Glad you clarified. Smile

It's the BAFTAs next weekend so another opportunity for a gown.

WipsGlitter · 13/02/2018 18:15

I know this is a Kate thread but looking at Meghan today she needed to take those trousers up a smidge.

The cross body bag is an interesting departure as well. I personally love a cross bias bag even though I've realised it makes my knockers look massive.

eloisesparkle · 14/02/2018 08:48

I loved Meghan's coat and bag. I don't like those flared trousers on anybody.
I'll be sticking to my skinnies. Smile

The trousers are very mid-noughties. I preferred the cropped tuxedo ones she wore to that awards ceremony. I'll be interested to see what her wedding dress is like - I'm imagining something fairly sleek and very different from Kate's.

SamanthaBrique · 18/02/2018 19:39

Her BAFTAs dress is an improvement on the Scandinavian monstrosities but it's a shame she didn't wear black to support the #TimesUp movement. I know the royals aren't meant to get political but surely the rights of women to not be harassed or assaulted is beyond politics?

WipsGlitter · 18/02/2018 19:45

I personally think the whole wear black thing is a bit silly.

Nice dress - but a seam down the middle of the skirt? My kids m would be horrified! Fab emeralds!

WipsGlitter · 18/02/2018 19:46

my mum, not my kids m ffs.

deaddeadgood · 18/02/2018 20:57

I don't understand this she can't wear black nonsense. She wore that black lace temperley dress loads!

eloisesparkle · 18/02/2018 21:39

Wouldn't it have been great if she had worn black.

She looked lovely anyway.
She looked different, the bit of pregnancy weight suits her.

FirstOfHerName · 18/02/2018 22:09

She wears black evening dresses plenty of other times, would've been nice if she could've made a statement here by continuing with that.

WipsGlitter · 18/02/2018 22:12

Make a statement? Jump on a meaningless bandwagon you mean. Wearing black will change nothing.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/02/2018 18:39

She's out at a fashion event tonight sporting another Erdem, but don't think I like it from the footage I've seen so far. Princess Beatrice and Sophie Wessex are there too but no proper shots of their outfits yet.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/02/2018 18:41

It's this dress but she's had an extra frill added to the bottom to make it calf-length and it looks a little frumpy.

WipsGlitter · 19/02/2018 18:55

Sophie looks lovely. She's really found her style.

eloisesparkle · 19/02/2018 20:36

I think Erdem is hugely overrated - I've not seen one of his pieces that I'd like.
Emperors new clothes methinks.
