There must be a quicker way to do make-up?!

I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Every day I wear makeup, I always do:

Primer
Foundation with a beauty blender
Powder
Highlight
Sometimes contour cheeks but only roughly once every two weeks
Fill in eyebrows
Do an eyeshadow for a base colour, not a cut crease or anything
Winged eyeliner
Mascara
Lipstick

This takes me the better part of an hour. It takes me about 10 minutes to do foundation, as I'm paranoid about blending it in and having the coverage that I want. I look like I wear an average amount of it, not like one of this girls you see on Instagram. It shouldn't take this long, should it?! Am I doing something wrong?

Tinted moisturiser, I use fingers to blend.
Wipe fingers on flannel
Eye liner,,which I admit can be a bit more precise
Cream blush, again wirh fingers
Lipstick, blot

2 minutes, max but I do moisturising half an hour before make up.

I do enjoy a longer more leisurely make up when I have time though.

I don't understand how it takes you that long.

Sorry I don't mean to sound rude I just don't understand.

My daily routine is not far off yours (no winged liner) and it takes me 10 mins. Tonight I am going out so will have more. I expect it will take me 30 mins/40 mins tops to:

Primer
Conceler
Foundation (always use beauty blender)
Powder
Contour
Highlight
Eyeshadow Primer
Full on smokey eye with liner
Mascara
Eyebrows
Blush
Lipliner
Lipstick

Most of that time is eyeshadow

Can you break down how long each thing takes you? Maybe we can work out whats taking so long.

OP, maybe you are using the wrong foundation if it takes you so long to blend?

What?! An hour?! Gosh mine takes about 7/8 minutes and I do virtually everything you do...

Except primer, I didn't realise almost everybody else does this. **goes off to google primer

Could you time yourself on each step maybe so you could see where you're spending the time? Winged liner would take me an hour on its own

10 mins on foundation is a lot, but I used to spend probably that long when my acne was bad (this including concealer on the spots.) I agree, try brush/fingers as you can get more coverage if that's your issue, sponges sheer things out a little and can mean more layering needed.

Maybe try different sorts of brow products if the current one takes a while?

I do moisturiser, bare minerals foundation with a brush, blusher, mascara. Takes a maximum of 6-7 minutes!

If I'm going out/on weekends I put on the same amount of makeup as you've described and it takes me about an hour too - I don't like to rush and even I think thats quite quick compared to friends of mine that take hourrrss.

I would say maybe skip the eyeshadow - its probably the least essential part of your makeup routine?

Personally, I only wear mascara and do my eyebrows Mon-Fri and then go all out on the weekend. It means I get to take my time and enjoy doing my makeup on the weekend (and not run out too quickly).
I also like it because then people can tell the difference when I've made an effort and put makeup on. If you wear all of that makeup everyday it is difficult to look much better (if you get what I mean).

Why don't you try and tone it down for weekdays/work and maybe ditch the eyeshadow/eyeliner/lipstick and save for when you're in the mood?

But honestly do whatever makes you feel good! I think an hour to do all of that makeup is pretty reasonable. Personally it takes me ages to do winged eyeliner because I'm rubbish at it and thats why I don't bother with it everyday.

Try microblading for your brows. You don't have to do them again everyday then ?

What foundation are you using? I'm a massive makeup addict
Just timed my routine which is my complete basics - foundation, conceal, powder, blush, 2 eyeshadows, pencil liner smudged, blusher, mascara. Including a quick cleanse and moisturise it was 9 minutes
My eyebrows are tattooed on so I didn't have to do them

I used to use a beauty blender but unless I'm going out I have a blank canvas brush that's amazing, you can literally buff foundation on in a minute

Try doing your eyes first. I don't know why but my make up is always on quicker when I do this.

Ooh also always make sure that there's only what you need in your make up bag. Store spares/extras somewhere else so you're not rummaging around to find things. And make sure your pencils are sharp and your brushes clean - maybe do this at a different time to when you do your makeup. It's a lot easier to be fast and accurate with a sharp pencil than a blunt one.

Takes me around 5 minutes, while shouting at NT kids to get dressed.
I blend quickly with a brush, only apply one coat of mascara and never do winged eyeliner

I'll admit I don't bother or fuss with expert application for every day. As long as I look presentable, I'm happy

I did it and timed it but didn't put on eyeliner or lipstick.

Foundation- 4.05 minutes
Powder- 59 seconds
Highlighter- 0.30 seconds
Eyebrows- 4.10 minutes
Eyeshadow- 2.32 minutes
Mascara- 3.09 minutes

Full face takes 20 if I really focus on getting it perfect...

Quick job involves CC cream and mascara (and usually looks awful so don't do that).

Please no judgement but I'm working on a 'permanently made-up' solution. Started with full body laser hair removal so I will never have to shave/wax again! Planning to get my eyebrows tattooed on as well as my eyeliner flicks and eyeshadow. Then semi-permanent eyelash extentions (last about 6 weeks) and then sunbeds/fake tan instead of doing foundation and powder.

Realistically I will be amazed if I ever finish the rest of my laser treatment (only done 2 of 8 so far). But wouldn't it be nice to roll out of bed and look good!!!

I wear the same amount of make up as you OP and it takes me an hour too, I enjoy putting make up on though so don't rush it. I find most of the time is taken up by eyeliner/shadow so if I want to leave the house quick I just do primer, foundation, blusher and eyebrows. That cuts the time by about a million minutes 😂 and is the absolute minimum I need to leave the house.

Make up takes 7-10 mins:

Foundation: 3 mins
Kohl eyeliner: 1 minute with blend
Mascara: 30 seconds
Eyebrows: 2 mins
Blusher: 20 secs

How the hell can make up take one hour???

OP I'm with you completely! It takes me at least 5 mins just to do my base / foundation. Like you I use a beauty blender and need it to be completely blended and with the right amount of coverage, I look like I wear an average amount of makeup too, nothing major.

I wish it didn't take me so long! I can't even comprehend how people can do their whole face in 10 mins

5 minutes on foundation is not an average amount of makeup...
