So I have been gifted some money unexpectedly, and would like to splurge and get myself a lovely handbag. I buy very little for myself so am very excited at the prospect! I already have - and treasure - a LV summer bag and a mulberry small going out bag.
I'm happy to spend £1-£1.5k as a real treat. So if it were you which bag would you go for?

What a lovely way to treat yourself!

I just bought a Balenciaga City (Navy/chrome) - which is probably the top end of your budget (bought in EUROS so not sure what they retail for in UK). I love it because it doesn't scream designer, it's casual and modern. I have to say I find Mulberry Bayswater a bit old lady though they are absolutely a classic.

So many bags of the moment are very structured and formal looking, (like Thatcher carried) or your archetypal 'shopper' (like Bayswater) - this one was neither and also wasn't suede. Chloe bags are gorgeous this season but so much impractical suede I couldn't justify it.

Enjoy shopping! Smile

I like Tory Burch, they are quite cheap so you would have money left over

I also love Anya Hindmarch

Love all of these

an oxblood Mulberry Tessie hobo (an absolutely beautiful bag, it makes me smile each time I use it)

fourlittlethings this is the bag I really really want! Did you buy new or second hand, I don't think this style is made any more?

traingal · 18/09/2017 11:07

Oh that is a lovely bag. Also can't find it online...

What do people think of this two in one number? Can't decide if I love it or hate it. Also surprisingly like the gold ochre one but suspect I'd go with oxblood as it's more practical if I were to choose it... Also think this is lovely too

I keep coming back to the zipped croc bayswater . I agree it's a bit old in styling but I think it's beautiful

Just realised they're all Mulberry. Not sure what that says about me!

here there where did you get your Balenciaga City? And how heavy is it? I've wanted one for literally years.

Primrose06 · 18/09/2017 21:04

Enjoy shopping . What a great idea.
I feel like the poor one on here. My two treats were modalu. Suit my needs.
You will see something that is you.

I have nothing to contribute to the discussion save to say that I LOVE a MN designer bag thread. Brings them all out Grin

HmmmHashtag · 18/09/2017 21:12

I have a collection of Mulberrys which were all GIFTED to me Grin The zipped Bayswater is my every day bag, it's like a tardis is and is lighter to carry than the regular bays. I have it in oak and I don't baby it at all , it's very robust!

QueenMortificado · 18/09/2017 21:12

Traingal the second two you've posted absolutely give me the feels. I LOVE LOVE the middle bag of your three. It's going on my birthday wish list

herethereandeverywhere · 18/09/2017 21:12

EUR1,695 Brown Thomas Dublin. I'm pretty sure I paid more than necessary though - have a google for one.

It's not too heavy - I find it comfiest in the crook of my arm - using the shoulder strap makes me ache as it's one sided.

I'm so pleased with it - even more so than when I first got it after lusting after one for a while (and I've wanted a navy bag for eons). Smile

HmmmHashtag · 18/09/2017 21:51

Also theres a site called Naughti Pigeons Nest and she has some incredible 2nd hand bags. Currently drooling over the Chanels on there 😍

Itsraininagain · 18/09/2017 22:44

Dancer, I got it in HoF last November. Love it ... one might pop up on one of the Mulberry facebook groups if you keep an eye out - or ask on there as someone might be willing to sell. I packed mine away for the summer months but it will be coming out soon - it's a really nice bag, not too heavy and sits well on my shoulder. Hope you can find one.

Baby those are beautiful! Very similar to mulberry in style but half the price - I'll be interested to hear if anyone has one and what the quality is like

AngeloMysterioso · 19/09/2017 19:54

I'd go for a YSL sac de jour. Sturdy, classic, elegant, will go with anything

Sorry if I missed any info haven't read the whole thread.

For everyday use classic style always a winner mulberry Bayswater, givenchy Antigona grain tot ( though its kind of small)

I don't like screaming design prada patten bags or Burberry checked bags , als Too many fakes going around.

I would pick classic design but less used brand ( Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent).

And enjoy your purchase!

JamdaniSari · 19/09/2017 20:45

YSL clutch bag (can't think of the exact name off the top of my head.)
How about Chanel...for that £ you'd probably only be able to get a WOC/wallet on a chain....still so pretty and def an investment piece!
Enjoy your stay :)

QueenMortificado · 19/09/2017 20:52

DML10 gets you 10% off the demellier bags FYI

ReallyConvolutedCareerHistory · 19/09/2017 21:06

The YSL bags are the only designer bags I've ever lusted for 😍
