Shit products - don't waste your money

A couple of times recently, I've been so flabbergastingly disappointed with a product, I've wanted to tell other people, to save them from the same pain. So I thought it might be useful for us to have a thread, where we could all share this stuff.

I'll start...

Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner, which should be renamed Useless Conditioner. I had high hopes. It promises to stop fine hair from getting bogged down with heavy conditioner. The trouble is that it also doesn't condition or do basic detangling. My DP (who has a hearing problem) could hear my hair breaking when I was brushing it after using the conditioner. That bad.

LOVE Dandelion - best make up item ever, in my book.

abigailgabble · 26/08/2017 21:12

ameliorate for KP Angry

Cakescakescakes · 26/08/2017 21:13

Ive hated Batiste and Co Lab dry shampoos as they are so overwhelmingly fragranced. Klorane is a bit pricier but is 100 times better. No crazy smell and it comes in a white and brown version for dark hair. Brilliant.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 26/08/2017 21:14

No 7 mascara - tried several - awful.

I use Lancome Dolleyes now.

Yy to Batiste. Instead I use Fudge Big Hair powder.

Kikibanana86 · 26/08/2017 21:14

I love the root spray but I have black hair so it's probably easier if your dark.

I'm not impressed by any benefit products except the bronzers.

Beadieeye · 26/08/2017 21:18

Ysl touche éclat is just like pink water that does nothing
The only Benefit things I like are the perfumes, the concept behind some of the makeup seems outdated now and it is difficult to work with and isn't very pigmented
I don't get the hype about anything Liz Earle, maybe the products don't agree with my skin type but never had problems with any other brands
Soap and glory makeup/skincare although I LOVE the body care products
Flowerbomb perfume
Charlotte tilbury eyeshadow quads. Unless I got a dud, there is no colour payoff whatsoever

SylviaPoe · 26/08/2017 21:21

Benefit seem to be selling off a huge range of stock, so I wonder if they're about to have a massive overhaul of their range.

Rinceoir · 26/08/2017 21:23

I like Aussie Hair products. Love Benefit They're Real mascara too- Although I do have long thick dark lashes already. And I love YSL touche eclat.

I hated the Big Hair- borrowed from a friend, had to chop my hair off to get it out more than once and looked really frizzy after. My hair is resistant to all styling and is very thick though so figured was my fault. Agree about Chanel nail polish- useless, sticky, chips really easily. Hate Batiste dry shampoo- even the dark coloured one seems to make my hair look greyer!

I've tried a few Mac foundations- all have been too thick and none pale enough for me, and have given me a horrible rash to boot.

crazymissdaisy · 26/08/2017 21:25

Mine have already been named and shamed! I love the toy shop feeling of benefit counter but found their bronzer ? Hula? Like clay dust. The pink dusty blusher is like the kind you put on one of those girls world doll heads. They're real mascara gave me three long flaky lashes on each eye.... ( love benetint though). Also thumbs down to doublewear; aged me ten years, and gave me spots. It's somehow so much worse when it's some high end product every one has saved about and you splash out guiltily and your treat goes wrong!

missyB1 · 26/08/2017 21:26

Casting creme gloss hair colour - left my hair in terrible condition!

Aussie hair products leave my hair feeling like straw.

londonista · 26/08/2017 21:26

I love the root touch up spray, it's my saviour. My regrowth at the sides is white and fine though so I need the barest amount to cover it. And a test spray always in the sink first as the nozzle sometimes is dry and the first spray can be too heavy.

I'm also one who didn't get on with Bio Oil. Think it must just be me though, cos people love it.

My cupboard in bathroom is rammed full of expensive products I hate. Oh the shame. I can't bring myself to throw them out and I can't give them away as used.

londonista · 26/08/2017 21:27

All the bath products from The Sanctuary, the orange ones, bring me out in a rash every time.

ineedwine99 · 26/08/2017 21:31

Vinchy dermablend foundation. Cakey and powdery. Rubbish, can't bring myself to chuck it though.

Lauralou69 · 26/08/2017 21:34

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser oil free.....looks great when you first put it on then it oxidizes and you go orange snd greasy!

Rainatnight · 26/08/2017 21:35

Yes, crazymissdaisy, exactly! I hate that feeling of guilty treat going wrong too. I had that with Bobbi Brown BB cream.

NYX badunkadunk mascara. It just does not even attempt to dry. It just smears down my face and across my eye lids.

BBH gave me Anthea Turner hair. Fine if that's the look you want, but its not for me.

All bronzers. Putting brown things on my freckley face just makes me look like I forgot to wash for a week.

Greenteandchives · 26/08/2017 21:37

I wasted nearly £40 on Kerastase shampoo and conditioner. Not as good as the Argan stuff from the Poundshop.

JaneEyre70 · 26/08/2017 21:44

I bought a Charlotte Tilbury mascara (Legendary Lashes) after reading such rave reviews on here. And it's awful awful awful. The first one I had just dispensed thick oily gloop, that spread all around your eyes and completely ruined any make up so you had to take it all off and start again. It was like an oil slick, once it spreads - boy it spreads. So I sent it back, thinking I had a faulty one that to be fair, they replaced without question and by next day delivery. New one is exactly the same. And it was £25, to essentially look like a panda.

Hulder · 26/08/2017 21:46

I think you have to have the right skin for Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser. It used to be my holy grail product - then I sorted my skin out and wasn't so oily any more. Used it again and wondered why my makeup was coming off in dry flakes Hmm

leccybill · 26/08/2017 21:46

LOL at Anthea Turner hair Grin

Soap n Glory have a new dry shampoo out called The Rushower, I think it's good and I love the smell.

Charles Worthington Root Concealer good.

Christian Dior mascara in silver tube, goes on lovely but snudges onto my lids as day goes on. Not a good look.

BuzzKillington · 26/08/2017 21:49

That St Tropez in shower stuff.

Biggest waste of money ever.

Ditto BBH - if anyone wants mine, let me know.

augustrat · 26/08/2017 21:50

Clairol Nice n Easy.

Dripped everywhere and dye was impossible to get out of the Amtico flooring. Colour also shite and lasted about 3 weeks.

tigercub50 · 26/08/2017 21:51

I wonder if they have changed Batiste as it used to work really well on my hair but now I can't really see any difference. I have coloured it but wouldn't think that alters the effect.

margaritasbythesea · 26/08/2017 21:51

Clarins primer - did absolutely nothing

Loreal Nanoblur - it looked like I had made a weak icing sugar solution and rubbed it on my face

John Frieda Salt Spray - you know when you go for a walk by the sea on a windy day in Novemebr and you have a great time but your hair looks shit?

Max Factor lipfinity - I love Max Fator but this looked like I had put something on my lips deliberately to make them look like a puckered arsehole.

M and S Semi permenant mascara - It would not in fact stay on my eyelashes at all.

Cupoteap · 26/08/2017 21:55

Shameless place marking
