Is Joules 'mumsy'?

Ladycocobrazil · 21/05/2017 13:39

Bought a new top from Joules, tunic with bright flowers on and my husband says I look mumsy. To be fair I am a mum of 2 and 40 but just wanted to know what the consensus was about Joules stuff?

I think so ....: like you I'm a 40 something mum of two and have a couple of joules tops which make me look exactly that lol

Jmangel · 21/05/2017 13:44

Wouldn't touch it sorry and I've got 5 years on you.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 21/05/2017 13:44

I think most of it does, sorry. I don't like the term mumsy though, it just seems boring to me.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 21/05/2017 13:45

I meant Joules seems boring, not the term mumsy.

Crochita · 21/05/2017 13:55

Frumpy. I'm 51 and wouldn't wear their stuff.

whatiswrongwithyou · 21/05/2017 13:58

Yes definitely - typical middle class Mummy...

don't you just love autocorrect! Mumsy

BusterGonad · 21/05/2017 14:04

It's up there with Fatface and White stuff for me!

rollonthesummer · 21/05/2017 14:05

I like Fat Face and White Stuff Grin

Aliveinwanderland · 21/05/2017 14:08

I'm 31 and wear a lot of joules! A few items I avoid but most of it I don't find mumsy at all!

Some of it is. The flowery horsey stuff.

The stripey breton tops are the bollocks though, and so much better quality than anywhere else.

Nowhere on this planet is as frumpish as White Stuff though. Fatface tries to keep up, but doesn't generally look as though Maria has been at Captain Von Trapp's (stiff) curtains.

Ladycocobrazil · 21/05/2017 14:17

I love Fat Face and White Stuff!

OP posts:
SchnitzelVonKrumm · 21/05/2017 14:18

It is very definition of mumsy.

VintagePerfumista · 21/05/2017 14:18

White Stuff, Fat Face, Monsoon, M & S and Monsoon- all made in the same factory shop up the road from me.

And it shows.

VintagePerfumista · 21/05/2017 14:20

Arghhhhh, have now got foul tunicky things from WS at the top of the page. Undoubtedly to be worn with beige chino cut offs and birkies.

tessiebear4 · 21/05/2017 14:21

Uber mumsy. Sorry!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 21/05/2017 14:25

If you like it does it matter what we or your dh think? My dh isn't a fan of my bleached blonde hair but I don't care Grin

WellErrr · 21/05/2017 14:26

I'm 30 and wear loads of Joules. They do THE BEST stripey tops and tweed jackets.

Maudlinmaud · 21/05/2017 14:26

Was going to put on a joules scarf this am. Put it back on the rack. Scarf + joules = extra mumsy. I have a few bits and pieces namely the harbour tops and a raincoat but admit I subscribe to the mumsy look most of the time Grin

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 21/05/2017 14:34

Maybe its an age thing. I looked quite good in tweed/Bretton tops when I was in my 20's but now I'm late 30's they definitely frump me. Likewise floral patterns.

TheLionQueen1 · 21/05/2017 14:34

I agree either WellErr also 30 and can't get enough of their stripey tops!

VintagePerfumista · 21/05/2017 14:43

I'm 51 and my washing line has currently 8 Joules/Seasalt stripy tops on it. 5 are mine and 3 are dd's. Grin Just avoid the flowers and sequinny things.

whereiscaroline · 21/05/2017 14:46

I'm 29 and own a huge amount of Joules clothes. I don't find it mumsy at all, with the exception of their pyjamas perhaps.
