Wow what a thread! op, sorry for your news.
I'd buy a couple of nice Nivaldo de Lima bags, (you may have change!) or maybe Balenciaga or Celine.
Unbelievably smug holier than thou types on this thread.
Indulging yourself is frowned upon on mumsnet, it seems.

TheoriginalLEM · 22/01/2017 08:43

I don't understand the go on holiday remarks. The bag i assume would last a fecking sight longer than a holiday!

i read your update OPFlowers

You never have to justify a purchase but i do have a concern. I would worry that the bag would represent something sad for you. If that makes sense. But maybe wistful rather than sad.

Id definitely go for something bespoke rather than off the shelf and i absolutely want to be holding it in my hands before i bought it.

The other day i saw a lovely embossed leather bag in the cheapo leather shop. I nearly bought it. It was £50 but the quality was shite. If i had your budget id want abag like that but made well and just for me.

ChuckSnowballs · 22/01/2017 08:44

Why, why, why do all these joy suckers come on these threads?? Why open a thread about designer handbags if you don't like bags???

I never come on these threads. I accidentally click on them when the stupid ad at the top of the page sends it flying down and what I came for is not the thing I expected. EG just now, I wanted something completely different.

But the whole 'Hobo' designer bag thing, is still really really crass.

TheoriginalLEM · 22/01/2017 08:45

See fluffycloudland, i cannot imagine paying £1300 on a bag from an outlet centre Shock Surely thats where they sell off their 2nds?

Livinabarnn · 22/01/2017 08:48

Hi Just

You most definitely deserve a treat. I admire the fact that you sound like you're facing, what must be a very hard time, with a positive attitude. Sending you a mumsnet hug.

To bags, very exciting. I personally would look at mytheresa. I wouldn't look at labels but would just choose a bag that you love. I would also consider looking at less a known brands too. I love Tods at the moment and Smythson bags.
This is something I'm lusting over.

Well under your budget, but I would then spend the rest on a beautiful coat.
Oh and shoes too!
Let us know what you decide on.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 22/01/2017 08:50

I know nothing about handbags these days but I've always wanted a little classic Chanel bag with a chain. The closest I came to buying one was on a holiday in Dubai which we had booked to get over our own seven years of failed IVF. So I totally get wanting to treat yourself. I actually dragged my DH out of the shop because he was going to to buy me the bag and I felt guilty about the money.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 22/01/2017 08:56

I have never once noticed what kind of of bag someone is using and couldn't identify any type of bag if it was held up in front of me. So I'd like a 5p supermarket bag filled with 1299.95 in cash please.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/01/2017 08:58

Lem

Last season or sale, any seconds are clearly marked. I've seen homeware marked as seconds, clothes etc not so much.

imjessie · 22/01/2017 08:59

Save £300 for the matching purse .. seriously these threads make me laugh .. fuck the fuck off with your suggestions of shitty bags and a holiday !! The op wants a feckin )1300 bag !!! Be nice or be quiet !!

FuckDietCoke · 22/01/2017 09:16

Aw OP, I'm sorry to hear your news. I have the Mulberry Bayswater in 'Clay' it's lovely, carries everything I need and is comfy to wear. I'd pick this bag over and over again!

I hope you find one you absolutely love!

If you had c. £1,300 to spend on a bag...
Blueberryblueberry · 22/01/2017 09:16

FFs. Op, your situation sounds shit. Flowers buy yourself a beautiful bag and fuck anyone who says anything horrible. I presume some of these posters who are giving you a hard time are driving around in fairly nice cars and not driving a clapped out old banger or the cheapest car they could find which will get them from a-b and didn't give the rest of their money to charity Hmm or they have a piece of expensive furniture or something rather than a bloody mdf ikea job. It's basically the same thing. You have the money, buy something beautiful that you will love and you will have forever. I would also go with a Chloe or maybe see if I could stretch to a pre- loved Chanel woc. Owning a Chanel is the dream Grin

mscongeniality · 22/01/2017 09:24

So sorry to hear that OP Flowers

For £1300ish a Chanel Walet On Chain maybe? I love mine it's very classic and if you get black it will go with every outfit day or night!
If you want something bigger maybe the Givenchy Antigona or try Gucci they have some lovely bags from their Marmont collection.

Kirriemuir · 22/01/2017 09:26

These threads are always full of joy suckers. It's always the same. Feck off somewhere else if you don't like/wouldn't do it/send it to charity shite.

Anyways, you could look on some of the good Facebook pages for mulberry and get 2 good preloved bags for that amount.

I'd get a Bayswater as a classic and then possibly a lily.

Ollycat · 22/01/2017 09:35

I'd go for a Prada Saffiano or a Gucci Disco (the Disco would give you change).

I love my Mulberry but I think people can get too hung up on them - there's a lot of gorgeous bags out there!!

Newbrummie RTFT!

OP I'm so sorry for your news - awful- ignore the nasty comments- buy the bag you've always dreamt of. My Mulberry was bought after a very very awful time - it's my work bag and - call me shallow- it makes me smile whenever I use it - buy the bag which will make you feel the same Flowers

catinbooots · 22/01/2017 10:28

Bollocks chuck you clicked by accident.

And if you did, why the need to comment??

Lol @ crass. So you don't own anything just because you want it but don't actually need it? Holidays? Jewellery? A dishwasher? A smart phone?

FFS

catinbooots · 22/01/2017 10:30

Newbrummie who on the thread said that a designer bag is a 'priority' ?

catinbooots · 22/01/2017 10:32

Sorry OP for shouting all over your thread. People just PISS ME RIGHT OFF with their nonsense.

Will shut up now and enjoy looking at all the linked bags Grin

BillStickersIsInnocent · 22/01/2017 10:39

These threads are so funny. None of anyone's business how you spend your money. I go with the old architect's saying - spend the most on things you touch every day.

A beautiful bag that you use every day and brings you pleasure for many years is worth every penny.

Some people spend on holidays, some on hobbies, some on pets. No-one goes into the Tack Room threads and tells people they are selfish and to buy a bench/holiday/give to charity instead.

Enjoy your bag OP, I'd go for a Chloe (Marcie or Paraty) if I was in your position.

ChuckSnowballs · 22/01/2017 10:44

Bollocks chuck you clicked by accident.

Actually I did click on it by accident. I was aiming for something about 4 posts down in 'active' and as per usual, the page flips down just as I clock on it. I feel the need to comment on anyone thinking that Hobo style anything is 'gorgeous'.

I do not have a dishwasher. I do not wear any jewellery apart from one silver ring that I made myself. I have a smart phone as I have it through work. But none are 'Hobo' styled. Do you really not see how insulting this is to homeless people who cannot afford a roof over their head - taking their 'style' and making a mint from it? I mean that really is taking the piss.

HoneyDragon · 22/01/2017 10:57

Would you prefer it if it was called a Whittington?

The terms been around for a very very very long time, based on the bag over a stick. I'm unsure how it's offensive to homeless people?

Carnabyqueen · 22/01/2017 10:59

I just don't see the point of spending such an obscene amount of money on a bag. You could buy a really beautiful, classy one for a fraction of that price. Why OP?

HoneyDragon · 22/01/2017 11:01

Are they could call it a bindle?
