...what would it be, and why?

The Stella McCartney one looks cheap. Is the leather decent quality? Looks like plastic to me.

JustHereForThePooStories · 22/01/2017 00:18

Ah Mumsnet, you never fail.

Not that I ever feel I should have to explain myself for anything but...

Had £7k saved for IVF. Got the news yesterday that it has less than a 1% chance of working so we've canned the idea. After 7 years of TTCing, we're at the end and I'm not getting a baby so I just wanted a fucking Mulberry (or whatever).

Anyway, thanks to those who replied to the question. It's been a fun conversation.

I would buy a house.

Disclaimer: I may not know very much about money. However, if you are spending £1300 on a bag, neither do you.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 22/01/2017 00:21

That's sad OP. Thing is, I'm not interested enough in bags to spend that much (would spend a couple of hundred though) but I don't go on the threads about them and say stupid things about holidays.

JustHereForThePooStories · 22/01/2017 00:22

Not the property market, it seems.

I'm genuinely sorry op Thanks Sad

I was going to suggest you consider stretching the budget a little and look at Vuitton. I used to think meh, till we got involved with them, they really do some fabulous bags. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my price range but I'm happy to be a little S&B enabler to people looking to buy nice things.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 22/01/2017 00:25

I'd buy a £300 handbag and give the rest to a neonatal unit , or research into infertility.

Been there punch 👊

HoneyDragon · 22/01/2017 00:25

And you certainly did not have to justify what you spend your cash on.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 22/01/2017 00:25

Whoops, ignore the punch bit

HoneyDragon · 22/01/2017 00:28

I totes impulse bought a house once ..... it was not £1300. I try not to shop without adaquate supervision now.

Cherryskypie · 22/01/2017 00:29

It's a Stella McCartney, of course it's not leather!

Cherryskypie · 22/01/2017 00:33

I'd buy a holiday. And use the bag money as spends Grin

Pluto30 · 22/01/2017 00:34

Prada saffiano lux tote.

Errrrrrtime.

JanetStWalker · 22/01/2017 00:35

LV Pochette Metis

Durable enough to sustain daily abuse, colour and style would compliment 90% of my wardrobe.

5OBalesofHay · 22/01/2017 00:39

Why are they so expensive?

JustHereForThePooStories · 22/01/2017 00:49

Why are they so expensive?

You wonder how well they'd wear alright. "Vegan leather" seems to be a bit of a catch-all to describe everything from PVC, to organic woven fabric.

The one I posted above is about £700.

You don't have to justify yourself at all. Post more pics, I love bag porn.

I've always wanted a Chanel 2.55 but now I think a Chloe Faye might be my choice.

I also saw a Gucci satchel I liked, I'll try and find a pic.

JustHereForThePooStories · 22/01/2017 00:56

Prada saffiano lux tote

Shock My god, that is just beautiful. Did a quick google and it's coming up as sold out on every site so couldn't see the price. I'd imagine it's well out of my price range but it really is beautiful.

I'd give half to charity. I feel sick to the stomach at the thought of spending that on a bag. I would feel ashamed of myself. Sorry but I would.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 22/01/2017 01:05

Oh honestly. Give the woman a break. Have you RTFT?

Badgoushk · 22/01/2017 01:13

Sorry, yes, I've just RTFT. I'm not judging others. I don't care how other people spend their money. Some people spend loads on holidays vs bags vs furniture vs a car. I'm just saying that if I did that myself I'd feel hideous about it. Each to their own.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 22/01/2017 01:15

Do you ever buy luxury items then at all Badg? Do you have a limit and give all your left over money to charity?

tommytippedup · 22/01/2017 01:20

You might feel hideous about it, but there's no need to tell the OP is there?

Badgoushk · 22/01/2017 01:21

I'm not really into designer stuff to be honest so I've not bought a luxury item. My husband splurged on a car and I didn't veto it but I'd have been just as happy with an old banger. My previous car was a Morris Minor! I haven't spent any money on myself for a long time because money's tight for us these days. We both changed careers and have started at the bottom. I had zero disposable income this month but gave £40 to charity. I think my priorities have changed as I've got older. In my old life, a big splurge purchase would have been an item of (beautiful) second hand furniture. Like a draper's chest.
