Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2017 14:26

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

Brows are newly threaded and looking good, will be tinting them at home tonight (got a new light brown tint which is better for my fair colouring).

I got chatting to the therapist about lash extensions. Now they would be princessy!! Want them so, so badly, but can't afford the maintenance... Sad On the upside, my mum commented today that my natural lashes are looking nice and long. Think this may be an unintended but welcome side-effect of the argan oil that I've been slathering on my face?

My Paul Mitchel 'The Conditioner' leave in arrived today (Low Spend as DH had an Amazon voucher that he gifted to me Grin )

I bought a bag of lemons (DD needed one) so I'm going to try the 'Lemon in Hot Water' that I've read about to clear my skin (I think you drink it first thing. Sounds erm interesting)

PixiGlow is stirring my skin up, I;ve had a few raised lumpy spots but they settle again in a day or so.

I am really going to go for the 5:2 diet.
Walk more.
Keep my nails in a better condition (regularly moisurised, nail strengthener and nail polish.
Cleanse my skin properly and take more time over it generally (well I am 57 now!!!)
Possibly use a mask regularly (well I do have a number of them)
Definately get my hair cut and coloured this weekend.
Spend more time on my poor feet
Keep my body moisturised - how come I have sooooo many body lotions/oil sprays and creams but don't use them! My skin really suffers.
Oh and regularly throw out old make up. I thought I had but still find old mascaras and lipsticks everywhere!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 21/01/2017 08:33

I'm going to have a lovely bath later and do my face pack then. I've treated myself to a trashy mag for the occasion also! Will be doing my nails later too. Little princess day!

TheLovelyLinda · 21/01/2017 09:32

Can I join in, please?

Have just read the thread and these are exactly my goals - healthy eating, taking care of myself a bit more. Exercise - I get enough exercise at work!

Starting tonight with gelling my nails.

Excellent motivational thread, by the way!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 22/01/2017 04:38

Welcome Linda! What colour did you go for on your nails? I have a deep purple on mine but it looks quite neutral still - almost like a taupe colour.

Didn't get round to having my nice bath with facepack last night so might try this evening if I have time. Hope you've all had nice weekends.

Laiste · 22/01/2017 07:17

Can i join?
I'm trying the milk diet. I'm one week in and it's been ok. Allowed up to 4 pints of semi skimmed per day (between 6am and 10pm), decent vitamin tablet in the morn. (which i've been taking for months) and i'm allowing myself a small meal at 5ish as i want to do this long term.

I actually feel better because i'm drinking more fluid than before (i'm a bugger for not drinking enough) and it's so easy to stick to. I've done every diet going in the past, and the easiest ones to stick to for me are simple rules and minimal involvement with actual food.

A massive glass of milk really does stave off the hunger pangs through the day. Running round after 2 year old ect. Hardest thing is sticking to the 'small meal' bit. I cook for a big family at the end of each day and and it's easy to end up eating too much when sat with them at the table.

Laiste · 22/01/2017 07:18

Oh i meant to say - it massively helps that i LOVE milk Grin

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 22/01/2017 08:02

Hi laiste welcome! Aren't you super hungry just drinking milk? Very curious about this! How long have you been doing it for? Results! Do share!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/01/2017 08:46

Hi everyone, I've been awol a bit recently. I need to read back through the thread and catch up! Kids have been poorly and I've got a very un-princessy chesty cough! I've also fallen off the diet wagon totally and will be starting again tomorrow now that I feel a bit better.

On the princess front though, I've done my footner and the peel has started. Considering this was a copy product, I'm impressed with the results and it's a lot cheaper than the real thing. I've also been trying to give myself a bit of time each day for some grooming- so last night I finally waxed my eyebrows!

Going to a christening today and a lot of old school friends will be there who I haven't seen for nearly 20 years. I'm dreading it but I'm going to have to face it!

Still eating oily fish every day & not drinking.

Bravas · 22/01/2017 09:22

Can I just in please? I've been basically princessing for a few weeks now, I was in a bit of a rut and not looking great, few changes so far:

More water, less food, switched to decaff
Aiming to lose 7lb.
Started face masks.
New make up and added a primer.
I have had a proper haircut and learning to go with my natural curl.
Colouring it today to add more vibrance.
Still doing gel nails, keeping up with hand cream.
Using castor oil to promote eyebrow and eyelash growth.
Pushing myself to get out of comfort zone with clothes.
I'm doing 10 mins exercise each night (although in the interests of honesty, I didn't last night).
Aiming for 12k steps a day.

Feeling better about myself and more positive already. Good luck to everyone with their goals.

PotatoWaffleCob · 22/01/2017 10:09

Still haven't made it to the shops for a CC cream. Will have to pick up a footner when I do though as it sounds really good.

I'm sticking to healthy eating (bar a few spoons of Nutella last night!) and have lost a few lbs. I've been walking loads too. I keep coming back and reading this thread for motivation!

Goals for this week: find a mobile hairdresser and book an appointment. Get to the shops for CC cream and footner.

Laiste · 22/01/2017 12:52

timefortea - i must admit there are days when i'm watching the clock for that small meal, and a few evenings i've gone to bed peckish. But in my mind you can't expect to never be hungry if you're trying to loose weight, so i try to think of the hunger as a positive thing. Kind of. The other thing is i'm due on in a couple of days and i'm always bloody ravenous the 7 or 8 days before that.

Results - i've lost weight round my hips a bit. I wear a lot of clingy clothes so it shows when i loose. I don't ever weigh myself. I have a tendency to get depressed/obsessed when i go down that route.

Today is DD4s 'almost birthday' party. (her birthday's next wed) and i've had one pint of milk and a cup of coffee this morn and i'm not that hungry. Dishing up in a min. Will have a small dinner and a tiny bit of cake. Then just milk till bedtime.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/01/2017 18:15

Milk Diet- sounds very drastic, 4 pints a day + small meal.
What will it do to your digestive tract (ie will you get a sluggish lazy colon because theres little for it to work on? )

I have pretty well cut dairy from my diet (not completely) but my main use of milk was in coffee, I use soya. Not sure I could glug a glass of soya milk though.

Milk (and wheat) aggrevates my IBS so I need to limit both.

On the Princessing front, minimal done here. I've put 2 jumpers out to recycle and I',m coveting a cable knit from Woollovers but combining 'Low Spend' and 'Beauty Hoard' means I need to cull more and buy less.

On a happier note. The Eyeko mascara that's been lounging in my make-up drawer (magazine freebie) is really good.Made my eyelashes look almost ok.
I'm starting a new routine of a bath on a Sunday morning rather than a shower. Face mask , hair deep condition ,scrub.
Was going to have my hair cut but I CBA.
Wish I had though, its gone bolshy Hmm

TheLovelyLinda · 22/01/2017 22:07

TimeForTea - Only just managed to do my nails ready for the working week. I'm using BlueSky products at the minute, colour's Cherry Blossom.

Milk diet sounds pretty good!

Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?
TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 23/01/2017 09:22

They look gorgeous Linda - I love red. Mine are a bit shorter than yours and a purpley colour but look quite dark. I have like a dark cherry red on my toes.

Laiste · 23/01/2017 09:22

Oily fish eaten for breakfast today & 3l of water drunk.

Annoyingly I look loads better. I wish cava made my skin look this good Angry

StorminaBcup · 24/01/2017 02:56

You're all doing so well! I've kept up with my weekly face mask and I can see a difference in my skin already. I've ditched the car too, I haven't weighed myself but my jeans are fitting better.

We've all been struck down with norivirus so my princessing is on pause for now!

Littleballerina · 24/01/2017 03:33

Can I ask if there will be a new thread for February or if this will carry on as I would love to join in.

ilovetocook · 24/01/2017 12:31

I've had the most awful week and slipped up a few times on skin care and eating habits but hoping to get back on track especially after my doctors appointment on Monday. It has to get better!
