Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2017 14:26

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

Hi ballerina I'm assuming this one will just keep running in feb and beyond so feel free to join in. I didn't get my lovely bath and facepack at the weekend so I'm going to make sure I do it this weekend! DH is out one night so I'm going to have a pamper night!

Aiming to lose 3 lbs by 31st Jan too. Ambitious but doable!

Laiste · 25/01/2017 08:23

January is such a long dark month ilove. It's easy to loose heart on diets/skincare ect when all you want to do is wrap up in loads of layers against the cold and sit cuddling a hot drink Grin Don't despair if you let the odd day slip. Just carry on on again when you can. As long as you're doing something MOST of the time it's miles better than when you did it NONE of the time.

Milk diet update: Monday went ok in the end. Yesterday was good - stuck to plan. Right now i'm watching DD4 munching on her hot buttery toast next to me and wanting a bit sooooooo badly! I had a coffee earlier and am about to have my pint of milk. I don't want it, but i know it'll stop me being hungry till late morn at least. I've been putting it in the micro for 2 mins as it's a bit nicer on mornings like this.

Plan to stick to it as long as poss tbh. I'll certainly not waste away Grin

I've found an exercise video on YouTube called 10 minute solutions, I'm going to start it Saturday.

They get good reviews on Amazon but you tubes free.

Checkedstripes · 26/01/2017 18:30

I've had my hair done this week (three inches lopped off!) which I really, really love. And am double cleansing my face every night which seems to be doing it some real good although it is a bit dry ATM - too much heating at home and work methinks.

PotatoWaffleCob · 26/01/2017 19:36

I ate a lot of chocolate today and I'm feeling really down. My footner arrived today though. Any advice when best to use it? I take DC swimming on Saturdays so want to avoid being a scabby mess in the pool. If I do it tonight I'm assuming it won't be scabby on Sat but might have completed by next Sat ifkwim?

ChickenVindaloo2 · 26/01/2017 20:57

I've lost 13lbs since Boxing Day doing lo-carb.
Not looking very princessy though as my roots are an inch long! Hair appt booked for Saturday though - roll on payday!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/01/2017 21:56

Bought some hair dye today, and some nip/fab glycolic pads (all nip fab are 1/3 off in boots, or maybe even half price).
My cheap footner has worked but it is very slow to peel. Now after a week, suddenly the top of my feet is peeling! It was much cheaper than footner, but I think I'll fork out for the real deal next time.

Fellow princesses I could do with some help: in my quest to get proper princess skin (smooth, spot free and perfectly peachy) it's become a bit sore when something like fabric touches it and I've got the odd spot. It might be the odd use of facial acidly type products 😭I think I need a decent moisturiser and to feed my skin a bit. Any recommendations?

StorminaBcup · 27/01/2017 18:33

I've just switched to Liz Earl (hot cloth cleanse and polish) and the super moisteriser. I've got sensitive skin but this is great and it's cleared my oily chin. There's probably better ones out there but my budget doesn't stretch that far!

StorminaBcup · 27/01/2017 18:40

My friend also swears by this one from kiehls but it made my face sting.

Forgetmenotblue · 27/01/2017 18:44

I'm very late but can I join in? I've been trying to do better self care for my mental health...
So far,

  • proper haircut and highlights
  • nails neat and filed (no polish for work)
  • taking a proper packed lunch to work rather than nipping to the garage and buying random rubbish
  • body mosisturising after each bath
-face moisturising morning and evening
  • hand cream in work bag for top ups during the day

Aiming for going for a run once a week, no alcohol during the week.

ilovetocook · 27/01/2017 18:49

Stormin my daughter and I love Liz Earle cleanse & polish. I've tried a few samples of her other products too and the alway feel and smell lovely

StorminaBcup · 27/01/2017 19:30

It's great isn't ilovetocook and so easy to use! My sil bought me the Christmas botanicals set so I've been working my through the face masks (spurred on by this thread as I'd usually save them for when I'm going out) and they're all really nice. Definitely a convert. The night serum is great too.

Forgetmenotblue you're doing really well! Can you motivate me too please! What hand cream have you got? I need to buy some to put the sink. I'm constantly washing my hands after nappies and bottles so they're really dry.

Checkedstripes · 28/01/2017 14:15

I might give the liz earle a go - my skin is really feeling annoyed atm. very annoying!

TheLovelyLinda · 28/01/2017 21:21

Trying oh so hard to stick to healthy eating tonight but a particularly bad week has put me onto chocolate and wine tonight.

Shall start again on Monday!

Hope that everyone's having a good weekend?

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 29/01/2017 10:31

I did that lovely soap and glory face mask again yesterday and it was so nice. I really feel like my skin is nice and clear atm. The boots botanical range is on sale here atm so I picked lots of organic goodies like a nice hibiscus night cream and a toning face spritz. Feeling very princessy 👸🏻

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/01/2017 10:48

I've just bought the aldi hand cream in a white tube, it's got a high percentage of glycerin in it & isn't greasy.

Still doing fish for breakfast except Sunday's & drinking 3l water a day. Dry January still being observed.

Yrias · 29/01/2017 15:21

Can I join, fellow princesses? I'm a new mum so in need of it. Joined WW, given up sugar for Jan, trying to get proper skincare going and wear make-up every day. If anyone can recommend a more luxurious version of my current regime, which is Dove soap to cleanse and original Olay Beauty fluid to follow I'd be glad to hear it. Have tried hot cloth but find it makes my face a bit raw and sore, and other moisturisers seem either too heavy, too light or irritate my skin. Does anyone use Clinique mild soap?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/01/2017 19:14

If I need a face soap (like if I;m travelling and don't want to take loads) then L'Occitane Shea Milk (small bar ) works well on my face.

I'm using a Boots Botanical moisturiser at the moment (I like the fact its a tube with a pump dispenser) and some random Aldi serums from the Advent Calender but some of them irritate my eyes.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/01/2017 19:16

Need to Princess my legs , like a Yeti [blush
Armpits are fine.
I need to look for a new Epilator I reckon. Can't be doing with shaving my legs and waxing them is a pallaver.

Not in keeping is it Grin

MaQueen · 29/01/2017 20:01

I had my nails done in LCN 'French Chic' and it is the coolest colour ever. A lovely taupe-grey.

Also had the latest Dermalogica non-chemical peel last week, but wasn't impressed. My skin felt sore while it was being applied, and it stung quite a bit. Then followed 3 days of very pink cheeks and a light rash. Not ideal. My skin feels very smooth now, but don't think it's worth the £70 price tag.

On the fashion front, I have been avidly following the myfashionableforties & littlefashioncloset blogs and I swear my wardrobe has been transformed as a result. Luckily, most of my wardrobe is already very neutral in blacks, greys, navys but I just love how they style things. Simple and low key, but chic.

Did quite a big Zara/H&M/Hush/TopShop order on-line for the essential basics I didn't already have (some biker boats...a grey herringbone coat...a slouchy, grey cardigan...a soft, Victoriana style blouse...some mink suede ankle boots...some Breton tops).

Feeling very excited Smile

Yrias · 29/01/2017 21:00

That's really helpful, 70isalimitnotatarget, I'll look it out next time I'm in town!

Checkedstripes · 04/02/2017 18:17

I've finally found a rose gold nail varnish - model's own, in chrome rose - that I'm in love with. So my nails are nice and shiny atm :) I'm just waiting for my skin to calm down - a couple of horrible under the skin spots on my chin Sad I see lots of face masks in my future Sad

StorminaBcup · 04/02/2017 22:07

That's stunning checked, I've been looking for something different that isn't greige.

My princessing has been limited to a trip to the dentist and lots of walking. My order footner has arrived so I will do that and a face mask while I watch homeland tomorrow night.

humanfemale · 05/02/2017 08:29

From this past week I have:

  • Went to the gym four times
  • Had hair done
  • Had teeth S&P at dentist
  • Had electrolysis on a few broken veins around nose that had been annoying me

BUT

  • Also ate nearly a whole box of Lindt chocolates in one night (divine, but not so Princessey)
  • The electrolysis has scabbed up for a week or so until it heals and looks kind of gross
  • My new highlights are sort of orangey and my hairdresser is on holiday now waah!
