Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

People I have just found that it doesn't really work very well. I've done 2 separate 'stints' at it- the first time I followed the instructions (eg. Once every 2 weeks) but didn't realise you mustn't pluck hairs in between. The second time I did it more often than it said (once a week) and shaved in between. I found that it did seem to slow the growth of some hairs, but it was in no way completely gone. I got fed up and stopped using it. I only use it on my face as I have pcos and have terrible facial hair. The problem I find with shaving in between uses is that 1) I have to shave every day due to the rate the hair grows and this made me feel quite unfeminine, and 2) it leaves tiny black dots on the skin where the hair is which as I have quite a lot made it look like I had horrible blackheads all over my chin.
I was quite disappointed as it had had excellent reviews which is why I'm determined to make one last proper attempt to do it!

Right, done my shopping list for tomorrow- lots of meals planned and lots of veggies! And all afternoon I've been drinking water so have had a few pints today.
That's enough for day 1!!

Ooh any room for another? I'm trying to lose weight this year to get in shape for TTC but it would be good to do a few Beaty bits for me. Goals are -

Gel mani/ pedis every two weeks
Conditioning treatment on hair once a week
Cleanse, tone and moisturise daily
Exfoliate body once a week
Face pack once a week
Regular eye brow threading
10,000 steps a day
2 litres of water a day

ClarissaDarling · 01/01/2017 20:45

I'm in!
Goals are- (similar to many..)
to drink 8 glasses of water daily
to lose 30lb by end of the year
to exercise every day - even if it's just a walk to the shop/stop using car so much!
Copying from pp- to do one self-care act a day: manicure, face/hair mask etc

January goals
new haircut
eyebrows shaped
Lose at least 4lbs

WhiteStars · 01/01/2017 20:50

I'm in! Place marking.
Goal is to lose 6lbs and drink way more water.
Desperately need to reduce sugar intake too.
Aiming to do 30 mins of exercise a day.

victoryinthekitchen · 01/01/2017 20:53

I'm in please. I've lost a bit of motivation in looking after myself and it's definately showing! Don't want to give up on looking my best just yet so here goes! Daily moisturising and drinking more water. Want to streamline my wardrobe this month and clear out the stuff that makes me look frumpy. Self-care act each day.

Kriek · 01/01/2017 21:13

I'm in. My goals are:

Drink more - at least 8 glasses
Walk more - at least 12,000 a day
Eat less - no crisps, cheese or chocolate
Grow my hair and get regular cuts
Moisturise everyday
Continue running and aim for 10k
Look after my hands and nails. Polish and cream regularly.

I'll add more as I think about it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2017 21:21

I think my Step Counter has give up through lack of activity (it 'buzzes' if I go 15 minutes without walking) but I reckon its out of charge rather than me being ultra sloth like.

New epilator I reckon.
Embrace my grey
Don't buy too many any clothes
Get by Smile

Princesspink999 · 01/01/2017 21:30

I am in!!

I'm good with skincare, haircare, epilating etc but just eat so much crap I'm growing by the minute - it needs to stop but I'm always sooooo hungry!!!

umberellaonesie · 01/01/2017 21:37

I'm in I need to do more self-care but all the hippy self care makes me squirm. So this seems much more me and my princess tendency. Wink

8FencingWire · 01/01/2017 21:42

I'm in!
I got my running mojo back, so will be doing that.
I'll try SW, have got an extra 10 kg for about 3 years now!
Will report back :)

DrScholl · 01/01/2017 21:44

oh ffs just get some botox guys and eat less

" princessing"

Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?
Tootsiepops · 01/01/2017 22:38

I just bought a TomTom fitness wrist band thingy. It measures body fat and muscle composition. That should motivate shame me in to action.

Mistykit · 01/01/2017 22:43

I'm in! Place marking while I have a think

SanityAssassin · 01/01/2017 22:59

I'm in

I'm OK with skin care, make up and exercise generally and am not overweight although my diet could use an overhaul and a few pounds down would be fine by me!

For January:

Dry January (yikes!!) although starting on 3 Jan.
Daily vitamin
no bread (I love bread :( )
up my running mileage - attend Club regularly
Try and achieve my daily steps target
Nails weekly
Handcream - buckets of handcream
Colour hair 3-4 weekly
tackle dry skin on feet weekly
some facial treatment weekly
Gut wardrobe and cosmetics - and buy new where needed.
That will do for now as have some non 'princessing' things to achieve too (and Dry January alone is going to send me in to hibernation !)

Heathcliff27 · 01/01/2017 23:07

Placemarking too, i'm also on the 52 small changes thread, hoping to start feeling less sluggish.

FuckingHateRats · 01/01/2017 23:14

I'm absolutely in. Planning to make sure my hair looks 'done' weekdays, drink more water and invest in my skincare.

qazxc · 02/01/2017 09:54

I am going to
Maintain a proper skincare regime
Exfoliate body twice a week
Maintain eyebrows and keep on top of facial hair
Use hand cream, cuticle oil and keep nails a nice shape.
Blow dry hair properly, so that it looks groomed.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/01/2017 10:04

Well I was up for hours in the night with a poorly baby with chicken pox, so couldn't feel less princess like this morning! I am planning a nice bath and pamper tonight so will just rough it today until then. I've already drunk one pint of water though, I'm my mission to rehydrate my liver!
Someone up thread mentioned nip:fab products- I used the glycolic pads last year and they really boosted my complexion so I'm going to sneak a pot of those in when I'm at tesco this morning!

OP posts:
champagneplanet · 02/01/2017 11:01

Can I join too please?

My goals are:

Eat healthier in general as a family, meal plan properly and stick to it. (DC2 due in summer so can't diet but the better I eat the better for baby and me in the long run!)
Do nails weekly, don't pick polish off
Style newly cut hair, don't resort to ponytail everyday!
Keep up nightly skincare regime, face wipes aren't enough!
Start walking more, especially with pram once DC2 arrives
Continue to stay off the wine when DC2 arrives,
I've felt so much better in myself and still enjoyed myself without the hangover!

Good luck everyone!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/01/2017 11:17

I tried co-washing (conditioner only) yesterday - not a bad result. I think I'll have to wash it again sooner though than if it was with shampoo.

Also resolving to apply baby oil after any evening showers (when I go straight into PJs). It leaves skin much nicer than lotion, plus is easier to apply.

BusterGonad · 02/01/2017 12:04

DrScholl yuk who wants Botox? It's not about looking like Katie Price! It's about being your personal best!

willhazboz · 02/01/2017 13:17

Can I join please?
The only thing I am good with is drinking water...get awful infections if I don't drink much so more from necessity.
I was to apply make up every day properly (always put foundation and mascara on but want to do my eyes and remember lipgloss!)
Wear perfume daily
Lose 3-4 stone (baby steps though!)
Also do some skin care things or face mask.
Exfoliate regularly
Shave legs regularly Blush
Exercise more!

Maybe add as I go along!
It's my birthday this week so will be starting healthy eating next week as have lots of things planned this week. But I will be going for a walk in a min!

Checkedstripes · 02/01/2017 14:15

I'd like to join!

For the moment, I can only think of the following things:

  • do more exercise, with the bonus of losing weight (4ish stone to go!)
  • sort out my hair; proper and regular cuts needed
  • remember to use things like hand cream before I get dry, scaly and horrible looking.

I'll probably add to the list as I think of the million things that need sorting Sad

RealHouswifeofBury · 02/01/2017 18:45

I've ordered a footner on line today and I'm going to do a face mask in the bath later.
The healthy eating has been a epic fail today !
