Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2017 14:26

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

I'm in!

crombanna · 07/01/2017 22:54

I'm so in.

Turning 30 this year and kind of twigging that those fine lines on my forehead are NOT going to go away by drinking a bit more. I have been majorly slacking with my skin and hair routine and am feeling a bit blah.

Too scared to do footner for the moment. I'll let you all be the guinea pigs!

My goals:
Cleanse tone and moisturise every night.
Wash face and moisturise in morning.
Mask 1-2/week (anyone tried the Tony Moly Korean ones? They are brilliant).
Start to moisturise. I'm pregnant and CBA but know I should at least try.
Get a proper medical pedicure where they take knives to your hooves Grin
Drink 2L water a day!

I bought a new water bottle and probably did about 1.5L today, not bad.

RealHouswifeofBury · 07/01/2017 22:58

I need a water bottle. Drinking water is my downfall

Broccolirevolution · 08/01/2017 05:59

Hi, I'm in too. Just done a week of healthy eating and no alcohol - even my work night out.
I've got a lot of ideas from this thread. I've ordered a footner, im doing pilates for my stomach every morning and I've ordered a footner Grin
Thanks for the inspiration.

Checkedstripes · 08/01/2017 06:35

Intentions for today after I drag my sorry self out of bed

  • acid face mask (from M&S advent calendar) and a moisture mask after
  • nail treatment and pedicure
  • long hot soak in bath as well I think :)
FishlessCake · 08/01/2017 06:46

Once again soaking my feet. What's the best budget cream for lines?

DancingHouse · 08/01/2017 18:31

So the wardrobe has been cleared out I've got a bag of stuff to eBay and a bag for charity. I've got a few t-shirts that are in good nick but are starting to fade so I'll order some dylon to get them looking like new again. I also must get into the habit of ironing more things to look a bit more pulled together.

Also had a good soak in the tub this afternoon and I feel better already.

More water with the help of a reminder app and getting my shit together early enough in the mornings so I can walk to work will be my next steps. Just need to get in the habit of sorting lunch and picking outfit the night before.

crombanna · 08/01/2017 20:47

Checking in:

Drunk 1.8L water but still got a splitting headache and feel dehydrated.

From cleansing and moisturising for 2 days only I alresdy look less rough. I also think my home mirror is insanely unflattering.

Ate my weight in those bastards KP nuts and chocolate mixes and according to scales at work put on 2kg today. Are we doing health goals too? I've got loads if so...

How budget is budget fishless? I'm thinking after next payday I'm going to get some Boots P+P night serum. It's just under £20.

Fish less didn't one of the Aldi ones win an award? I don't use it, but perhaps I should!

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/01/2017 21:27

Fish

You don't need to soak feet, it drys them out in the long run. Cream 2 X a day using superdrug body butter. You'll soon see an improvement.

I've managed more water & a whole week of dry Jan. Annoyingly I look much better for not having booze, & I've had a tin of Aldi sardines every day for breakfast over the weekend.

FishlessCake · 08/01/2017 21:31

I always soak my feet twice a day when using footner, and not experienced any problems. Once the process is done I use a foot cream twice a day and it keeps them soft Smile

LittleOyster · 09/01/2017 00:35

Checking in... Haven't done much today - washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, added a retinoid into my night time skincare and ironed some pretty dresses that had been stashed crumpled into my wardrobe for many many months.

I have been persisting with my resolution to exclude dairy and grains from my diet. Have now lost all of my Christmas weight, just one stone to go until I get to my target.

Fluffycloudland, I like the sound of eating a tin of sardines everyday. Must do wonders for the skin...

8FencingWire · 09/01/2017 06:14

Had my eyebrows and 'moustache' done in saturday. I even managed to have a face mask!!!
Didn't get the chance to do my nails though, will do!
I have got back into running. I discovered the most delightful park near me, one full circle is 1km. It's great! I'm really slow, takes me 25 min to do 4km. But I feel really good when I'm done, so it's ok :)
I had hot water and lemon daily too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/01/2017 08:11

Morning all! Weighed in this morning and I've lost 3lb (slight gain since Friday but I had a few treats over the weekend!)
This week, I really am going to try and do my skincare everyday, and wear some makeup every day too. I'm also going to continue with the Blood Sugar Diet but instead of just cutting sugar, I'm going to do it properly and count calories as well (diet says 800, I'm going to aim for 1000)

Hair appointment on Saturday so I might consider the possibility Of being a bit braver than my normal trim....

littleoyster

It's too soon to tell. Hopefully I'll look 21 next week. Sardines were the cheapest source of high omega 3 levels I could find.

It keeps you full for ages as well.

LittleOyster · 09/01/2017 11:33

Definitely update Fluffy once your transformation is accomplished, so I can start shovelling down the sardines too.

Good to hear about your weightloss, OP - 3 lb is fantastic. I want to lose at least a pound this week - it'll take me down another stone boundary, which'll feel really motivating I think. Also need to get consistent about skincare. Have fallen asleep in my makeup a couple of times in the last week.

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 09/01/2017 11:37

Checking in too.

I've been doing dry January and slimming world since new year - lost 5lbs in my first week.

Had a wardrobe and makeup cull at weekend and making an effort to look more put together at work.

Been drinking my two liters of water a day.

Not had nails done yet but have been using CND Rescue Rxx on them daily to nourish them after numerous shellacs.

Been moisturizing face every night before bed. So far - so good!

LittleOyster · 09/01/2017 12:32

Wow - 5lbs. Fantastic weightloss.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/01/2017 12:38

Have you got solar oil & cuticle eraser too tea? They make a massive difference to nails.

The first photo is my nails after working with alcohol gel & then the next day after using cuticle eraser.

Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?
Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?
Broccolirevolution · 09/01/2017 13:22

I love this thread - so much inspiration. I've been good at keeping on top of hair and make up for since thread started. I didn't have anything to drink at the weekend so I am succeeding in dry January. I've noticed my belly is a bit less bloated - still not great but certainly better.

Today I ate 50g cashew nuts as I heard it has the same effect as Prozac!

It's my 9th day of healthy eating and to be honest I feel a bit restless. I'm a bit worried I'm going to drink my body weight in wine and stuff my face with junk food. Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could do to keep me on the straight and narrow?

StorminaBcup · 09/01/2017 18:14

I'm not feeling very princessey today; I got measured for a doctors checkup and I've shrunk an inch and have a stone of baby weight to shift. Perhaps the footner will help if I slather it all over Grin

DancingHouse · 09/01/2017 18:22

I've done quite well today. I've drank loads of water and peed lots of water I walked to and from work instead of the bike. Came home and took my makeup off straight away which I always forget to do. I've picked out tomorrows outfit and packed a lunch in the fridge.

Not been so great at the healthy eating with the leftover celebrations Chicago at work still hanging around. But hey, just changing a few habits at a time.

DancingHouse · 09/01/2017 18:23
  • chocs not Chicago
LittleOyster · 09/01/2017 21:41

Yes, changing just a few habits at a time is definitely the way forward, I think.

Had quite a good conclusion to the day: went back to my running club for the first time in many, many months. Started their 0-5k programme and feeling really quite good about it.

I'm finding that my skin is getting slightly dry and blotchy after adding the retinol into my routine. I have heard that it can often look worse before it gets better, so hopefully it will settle down.
