Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

Still on that milk diet and feel fine. More importantly have got into my previously bit too small jeans. So inches are coming off Grin Am keeping going.

Some things have gone better than others so far.

Things that have gone well:
Eating healthily (albeit portion control needs work)
Exercise
Regular haircuts and eyebrow wax
Skincare routine (mostly - see below)
Moisturising daily after shower
Drinking water
Have started wearing eyeliner again (after probably 15 years) and it looks good.

Not so good:
Caffeine intake has risen, probably due to work stresses
Ditto wine
Swimming several times a week has ruined my nails
I used an acid peel last week and it has caused my skin to breakout.
Portion control

Things I want to work on in February:
Not wearing jeans to work. I work in a really casual office but have just had a significant promotion and feel I should dress a little more smartly.
Portion contol.
Limiting coffee and wine - one cup of coffee a day (I like my coffee strong and black so one really is enough) and only drink wine at weekends.
Sort out my acid peel induced breakout and crumbling nails!

I've been trying to keep up with my skincare routine and not missing too much. I have treated myself to 8 new lindy bop dresses in the sale! I find them comfortable to wear and feel good wearing them Smile

JemimaMuddledUp · 05/02/2017 20:44

I treated myself today too, to a dark grey shirt dress in Next. Going to wear it to work tomorrow layered over a grey striped Breton (Boden), grey opaque tights and black ankle boots (Oasis). Not jeans, but not OTT smart so my colleagues faint from shock Grin

Have filed my nails with the crystal nail file that came in my M&S advent calendar in the hope that it is kinder to them.and they stop splitting. Have painted them with strengthening base coat and then No7 Gel Look polish in Neptune, which is a dark grey. Just hope they don't start to chip at the ends.

Going to try using primer tomorrow to see if that evens out my dodgy skin. I usually just wear foundation.

Ordered a dress and cardigan online in the White Stuff sale, am hoping that they'll come tomorrow. More non-jeans choices!

JemimaMuddledUp the only thing that makes my skin look good atm is a primer also stops me rubbing my make up off throughout the day

Not a brilliantly princessy day - overly tired and children at work driving me mad. End of term syndrome for them and me I think. Debating a massage in half term though.

Jemima, I am finding this, too.
I have started keeping a tin of Vaseline in my gym bag, and I rub it into my nails before getting into the pool: not sure if it's helping yet, as I've only tried it a couple of times so far.

StorminaBcup · 08/02/2017 00:53

That's a great idea. Mine have gone really brittle since I started swimming too.

Hello fellow princesses! I've fallen off the wagon not helped by half term so planning to get back on it. Am off to update my makeup as I'm worried it's a bit flat. I'd like to look dewy and young again and glowy so fingers crossed. I'm still struggling with spots at the moment - i swear i have more spots now then when I was a teenager Sad

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/02/2017 21:20

Helloo Fellow Princessers Grin

Had a week off for good behaviour - well okay, a week away at DParents, so relaxed a bit, ate some things that my insides didn't take kindly too (Linda Mc Pies) so had a day of really crampy guts Sad

Pack to reality now , back to work tomorrow.
I bought some of the new BodyShop Honey&Almond Soap to try out .

ilovetocook · 28/02/2017 12:46

I'm working hard on keeping up with my skincare and enjoying wearing my dresses most days. Need to lose weight though still but snacking as stressed which doesn't help.

Rockaby · 02/03/2017 09:37

Am I too late to join please?

I am in need of some princessing!

I am planning the following:

  1. No wine at home - only have a glass when socialising or eating out (this happens so rarely I will be practically teetotal)!

  2. more water, fruit and veg.

  3. no sweet treats.

  4. I've started 5:2 lately, so will see how that goes. I tend to not do well with diets and usually end up even fatter than I started! Am giving this a go though.

  5. go to gym / class at least three times a week.

  6. have a pamper night once a week where I do hair mask, nails, hair removal.

  7. not sure about this, but will possibly start using fake tan spray stuff every few days. I've done it before for events but never on a regular basis.

ilovetocook · 16/03/2017 12:29

I recently ordered some Paula's Choice samples to try. They arrived yesterday and last night I tried the BHA exfoliant. I wasn't sure which I needed most so have sample of the BHA and AHA. Any way I put it on and used my lavender Aldi night cream over it, wish I'd bought more of this as it's lovely, and this morning my skin felt lovely and smooth. I visually didn't notice a difference and don't have much of the BHA but will keep using the larger sample bottle of the AHA and hope to notice more improvement :) Now if I could only get my weight to drop I'd be happy but super stressful times have me searching for sugary things :(
