Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2017 14:26

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

Ooh no I don't fluffy - I'll check it out. I'm
Getting my gels done tomorrow. Love getting them properly shaped. Need to get brows threaded too. I might treat myself to some new bath products and have a lovely pamper night this week. Why not! Anyone recommend a good face pack that won't turn me into a pizza face afterwards (draws out impurities my ass! I'd rather keep them in thanks!!)

Checkedstripes · 10/01/2017 20:55

Checking in as well after a couple of days doing what I'm calling 'warrior queening' - we had Ofsted inspecting our school so there was the full face of make up, 'done' hair and higher heels and no bloody sleep because of incessant planning and the diet went to pot. Chocolate was needed, and had. Back on it tomorrow!

SleepingBooty · 10/01/2017 21:56

Can I join? I've increased my water intake and eaten much better since New Year. I'm cutting out the wine for a few months. Lost 3lbs and the bloat has gone. Been to the hairdressers today and the roots are fixed for another month. I'm taking advantage of the health cash plan from work and booked appts with a Chiropodist to see if they can do anything to improve my feet (they are pretty soft after daily moisturising, footner looks too scary) and a Chiropractor for an adjustment as my posture is shocking. I've been birthday shopping and bought myself some new jewellery, a watch, a curling wand, perfume and a new handbag so I'm feeling pretty princessy at the moment. Oh and a new foundation which is doing wonders, I just have to remember to cleanse properly.

LittleOyster · 10/01/2017 22:34

Right, I don't want to be a princess any more, want to be a warrior queen - a la Checkedstripes post.

Haven't done any Princessing today as I have been ill, but have been keeping up with my skincare and will be washing my hair tomorrow (this is a but of an event for me right now, as I am trialling various techniques to improve the condition).

Had a little bit of gluten today, in a sausage, but am still managing to avoid dairy, sugar and alcohol.

Welcome, SleepingBooty Sounds as though you have been doing loads!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/01/2017 09:57

Having a good week so far, I've mow lost 5.5lbs and seemed to have settled into this sugar free way of eating so I'm not craving any more.
Been wearing makeup and perfume every day, even if I'm just spinning around.
Doing my cupboards today, shifting some old stuff into the charity shop and loft, plus I'm going to go through my underwear and chick out all the saggy grey comfortable bits and any bra that doesn't fit me. Will probably need to go underwear shopping after that!

I'm finding I'm just being more active as well, probably because I'm not so carb overloaded, and that's probably helping to shift a few pounds too.

Hope everyone's having a positive day

Really good news, OP. I want to look into this blood sugar diet - sounds blimmin' fantastic!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/01/2017 11:03

Oysters it's the only diet I have ever really had any noticeable weight loss with. I did slimming world for years but only ever lost a pound a week and then would put 4 back on after a heavy weekend! Soul destroying!
The books are available online/kindle and there's a recipe book now as well. Come and join us on our thread in 5:2 section.
The best thing about it is you can do a really nice, decadent meal- steak, cream, olive oil, cheese, full fat yoghurt etc. And it still works (just depends if you can go without the carbs!) although some still have some carbs every day, or have 'days off' and still lose.

Just had gel mani pedi and my nails are a beautiful merlot colour. Also had brows threaded. Therapist asked if I wanted my lip doing also but I declined Blush

Feel very princessey now!

Hepzibar · 11/01/2017 20:46

De-lurking to join.
Made some small changes since new year (illness kick started this long awaited effort).
Increased water intake - almost 2 litres. Bottle in car and on my desk.
Biggest change - no wine! This is a super effort. Plan is no drinking at home, only when we go out for dinner. DH doesn't drink so no temptation.

I have booked a colour analysis at House of Colour for next Saturday. I have been saying I will do this for past 2 years, this thread has spurred me on.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/01/2017 21:32

My fake footners have arrived so I will be doing them this weekend. My step counter/Fitbit style watch has also arrived so I'm going to see how many steps I average over a few days then try to increase each week.

OP posts:
StorminaBcup · 11/01/2017 21:47

I'd love to get my colours done. Will you report back please Hepzibar?

Footners have arrived and I haven't used the car for 3 days. I've also been very good at remembering my multivitamin and I'm actually feeling a little less sluggish already.

Is the threading sore compared to waxing?

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 12/01/2017 05:06

Hi storm the threading was actually much gentler than I expected. It takes a little longer than waxing but the results are great. And there's no horrible tweezing bit afterwards. Definitely give it a go! This was only my second threading but I think I'm a convert now!

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/01/2017 06:52

I'm interested in the colours too.

Hepzibar · 12/01/2017 07:14

Yes will give a full report. It's on 21st, not long to wait but giving me the incentive to carry on with dry Jan and increased water intake. The instructions say not to wear any make-up. Can't remember the last time I left the house without foundation !

Hoping my skin will have improved by then. Although I can see an improvement already, the red blotchiness has definately calmed down.

I have no idea what 'colour' I am, nothing seems to suit me TBH Sad

StorminaBcup · 12/01/2017 07:30

timefortea thanks, I'll give it a go! Have always been put off as people have always said it's really painful.

That's exactly how I feel Hepzibar, I have a wardrobe full of striped tops and I'm stuck in a rut because I don't know what suits me.

LittleOyster · 12/01/2017 08:59

Thanks, OP. I shall come over to 5:2 and have a look. It sounds great. Michael Mosley though... am never sure if I find him really annoying or really fanciable. Maybe both?

I did my barnet yesterday for the first time since the beginning of my new haircare regime. I think it looked marginally better: more sleek and less frizzy, but it's greasing up a bit around my fringe so I intend to look out for a silicone free dry shampoo.

YY to more info on colour analysis. I'd love to have this done...

I'm a bit late but in pure princess diaries fashion, "everyone else is simply early" Grin

My goals are;

  • Eat 3 regular and healthy ish meals a day, rather than toast for breakfast at 7am, then eating 6 slices of cheese until 5:30. It's awful but I have struggled with food for a v long time.

*Continue with my 2017 skincare regime. It seems to be helping with dry patches and spots - my skin is so soft!

*Stop smoking this year, and when I've quit for 3 months I'm going to get a cleanse and polish at the dentist and possibly teeth whitening done too, with the money I've saved.

*Save at least £2.5k from wages by June (at the latest - money will also be saved by quitting smoking)

*Actually use the products I've been saving 'for best' as by the time I get round to using them they'll be off and shit for purpose!

SleepingBooty · 12/01/2017 11:34

I had my colours done a few years back. It has totally transformed my wardrobe. I was wearing the completely wrong colours and jewellery. I was deflated at the time to be an Autumn as I hated wearing Mustard and brown but I love them now.

Oooh! I'd love love love to get my colours done.

Keeping up with low/no sugar, water, exercise - mood is brilliant but skin crap. I think it's probably hormones.

Got a pedicure booked in for 2 weeks and am getting a trim then, too (after payday). Might get a wax too then I'll be gorgeous top to toe.

Facemask tonight...Think I'll do a vitamin one from tk maxx. Has anyone been in recently? They have embraced the sheet mask trend in a really big way!

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/01/2017 13:32

scarf

Try a nail oil like Dadi or Solar, same inventor different formulations. Your nails won't break then.

I have to really, really whack mine to break them. The best bit is that you don't get hang nails either.

I've eaten fish for breakfast for 5 days and it's keeping me full until lunch, I have a coffee with oil in it too. I've been taking a Tesco hair, skin & nail tablet for nearly 6 months, I can't see a difference in skin but my hairdresser keeps asking me if I'm doing something different to my hair so it's doing something.

Still doing dry January. Tomorrows goal is 2 litres of water.

5000candlesinthewind · 12/01/2017 13:38

Is it too late for me to join?

My goals are:
Tone up and eat better, not necessarily lose weight.
Make more effort with my hair as I wear it up too much.
Drink more water.
Remove my makeup at night.
Stop dressing like a slob.
No drinking during the week.
Stop smoking. It's less than 5 a day but it's no good for me.

Looking forward to reading through everyone else's later

ilovetocook · 12/01/2017 13:54

I would like to join. I've been making an effort to look after my skin properly, twice a day. I want to continue to lose weight and just make more effort with myself overall. It's going to be a tough year I think though as my toddler and I are going through the process to diagnose autism on top of his allergies/ coeliacs. Im still on a restricted diet as breast feeding but that helped me lose 10kg last year.

DancingHouse · 12/01/2017 19:35

Went to boots after work to see how much I weigh at the moment because I don't have a set of scales at home. I've put on a stone in 6 months. Fuck. So then, really need to focus on cutting out the crap.

On a good note my skin is clearing up which I think is a combination of fresh air, water and remembering to take off make up at the end of the day.
