Do we have a 2017 'princessing' thread?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2017 14:26

Last year I joined a lovely long running thread which really motivated me to take a bit more care of myself and massively boosted my self esteem. I ended up quitting sugar and losing 2 stone.

Would anyone like a similar type thread, or is there currently one running?

My goals for January are:
No drinking in the week
8 glasses of water
Cut out the sugar and half the carbs (BSD)
Give my lumea one last chance before I give up on it and Ebay it
Get a skincare routine going (starting with removing makeup everyday!)
Get myself a footner online and do my trotters
Sort out my eyebrows (currently look like two sleeping cocker spaniels on my face)

Anyone with me?

I've eaten well today, followed the blood sugar diet premise, but didn't count calories. I will fill in my tracker on mfp now though, and at least get an idea of what I've had- but I've had nothing sugary, very few carbs, and no rubbish snacks so feel like I've had a good day. I've had a few pints of water too. No actual exercise but I have done some major housework so that counts for now. All I haven't managed is my pampering routine, and I forgot to switch the water on so there's not enough hit for a bath and I don't want to wait!

Here's mine:

No drinking in the week
Stop buying clothes
Lose 15lb by my birthday in March
Walk at least 10,000 steps per day
Take better care of my teeth

Moaningmyrtille · 02/01/2017 19:37

I'm in too. I'm the fattest I've ever been and I feel wobbly! I'd like to drop 2 dress sizes by July.

This week I will eat no bread and nothing at all after dinner.
Cakes sweets and crisps out.
Hair treatment and face mask once a week.
DH and I doing dry January.

I will finally buy some scales for the house Blush

DH and I talking about doing insanity workout... I think it might kill me. Anyone got any experience of this?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/01/2017 19:52

No experience of insanity but I did the 30 day shred for about a week this time last year and although I was a total novice/ non exerciser I found it ok. Suitably strenuous so I felt like I'd worked out, but not so ridiculous that I collapsed afterwards IYSWIM?

I'm in!
I'm trying to stop biting my nails, yuk I know, and be able to paint them properly, if I keep it up I'll treat myself to a proper manicure. I'm on to day two which is pretty good going for me!

I'm starting a skincare routine for the first time ever.

I need to drink more water and eat better. I also need to tone up.

Mistykit · 02/01/2017 20:19

-Lose 7 lbs by the end of March
-no buying clothes until at least June
-no sweets, chocolate, cakes for Jan
-walk for at least half an hour everyday
-cook at least one meal per week (I usually live off microwave/eating out)

CateGory8 · 02/01/2017 21:48

I've managed my 5k daily walks both yesterday and today. I also exceeded my goal water intake. Yesterday I dyed my eyelashes and eyebrows, did a face mask and applied serum before bed.

I also braved a weigh in this morning and discovered that I've actually lost 1lb over Christmas. So very surprised and it's really given me another boost.

stumblymonkey · 02/01/2017 21:55

Well I've started off well on my plan to take more care of myself....today included:

  • Lovely bath with rose oil
  • Hair mask
  • Mud face mask
  • Painted nails
  • Used moisturiser (usually forget)
  • Used body lotion (never do this!)
  • Looked up beauty buys to update my make up when I next get paid

Going to get Benefit Roller Lashes, Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner, Stila Kitten eyeshadow, Urban Decay Naked palette (must be the only person not to own one!) and Yves Saint Laurent Volupte tint and oil.

Starting increased water intake and diet tomorrow!

notagiraffe · 02/01/2017 22:44

I deep-cleaned the bathroom today - scrubbed every inch of it - took 4 hours! Then had a candlelit bath. Bliss.
Hot-cloth face wash (Superdrug not Liz Earle but still lovely)
Took all vitamin supplements
Did day 2 of Yoga with Adriene
Day 1 of Dry January
And logged all food on MFP.

Just need two more glasses of water before bed. Hmm

Hi, I'm in too.
Jan goals: drink more water, earlier to bed, sort out nails.
Thx for the thread!

ClarissaDarling · 02/01/2017 23:10

Have been so healthy today, then had1/2 bottle of red and 1/2 choc Orange- choc Orange was vile but kept eating to see if it got any better! (It didn't)

FishlessCake · 03/01/2017 07:07

Ooh I'm in
Ordered a footner
Apply hand moisturiser throughout the day
Keep nails painted
Need to book a hair cut (hate going to the hairdressers)
Wear makeup and nice clothes every day
Already drink 5 litres of water a day
Loose 7lbs by my birthday at the end of the month Smile

scoobdoob · 03/01/2017 07:27

I am going to do 2 things each week. To make it more manageable for me.

  1. Cut out high fat dairy
  2. Drink more water.

Will add the next 2 next week.
Hope this is ok!

Clara101 · 03/01/2017 12:07

That's a good idea scoob. This week I'll just do water then add in other stuff. Has anyone tried the various apps to help you keep track of water intake and what do you recommend?

Also how to know what to aim for? Lots if people say 2l. One app I tried said 1.3l when I put in weight, gender and activity (not training).. Lower target than I was expecting?

Moaningmyrtille · 03/01/2017 13:30

Thanks thenewaverage for your info on 30 days shred. I did try that once but only did a day or 2. I talk a good game Wink this year is going to be different.

Today I'm on my first healthy eating bread free day and it's bloody hard. I've only done 2 meals!

I did style my hair and put on some make up so at least I'm a bit princessy.

I need to do something about my hands. They are quite rough. Any advice? I like 8 hour cream but I'd be up for trying something different.

I'm in!

My goals are:
To stop stressing over little things.
Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
To sort my very beige flat hair out(anyone have any tips for this?!)
To try and eat more daily.

lisam78 · 03/01/2017 17:30

I'm going to try the following:

Cook more from scratch - I do enjoy cooking for guests etc, but day to day gets boring and I start relying on processed junk. This needs to change.
Sunday night bath, manicure/pedicure/face mask
Try to find time in week to do 3rd workout -manage 2 at the mo but really need to be doing 3 to see a difference

SingaSong12 · 03/01/2017 18:18

Got myself to the gym yesterday and also had waxing done (after the gym). No crisps or chocolate for two days. I'm missing chocolate which shows how much I was relying on it to boost my mood.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 03/01/2017 18:54

I feel better if I keep on top of my hair removal! Makes me feel lighter!

I've done a mani-pedi and put body oil on.

scoobdoob · 03/01/2017 19:09

Like reading these for tips and inspiration. I am definitely going to add stop stressing in a some point and the weekly bath/pamper.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/01/2017 19:10

I have had a semi reasonable day- food good most of the day, walk with the kids after lunch, lots of water. I still haven't had time for my long pampering bath and have zero energy tonight so it will have to wait. The exhaustion of the last few disturbed nights wth the baby hit me at around 5.30 and I binge ate a load of chocolate left over from Christmas and also managed to break my longest nail!
Will try again tomorrow!

I'm in!

Walk for 30 mins every day
Swim twice a week
Eat 7 portions of fruit and veg each day
Drink 2 litres of water every day
Track calories on MFP, aim to lose a stone by Christmas 2017
Cleanse and moisturise every day. Use the contents of my M&S beauty advent calendar
Hair cut and eyebrow shape every 6 weeks
File and paint nails weekly
Moisturise body every day after shower

BlackSwan · 03/01/2017 19:20

Hi ragebear - I had a lumea once too - found it uncomfortable... ended up on eBay! For my part:

  • I'm slender toning my backside (using the bottom pants). Been using it for about 2 weeks. I'm seeing some results I think. Also doing squats. DH is fairly disparaging about it...calls it the 'ass-blaster'. Married a real prince...
  • keeping nails manicured (DIY)
  • hard core anti ageing face cream (retinol)
  • sneak less chocolate
