Been away overnight so used up a sachet of L'occitaine conditioner, a vitamin c serum sample. I had all my small sizes in a wash bag. Made a small dent.

does anyone else get inundated with free make up bags etc that are superfluous.

FrustratedFrugal · 18/02/2017 19:40

MrsD Brew

Busy week, half day of work today.

Working on lots of products, no visible progress - except the Facefinity compact that looks like this:

Hope you're feeling better today mrsD and I can't wait to see the hair frugal, sounds amazing!
Ive finished an elemis hand and nail cream but it was a minuscule one from a plane. Every little helps I suppose!

kwick · 19/02/2017 10:29

wood I either use them to store stuff (like nail polishes) or give them to charity.

Have put on makeup for first time since MC.

Keep going! We will have empties!

Kwick I will take advice and be more focused on some items.

Been playing with Green and Gold eyes this morning - probably a bit full on for church Grin so will leave glasses on today.

Yay Kwick 💪🏻💄
Dragon your hair and eyes look really good, and you can easily skip glasses!

DH and DC are going to stay at MIL's over the midterm, so I have some time for myself. But the weather is not cooperating, it's grey and drizzly Sad

ememem84 · 19/02/2017 11:41

wood omg yes. I gift them away or use them for storage. I have one at work (the "emergency kit") two in my drawer for make up etc. One in the bathroom for tanpons towels etc.

Almost finished a clarins eye make up remover.

Finished a toothpaste. But more in the stash

CantChoose · 19/02/2017 11:51

Oooo I never count toothpaste. I finish those all the time as my dentist parents give me boxes full of mini ones. I will start counting those as victories too :D
Well done kwick. It must be so hard.
I love your upper lid liner dragon mine always looks thick and awful, I've stopped bothering...

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 19/02/2017 13:01

Good for you kwick. Hope things getting better.

Perfume parlour dupe for jo Malone cardomen (quite rank! Went in children's potions)
Korean toner samples x5
2 sheet masks
Liz Earle tonic spritzer (not sure if this did anything!)
Results shine glossing spray (3 house moves: wow to gloss appearance but feels weird)
Emma hardie day cream sample tube (lovely)
M&s night cream from advent (lovely)
8 hour cream will be done tonight too.

Phew. Thanks for letting me share.

DragonNoodleCake · 19/02/2017 15:37

Thanks guys! It's my new Kiko eyeliner- loving it! Must not go online, must not go online, must not go online
I'm loving the stray from black, doing way more, green, teal and plum these days.

Can't I've been an eyeliner fan for about 24 years, it's all in the practice! I would say tho,the better the product the easier it is. This new kiko intense pencil is fab Grin

Wood yes inundated with bloody bags, I use them for everything I can think of, give them to DD2 and at the slightest mankyness just throw them out. Confused

Frugal can't go without the glasses as I'm blind - if I contact lens I generally do it pre-make-up. I do love my glasses tho, they do make life simpler. Wink

Pinkie good to hear you have parcel. Hope you like the hypnose as much as I do. Oh forgot to say - when it's new - the first dozen times or so when I use a new mascara I wipe excess on a tissue. (Wonder if I'm the only one that does this) Hmm

Kwick as you suggested I will be more focused. I have made a list Grin

My list of 12 is stuff that is all 'open' full size all between 1/3 and 2/3 full. Lent is 01 March to 13 April. I can do this!!! I've even put list on phone so I can picture Halo

I used up a tube of L'Oréal conditioner from a colour box this morning Smile

Currently having a chill out on the bed with my huge big fat cat and a cuppa! Brew

And frugal good in you getting time on your own.

Mrs how you feeling now?

DragonNoodleCake · 19/02/2017 15:41

Pinkie - when you say children's potions - do you literally mean your DC make 'potions'? I used to do this, loved it!!! Grin

That is an impressive empty list btw

AlfaMummy · 19/02/2017 19:29

After a few days away with DH and DD, I've used up two L'Occitane shampoo and conditioner sachets, along with an Elemis sweet orchid shower cream sachet. Nothing wrong with shampoo and conditioner but not amazing so will not purchase. Loved the shower cream - I've got a full size in the stash so can't wait to make a start on it... one day!!

I've used my Hourgalss Radient Lighting palette a few times and I'm impressed. The powders are very fine and feel very soft on my skin. I really like how they are not too obvious and sparkly - I've got a couple of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks which I now think have a bit too much sparkle. The Hourglass powders really do make a difference but I don't look like a teenager going to a school disco!! It's my birthday next week (puke) and I know my DH has bought me another Hourglass palette from my DD... I will report back once again.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Dragon, I'm going to have a look at the hair toners you mention as I might fancy a change. I've got blonde highlights in my dark blond hair. I'm currently sporting some awful roots as I've just not been able to get to the hairdresser due to feeding DD who simply refuses a bottle. I'm thinking I might give a home kit a try - can anyone recommend one?

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 19/02/2017 19:56

Yes dragon my DC like to mix up lots of stuff from kitchen and I sometimes help make it smell a bit better with old essential oils or perfumes! Bit random but they seem to like it.

I'm on fire tonight, went swimming and used up spray conditioner (another in cupboard) and another moisturiser. No stopping me now (except my ability to buy quicker than use!)
alfa the hourglass palette is going on my birthday list. I had a bottle refusenik too. Good luck! I've never tried home dying as scared but new kits look easy on adverts.

kwick · 19/02/2017 20:09

Wow!! Well done Another!!!

Great start Dragon!!!

OP posts:
DragonNoodleCake · 19/02/2017 20:20

Alfa - I've got medium blonde hair and I lighten with L'Oréal preference lightest shade, (only because I'm getting natural pure white highlights these days) then I tone with the Jerome Russell bblonde toners - which work well when your hair is lighter.
I bought another one in silver yesterday and also one in 'steel' a bluey grey. I'm planning to do top half silver and underneath steel this weekend!
It's temp - wash out in 8 washes so sod it I'm giving it a go!
They do a lilac one too.....

DragonNoodleCake · 19/02/2017 20:22

Pinkie I used to make perfume from hedgerow flower petals Grin

plum1304 · 19/02/2017 21:22

I have been a long time lurker on this thread and have enjoyed reading through... I've got through lots of my products but it's make up I struggle with.

As It's felt almost springlike here today, I've been clearing out my make up stash. How many foundations does everyone have? I've got at least 7 which seems ridiculous, but they are all in decent condition so it seems incredibly wasteful to through them away.

Any top tips?

AlfaMummy · 19/02/2017 21:59

Dragon, many thanks for the info and will look into what you recommend. I agree with the 'sod it' thinking, do let us know how the two colours work together. I'm very tempted with the lilac. For years I worked in an ultra smart / conservative environment - I'm now able to experiment a bit more with my hair and make up thanks to my SAHM status!!

AlfaMummy · 19/02/2017 22:05

Hi Plum, I've got three on the go at the moment; two Chanels and an awful Tarte one from QVC. I am trying to use the Tarte for 'house days' but to be honest I hate it so much I think it needs to be binned. Once I've used the Chanel I would like to try the Armani Luminous Silk... I've heard v good reviews about it.

FrustratedFrugal · 20/02/2017 08:05

I'm testing my scariest lipstick: a dark, dark morello cherry, something that brings back teenage witches and 1990s gothic revivals. And it is scary for me because I am very pale - pinks and pale mauves are my comfort zone.

So this one has been relegated to Halloween use. But similar shades on Dragon look great! And I have two wine colored winter coats, and am currently flirting with the 1990s wearing a pinstripe jacket and vintage 501 lookalikes, so decided to give dark lipstick another chance. What do you think - keep or bin?

Ashamed of my beauty product hoard - part 4
FrustratedFrugal · 20/02/2017 08:08

Plum I have 10+ foundations BlushActively using 3 or 4 of them, should get rid of the rest.

And PinkiePie, wow, your list is epic! Hats off, you inspire us all! 🙇🏼‍♀️

kwick · 20/02/2017 08:12

Welcome plum!!!
I used to be very close contained with my foundations but then I had a splurge in Kiko so my current stash is:
-4 Kiko foundations - all different

  • 1 Body Shop tube thing
  • 1 Primark loose powder
Then in use:
  • 1 Kiko foundation (which sadly oxidises)
  • 1 Bioaqua cushion foundation
  • 1 Body Shop tube thing

If all yours are still working fine and do not smell then I would suggest you just work your way through them systematically.

frustrated I think it looks fine!
