What are people's thoughts about soap vs shower gel for bathing/showering? I love bars of soap and have many in my hoard. Any favourites to recommend? Not that I should be adding to my ample supplies, of course...

kwick · 16/02/2017 07:41

Mother I often find soap to drying. I do use Cidal on my feet though to keep athletes foot away.
Back at my mum's with nephew - we are going to play Risk this morning then go out shopping for the allotment and to view a garden.
Got signed off until 1 March.
Still bleeding and cramping Sad
I bought a Redken scalf relief shampoo for oily hair yesterday. They have whole range near me but not as cheap Dragon as you can get yours.

Morning Ladies,

The the subject of Redken, I believe Feel Unique has 25% off today; not that we should be buying any products...

I've finished an Elemis Rose and Jasmine hand cream. Lovely fragrance but not as moisturising as L'Occitane or Balance Me.

Yesterday I received an Hourglass Radient Light palette from Space NK, so I'm going to enjoy playing about with it. I'm off to Bath today for a few nights with DH and DD - I'm sure I will pick up a treat or two!!

MotherofPearl · 16/02/2017 10:42

Ooooh, Alfa, that Redken offer is pretty tempting!
Kwick, sorry to hear you're still bleeding and cramping. Flowers Sounds like you're getting some great support from your mum though, which is good.

FiveShelties · 16/02/2017 11:14

kwick enjoy your time with your Mum and nephew. Have not played Risk for years, we used to play a lot during winter, passes on the long nights.

Still no empties to report but have opened the Soap & Glory box which has some lovely things in.

DragonNoodleCake · 16/02/2017 11:44

Redken offer you say....I'm resisting - maybe 😝

Glad you have time off Kwick

I've gone silver - used Jerome Russell bblonde toner....I love it.

I used the elasticiser today and my hair seems to have more body.

I may go to a shopping centre and will try not to buy stuff. I do need a new toner either Clinique or pixi.

Needastrongone · 16/02/2017 15:31

Oh Kwick Flowers Brew, although I would go for Wine..

Sorry I have been Awol.

CantChoose Funny about the M&S sleeping balm isn't it? Just shows you what works for one, doesn't for another eh? Smile

Only one empty to report, an absolutely dire Sanctuary shower gel. Far too thick, smelt synthetic and I was glad to finish.

Pleasantly surprised with a Ted Baker shower gel that I was given for Christmas randomly. Feels lovely and the smell is gentle but not intrusive at all.

I keep thinking about using the Elasticiser, but don't..seems too much effort but I'm thinking I am wrong.

I'm getting so many brilliant ideas with your lists. I'm relatively new to all this, so I will steal....

pepperrabbit · 16/02/2017 21:30

I did the elasticizer thing last night. Literally ran wet hands through my hair then rubbed in a generous dollop, no more than a minute from start to finish. DH looked a bit puzzled my hair seemed to absorb most of it (and no smell to speak of) so I slept as normal.
I have to say I am really pleased! I gave it a good rinse before using shampoo. My hair is very soft, I didn't really need the argan oil I habitually use so I will def do that again.

Needastrongone · 16/02/2017 21:36

That's good to know pepper. I've grown my hair quite a lot this last year and it's in good condition at present, but being coloured and I straighten it twice a week (leave it to dry naturally) extra help is appreciated.

woodhill · 16/02/2017 21:55

Didn't buy toner. Do any of you use exfoliating toners?

I am late 40s so do I need something more gentle?

Needastrongone · 16/02/2017 22:06

Woodhill I got Liquid Gold in the M&S advent calendar. I love it, use it twice a week. Makes my skin tingle and I do need to moisturise afterwards (don't moisturise if you want a more intensive treatment), I'm mid 40's and outside a lot. I quite fancy trying the Pixie Glow tonic though.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 16/02/2017 22:14

Thanks dragon. I shall wave to you in Livi as I pass! My car looks like a mobile Boots with all products for make up once I arrive or get stuck in traffic jam!
I'm very jealous about hourglass palette alfa. Do report back.

I rate Pixi glow needs although can only use every fortnight as sensitive skin. The difference is really impressive for me.

Managed to finish rituals shower oil and a few sachets that have been round a while but a dull Soap & Glory lipstick is not giving up without a fight.

woodhill · 16/02/2017 22:17

Thanks, do you use a gentle toner as well?

I have the liquid gold.

CantChoose · 16/02/2017 23:01

I'm using the pixi glow toner at the moment but haven't really noticed a difference.
I love trying new products and finding ones which feel nice to use but I never seem to notice much of a difference in my skin.

I put the elastaicizer on before I use the cross trainer under a shower cap (at home, not gym!) and that seems to work quite well. I've got a couple of beauty box ones, I'm not sure I like it enough to buy it and it's a bit of a faff...

kwick · 17/02/2017 09:43

dragon wow! Photo, photo, photo!!!!

I have never had much joy with the Elasticizer... but I do agree we are all different so products will work differently too!

wood I was using exfoliating pads until I found out that Salcyclic acid can be harmful in pregnancy. So far my favourite has been Clearsil Grin but I think the Pixi Glow Tonic would be worth looking into as the sample I used seemed quite gentle. I did not use the pads every day.

I am not sure if I am just getting old and senile or what but it seems to me that creams and lotions I used when I was younger worked so much better... and I cannot remember what they were!!! Angry

I have an empty:
Liz Earle cleanse & polish rose & lavender - nice, much nicer, than original one but I think the Superdrug ones are just as good - and loads cheaper.

I am currently giving myself a mega home facial - did a double cleanse with Liz Earle, now have nose strips in 3 strategic places on my face, next a peeling mask... and so it goes on...

Trying hard not to go to Superdrugs on a mega blow out.... TALK ME DOWN!!!

Needastrongone · 17/02/2017 09:56

Woodhill, no I don't I'm sorry. All this is pretty new to me, having surfaced finally from years of small children and working longer hours.

I've dropped a lot of weight recently (I can now run again after years of not doing so, and I run competitively, so mileage is high) and I'm a really skinny minnie. God, it has aged me round the eyes!

And other places....

However my butt is awesome Grin

Don't do it Kwick!!! Probably fruitless....

Whattodowithaminute · 18/02/2017 08:09

Couple of empties from week away

kiehls amino acid shampoo trial size-my hair has really flyaway all week but not sure whether it's a change in products or water... inconclusive regarding repurchase!

Elemis overnight cream dine not amazing

Nuxe daycream (forget which one) nice and have felt well moisturised but do seem to have had a bit of a skin breakout

DragonNoodleCake · 18/02/2017 08:43

What is this elacistizer?? You have me puzzled.
Currently catching up lying in bed whilst DH snores away
Its an 8 wash toner kwick I'll photo when it fresh n silver 😜
Why do I never empty anything, I think my problem is I have too many products on the go at once.

ememem84 · 18/02/2017 09:07

I've fallen off a bit. Haven't been taking care of myself really as have been feeling too sicky. "Morning" sickness my arse.

Anyhoo. Today is a rest day. During which I am going to make a conscious effort to sort myself out.

My skins gone rubbishy my hair is a mess I look gross.

Will enjoy a nice long hot shower scrubs home facial and moisturise everywhere. May not use anything up but will hopefully feel more like myself again.

kwick · 18/02/2017 10:14

eme take care of you Flowers

Dragon I do find targetted approach helps to get empties. I love variety so I have to be really focused.

I have a few small empties:

  • Molton Brown Pink Pepperpod bidy wash, travel size - love, love, love the scent!
  • Caudalie premier cru The Elixir - sample - feels nourishing
  • Redken cleansing cream Dragon kindly sent me Grin

Ugh. Popping in to say hi. Not feeling too grand and I just want to curl up under the duvet with a bottomless, perpetually hot cup of tea and a big bar of Dairy Milk.

Just got over a Tummy Bug, have got crappy horrible period pains and I've got 30 people coming over for DD's birthday tea party.

I know I'm being a grumpy whinge bag. But I feel bleurgh.

ememem84 · 18/02/2017 10:44

Shower done. And am now lying on bed letting the moisturiser sink in. Aaaaaahhh

moogletea · 18/02/2017 10:47

Hope everyone feels better soon

I have two empties

Clinique dark spot corrector and optimiser - essentially just a serum though it is cleverly packaged and there are two tubes of stuff Inside - i didn't see it make any difference. Plus the pump was terrible. Sometimes delivering masses and product, sometimes only one side and most of the time offering a small dollop

Also finished Liz Earle superskin eye cream. Perfectly nice. I have a stash of eye creams though so will start moving through these - the skyn from the m and s advent calendar is lined up for tonight
