Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

And kittens. I can get on board with accessorising with a kitten. Perhaps it could perch on the shoulder the coat isn't draping off. Like a fashionable pirate's parrot.

(I've read the article on full now btw. It is mainly bollocks but victoriana, velvet, military and oversized coats seem to be the themes.)

and speaking of pirates, my sister and I were doing fantasy autumn wardrobe building last night (we're Irish too, it's Autumn now). I have frittered precious salary on knee high lace up boots and some victorian blouses, was tempted by velvet waistcoat til DSis pointed out I would be cosplaying to work as a lady pirate....

The boots sound great though!

lol yes, I like Joe Brown's boots and shoes (though not so much their clothes).

Oooh I love Autumn! I have a few things on my wish list, but this does remind me that I need to start clearing out my wardrobe and donating/ebaying things as I have way too much c̶r̶a̶p̶ stuff.

I have my eye on

A cashmere shawl from Love Molly
This PU dress but I'm not sure if I have the confidence to carry it off www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Linea+Flora+PU+full+skirted+dress/235541855,default,pd.html

I really want some ankle boots with a cone heel, but I do have 2 pairs of wedge boots from White Stuff last year which I still love. Has anyone seen any nice ones?

And I want a Lady Di Blouse - you known the ruffle around the neck thing? I love and suit polo necks so I'm guessing I'll love a high necked blouse but I have a generous chest so open mind I must have!

I love Autumn clothes! Especially cashmere jumpers and a good pair of Chelsea boots. I've also bought a tartan scarf. A big blanket one in deep red.

Finding it a bit of a nightmare to find a decent coat though. Any recommendations for pear shapes?

Oh yes, I'll be able to dig out my lovely tartan scarf again. I'd forgotten about it. Smile

I did a big Konmari clear out in the spring so I don't really have any autumn / winter clothes other than jeans so I'm looking forward to starting to find some nice clothes. I must remember not to be tempted to buy lots of coats - I got rid of lots that were hardly worn. I did manage most of last winter with a mac so might try the same this year!

I couldn't get on with Konmari - I liked the organising of the socks and underwear but folding other things just made them more creased. I love having lots of different coats and jackets....I get to indulge in good quality, distinctive tailoring without feeling over-dressed.

I've just bought this dress as a relatively simple dress for work - glad to hear that burgundy (although is that different to maroon?) is back in, as that's a colour that's always worked for me quite well! Got a new job recently, and am trying not to spend ALL of my salary on new clothes - tempting, as it's been a couple of years since I've been able to afford much!

Double-post - I'd echo the nice coat requests please, if anyone's seen anything good out there. I'm looking to replace my tired mac/trench coat - ideally with one in black/navy.

I just ordered these www.brandalley.co.uk/15178360.html

Only had size 7 left (I'm between 7 and 8 and small 7s are torture), fingers crossed. They are a bit flash-in-the-pan fashion, but they're not breaking the bank so if I get lots of wear out of them this winter all will be good.

I really like tartan scarves but I don't want to wear one if everybody and his dog will be. I might go bright orange or something instead! I've got a Parka London parka (what else?!) and am v tempted by this to accessorise it hood

Remus love the fur thing. But £35!

Report
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2016 12:29

My reckoning is that I got the coat for around a third of its original price, and a nice scarf would cost at least £35, so it doesn't work out at 'that' much!

I want to wear

-Tan ankle boots (saw nice ones in Anthropologie) (this will be a big departure from my usual black)
-Heavy Mustard cable knit
-Leather mini A-line skirt
-Some kind of cropped/rolled/cuffed chino trousers (again a big departure from usual jeans)

Sun I'd love a mustard cable knit, let me know if you find one! Seasalt had a mustardy loose knit earlier in the year but every one I looked at had lots of clicks in it.

I've already bought two loose jumpers from Boden, a black and dark grey. Would like another one ideally, I have no nice jumpers and looked round loads last autumn for the sort of thing I was after.

I am also planning to buy these boots - I had the brown ones last year and wore them loads.

With wide legged trousers, I quite like a chunky heeled ankle boot. This sort of shape People will probably say it's a 'mum boot' but I can live with that. Grin

Wide legged trousers I'd go for a white tennis shoe or black trainers with a white sole - I love the slouchy look.

Remus- Strangely enough, I haven't really seen anyone walking around in tartan scarfs. Maybe it's not quite 'Autumny' yet? I don't know. I have a few. Like I said a big blanket one, a smaller version I got from house of Fraser originally £30 reduced to £7.50! And I have a dark green one.

Report
EnidButton · 11/08/2016 15:42

Remus Nah. I think the criss crossy sides make it a none mum boot. Grin
