Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

CaitAgusMadra · 01/08/2016 22:20

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

I'm going to buy some Clarks dessert boots
Already have Autumn/winter, barely made it into summer clothes apart from one week. Already have boots/loafers/knitwear.
I am on the lookout for a decent coat though

Buttwing · 05/08/2016 15:09

Yessss! Autumn clothes I love A/W clothes.

I prefer to buy early otherwise I find I miss things/sizes.

Floisme I love those glasses a bit Ronnie Kray in a good wayWink

I'm not sure what I will be wearing this year yet, I bought some really gorgeous things last year as it was the first winter for ages I wasn't pregnant so I'm hoping to wear then again and just update with a few bits and pieces.

Floisme · 05/08/2016 15:20

Thanks Butt They're getting a mixed reception from my friends so I appreciate the support Grin

I was watching JFK again at the weekend and I thought if Keven Costner can look cool in them then so can I. (Sorry Kevin!)

I may pass on the pipe though.

Love those glasses, Flo.

CaitAgusMadra · 05/08/2016 18:53

Yay - I've found my people Grin

So I had my 3 glorious childfree shopping hours and got stocked up:
http://www.cosstores.com/ie/Women/Tops/Sweatshirts/Stripedcottonn_jumper/10673107-48327381.1#c-22755 this] lovely striped COS top. It's a lovely fabric and weight, nice long sleeves. Will be perfect with jeans and black tube skirt

God, I love Autumn clothes. I'm in Scotland and it has pretty much pissed rain every day since the schools broke up, so it already feels like summer is over before it started. Last a/w I was all about a-line skirts, with fitted crew-neck jumpers, opaques and Chelsea boots, so I'm looking forward to digging those out again. On my list so far are:

A really good parka - long enough to cover my skirts, but good with jeans too, big hood, preferably waterproof
Some dresses with sleeves, just above the knee, in heavy jersey
Chelsea boots with a decent sole
Long-sleeved blouses, pussy-bow necks, frills

Thus far, I have bought a few blouses. I think I am too early for the other stuff.

CaitAgusMadra · 05/08/2016 19:06

FFS I have post graduate degree - why do I find links so hard?! this

I also got a lovely forest green slightly open mesh jumper in COS but I can't find it on the website

Bought this print skirt also. Think it will work in winter and summer also

I also bought very boring but nice fit work trousers in H&M here

Next on my list are black ankle boots - like the Leisure ones here

Would also love a cream or winter white coat but this is possibly madness considering I have two kids under 3

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/08/2016 19:06

Oh, I do blouse/skinnies/Chelsea boots - jeans rolled up to ankle length - a lot too. Black leather biker, big blanket scarf.

Floisme · 05/08/2016 19:30

I was wondering if you'd managed your shopping, op. Lovely things there. I used to point and laugh at the Cos website but now I really wish there was a branch near us us.

As well as choosing specs, I'm still on my 'proper trousers' hunt and I like the look of these with brogues:
www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Trousers/Straight_tailored_trousers/46887-17608020.1#c-85346
Or these: www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Trousers/Relaxed_pleated_trousers/46887-11958950.1#c-7740672

But last time I did androgyny I had no arse or boobs and I'm not sure how to make it work this time around.

Basically, I want gunslinger boots.

Floisme · 05/08/2016 20:53

Love that first pair on the John Lewis site, Remus.

EnidButton · 05/08/2016 21:01

Nice picks Remus I like the Aldo ones and the Hudsons the most.

When is the best time to start buying do we think? Feel like it's still half Summer sale dregs half new A/W stock so don't want to buy big items too soon.

BrillianaHarvey · 05/08/2016 21:05

Loving the Hudsons!

DinosaursRoar · 05/08/2016 21:08

Remus - I like the second to last ones, but not sure how I could wear them with socks, and ankle boots need to work with socks for winter.

I find lots of brown ankle boots I like, I could do with some black ones as I've had to accept that I can't polish up my old ones any longer.

Anyone have any ideas what the 'key trends' are for AW? I'm always feeling a bit frumpy and need a bit of a clue what the young and fashionable types will be wearing so I can at least hint in that direction...

Zombiemama · 05/08/2016 21:09

I love A/W clothes shopping although i fit in my skinnies again after spending a year pregnant and the next year wishing i could fit back into them 😂

Im lucky i have a birthday early Sept so always get vouchers and stock up on boots usually tan ankle boots and a pair of calf lenght boots. I love long sleeved jumpers with a gilet and a scarf and some nice chunky cardis

Colour wise obviously black lol i never veer away from it! But also Navy burgundy mustard dark purples and forest green.

I cant wait for the cosy clothes and the frosty air ⛇

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2016 21:13

The Hudsons are just beautiful. Far too £££ though.

I like these shoes too, but suspect I may be alone in that!

ShellSuitonBonfireNight · 05/08/2016 21:16

Oooh I like your boots Remus. I bought these in black, earlier in the year and I'm looking forward to cracking them out again: www.schuh.co.uk/womens/red-or-dead-mountain-tan-boots/1473486220/

I've decided to indulge my inner teenager this Autumn and finally buy the school shoes my Mum wouldn't let me have! www.drmartens.com/uk/p/21418600 I can see her face when I turn up with them 15 years later! Shock Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2016 21:20

I've been seriously contemplating those exact DMs! I used tohave them in black, years ago, and gave them to the charity shop (because I am an idiot).

Like the Red or Deads too.

BrillianaHarvey · 05/08/2016 21:26

I'm not getting the Clarks brogues alas. Mind you, I still can't bring myself to buy Clarks shoes after the years of being hauled into the shop for school shoes and discovering that, once again, the only thing available in a G fitting was by far the frumpiest shoe in a selection already conspicuous for its frumpiness.
Maybe if they changed the logo.

SesameSparkle · 05/08/2016 22:32

Ahhh I've just finished shopping for summery things and was thinking I probably will wait till Autumn now before I have another shopping spree cos there's nothing left in the shops right now. It's also horrible and wet today and I wish I had a pair of opaque tights on. I want to buy a new pair of boots for autumn, something very flat, smart and with the lowest possible heel - although this last part might not exist. I was also thinking if I scout out something I like early on, I can go back to buy as soon as the big autumn promotions start - there's usually some good discounts around the end of September and I want to be ready.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/08/2016 22:57

Sorry but in Primary school [ here in Scotland] we teach August as part of summer.[ I am a primary teacher]
It goes:
Summer - June, July, August.
Autumn - Sept, Oct, Nov
Winter - Dec, Jan, Feb,
Spring - March, April, May

I love Autumn. I love winter woollies and scarves and coats, boots. Things made of cord and textures.
Its my favourite time. Looking forward to lovely jumpers!! Thick tights and boots.

Sorry two posts!!!! Bloody internet!

EnidButton · 05/08/2016 23:42

Things made of cord and textures.

Ooh yes. Silk, leather, cord, cashmere. Properly cut, good quality fabrics that hang nicely. I've never really found any Summer clothes that aren't either a bit cheap looking or hang like a tent.
