Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

inyour I wore mine with a buttoned up slim fit white shirt, neat navy bomber and Blundstone boots. Also worn them with a cropped boxy top with tightly fitted sleeves. And again a white fitted shell top/vest with white tennis shoes. As long as there is evidence of a waist, they look good imo! Tried the Joesph Raw demin Caro jeans but they were just a bit too much but I liked their slouchy effect.

Floisme welcome to the proper trousers club. I agree, tops will need considering for autumn. At the moment I'm wearing looseish viscose, silk or linen tops tucked in but tucking in won't work for jumpers. I imagine a short just below the waist top (a good knit or thick jersey) would work best but in slim, straight shape. All cropped jumpers on offering though are wide and boxy, which is not a great look on me. ahhhh I can imagine it so well why can't I find it dammit

stately thanks for the shirt suggestion, I do have one from Cos. And blundstone boots. Hahaha You'll know me when you see me in identical outfit to yours. Agree about the waist, and fitted tops, the trick is to not be baggy all over.

Thanks JonSnow Smile I'm finding longish tops look ok if they're fitted, as does short and fitted or even short and slouchy. But not long and slouchy - which is what I've grown to used to these last few years. I'm tempted to just grab some scissors and chop!

It's funny but I feel completely different wearing trousers: confident and a bit devil- may-care. It takes me back to when I was in my early twenties, striding into work like the arrogant little fucker I was! And now, edging towards retirement, I'm getting that same feeling again.

Tried some absolutely gorgeous grey wool wide leg trews on today, in the White Company sale. They were too long though. :( I have a bit of a thing for grey wool!

Saw these boots in Clarks, and they are really lovely.

I liked skirt in Whistles too, except it's blue and I don't like blue!

Floisme - which whistles trousers did you get? (and what is their sizing like?) I'm thinking trousers, rather than trying to find jeans is the way forward...

Think the skirt link is broken Remus (or might just be my phone) Those boots look very soft.

I had some gorgeous grey wool trousers I used to wear for work with a fitted lambs wool jumper that sat on the waist. Wool trousers hang really well.

Dinosaurs I can't see them on the website dammit but I think they were these but in khaki and only £30 - sorry

I'm really pleased with them and I'm thinking about getting them in a more wintry colour (hoping they do grey) when Grazia do their 25% offer.

I'm normally size 8-10 and these are 10. They're slightly long (I'm 5'3) but I've just doubled the cuff over so far - I'll shorten them once I've washed them a couple of times.

Oh and it says dry clean only but I've already machine washed them (got chocolate on them the first time I wore them) on the wool cycle and they were fine.

You sure you can't be tempted anyway Remus? It's a very dark blue.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/08/2016 20:11

Absolutely not, Enid. Blue and I will never be friends!

A lovely friend has said that she will make me a skirt, so I need to choose some fabric for that. Decisions!

Grin Bit like me and black above the waist. Although I've been tempted by a few black dresses this season. Might try it.

Apart from bags and leather jackets, they're find in black.

I wear black so much! Do quite fancy a coloured jumper this year though - maybe burgundy.

Burgundy is my favourite colour. It does with everything I own.

I really like burgundy but am not entirely convinced it suits me. I have a tendency to being a little sallow and think it might exaggerate that!

I killed the thread. :(

Bought a burgundy top today and some wide legged grey trousers. V pleased with both!

Someone asked what this year's trends will be for A/W. Here's a brief summary of the major A/W fashion mags. Velvet, tracksuit bottoms and coats draped over one shoulder. Presumably not all at once.

Coats draped over one shoulder are SO practical when dashing to Sainsbury's in the rain!

Grin We returned at the same time Remus fear not! According to some crap newspapers, there's a heatwave coming. I give no shits. My mind is in full Autumn mode now, there's no stopping me.

I hear industrial stapling is big this season.
