Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

I love a good Breton top. But they're really common round my area. Especially when I go into John Lewis every other woman seems to be wearing one! They are lovely though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2016 17:30

Stately - both of those sound nice, but no good for work.

Enid - I think the crisscrossy sides are lovely. Tempted to go and try them on!

Cellar - It's definitely still too warm for tartan scarves.

EnidButton · 11/08/2016 17:51

Go and try them on for the thread and report back. and buy them

It's definitely not too warm for tartan scarves here. Very Autumnal weather. I'm holding back until September though.

Statelychangers · 11/08/2016 18:17

Wide legged for work you say - then I'd still go for a chunky flat - maybe a tap shoe or pumps or loafers. Never a heel! Or wide legged crops work with a heel - imo, of course! Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2016 18:59

I have to wear a bit of a heel with wide legged trews as am a short arse. Otherwise, I risk looking as wide as I am tall!

dragonsarebest · 11/08/2016 19:28

I'm looking forward to autumn too. I really want some nice leather brogues to wear with opaques and dresses and a jumper that is as close to this one that I missed earlier this year as possible and have been stalking ebay for ever since. It was so thick and soft and snuggly and beautifully shaped but the size I needed was gone before I could nab it.

Other than that I don't think I need anything...famous last words Wink

Any suggestions for either?

Colliefeatures · 11/08/2016 19:31

Brilliant thread! I would love a tartan scarf! I have just been having a look at Sea Salt - they have some lovely colour bits in their "New In" section. These dodgy "pear" socks stood out to me though. They look slightly wrong Blush Seasalt socks

Statelychangers · 11/08/2016 21:48

Remus - how about flatforms?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2016 21:54

Great god and all his little pixies - no. I'd rather stick to my mum boots (or go barefoot)!

Statelychangers · 11/08/2016 22:09

I'd just avoid wide legged trousers!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2016 22:13

Or wear them how I like to wear them even? Think I'll do that! Grin

Statelychangers · 11/08/2016 22:20

Whatever suits! Smile

EnidButton · 11/08/2016 22:24

Christ no to flatworms. Not in any situation. Grin Sorry to those who like them, they're not for me.

EnidButton · 11/08/2016 22:25

Flatforms even. Definitely not flatworms.

Statelychangers · 11/08/2016 22:27

I feel that way about mum boots! I like a 1960's mod style creeper flat form with pointy toes, they very lovely - bugger to find though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2016 09:53

Flatworms Grin

None of my boots are actually mum boots, whatever the hell they are.

Kikibanana86 · 12/08/2016 10:42

I still see most ankle boots as mum boots, I just can't change the way I look at them lol.

I really hate wide legged trousers I don't think I've seen anyone look good in them! I actually love skinnies! I don't want them to go!

Floisme · 12/08/2016 10:49

Dammit I was supposed to be buying a decent raincoat with a hood this autumn, even if it cost me £££.

I'm going to end up making do again, aren't I?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2016 16:18

Just breaking in my new Docs - bloody hell, they're heavy!

Floisme · 12/08/2016 17:01

I think my first proper autumn buy might be a leather coat I've seen in a vintage shop. I've been after one for a while and was talking about it on an earlier thread. To summarise, think Emma Peel, not Herr Flick Wink just above the knee, straight up and down, sharp cut, very 60s.

The only snag...it's black which I swore I didn't want. But it's not that harsh, shiny new black; it's weathered and aged and I think I've managed to convince myself that it's really dark grey.

Anyway at £40, it feels rude not to.

EnidButton · 12/08/2016 17:06

Bargain Flo You'll only regret it if you don't snatch it up now it's caught your eye.

The annual perfect leather jacket hunt has begun for me. Determined to find one this year. Have to buy online though and last time I ordered a leather jacket it was creased to fuck once it got here.

So leather jacket, bag, jeans. Once I've got those sorted I can get more interesting stuff.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2016 17:08

Flo - you've been wanting one forever. You should deffo get it!

EnidButton · 12/08/2016 17:10

Black, on waist so not quite cropped but not long, silver hardware, diagonal zip, no buckles on the sides, bit of quilting on the sleeves might be nice, soft, not too heavy, zips on sleeve cuffs.

Not too fussy then. 🙄 Grin If anyone comes across one on their Autumn buying travels, give me a shout.

EnidButton · 12/08/2016 17:10

^that's a leather jacket I'm after. Forgot that bit.

EnidButton · 12/08/2016 17:11

Not shiny silver, dull brass is ok, just not gold. 🙄🙄
