Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

Also love Autumn. Love love love boots. I'm so over skinny jeans though, they just aren't comfy. I'm currently hunting for a slim leg trouser/boot combo that isn't too frumpy. Does it exist?

That skirt is gorgeous. Wondering about fluff issues again though. Tempting.

My problem every autumn is what to wear with skirts and dresses etc. Last year I wore heeled brogues from office but they are looking a bit sad.
I can't wear the Clarks hamble oaks or my feet will look even more manly than they are.
I can't wear mid calf boots as my calves are chunky and they make my calves look chunkier still.
So is it knee high boots again or is there a new type of heeled easy to walk in shoe (that is not a loafer) that I can try?

Daily I feel your pain on the shoe/boot front. I used to wear calf length boots but my calves and ankles became much chunkier after having DS and they aren't flattering on me anymore. I do like knee highs but they often end up scrunching down and looking baggy or welly like.

Enid I love how you class leopard print as a neutral Grin

I'm struggling with what to wear my new boots with, they are a biscuity beige colour suede and over the knee, don't know how to link but I got them from next ( don't usually buy from there but they usually have the odd nice pair of boots) what jacket snd bag can I wear with them? I don't want to overload on suede or beige haha

Leopard print totally is a neutral. Embrace it, people Smile

Cait, I have that stripy COS top too! I wore it for about a week non-stop after I bought it , it is very comfy. Right now, we are having a warm spell (I'm in Scandinavia) so I have reverted to summer clothes. Trying to stay in denial about autumn

Autumn is my favourite season too.
I wear lots of black, white/cream, grey, khaki and blues but I'll be adding a bit of bottle green, navy and I fancy pink and burgundy shades for autumn too.
I'll be wearing heeled ankle boots and slightly cropped jeans and trousers. I'd like a pleated midi skirt and I already have a midi dress from last year.
I rather like the victoriana blouses I've seen filtering into Gap and Zara.
I've bought a couple of fitted cashmere jumpers in the sales.
Not sure I'll buy a new coat this year. I bought a collarless coat from Boden last year and have a trusty parka.

I love Victorian style blouses, but they don't work well on norks. :(

JohnCheese · 07/08/2016 19:52

Agree Remus. Even reasonable boobs look all bosomy in those Victoriana blouses.

No idea what I'll wear this Autumn. I'm thoroughly pissed off. Summer is my fav season for dressing. It suits me, I suit it. And so far summer has been fairly pants. Pants. So doncha know, we'll have one of this mild autumns where no on knows what on earth to wear.

BlueEyedWonder · 07/08/2016 20:20

I have no norks so those blouses are for me!

I like the idea of Victorian-esque shirts and dresses but think I'm too pale and thin and boobs too big to suit them. I'll either look like an ill child or matronly. Interested to see them though if anyone has a link to the latest ones?

Thin 🙄 I'm a size 10, I meant narrow shouldered.

This one is pretty and (wonder of wonders) cotton too. Unfortunately it's navy, which I hate.

EnidButton · 07/08/2016 20:30

I like that and I love navy. Wouldn't look right on me though, too much hair and boobs.

Report
JohnCheese · 07/08/2016 21:32

Like that navy too. And I love navy. Worth a go when I get over my pissed-offedness at summer.

Resistance is futile John Embrace it.

It's howling wind and pouring down here, I'm in full Autumn mode. Even though it's technically Summer. All the Summer stock in the shops and online is looking tired.

I used to wear jeans all the time, but now I wear skirts most days. So I'll carry on wearing skirts with bare legs until the weather gets cold enough for leggings or tights and carry on wearing skirts. I have a long black coat which hides all the lumps and bumps, but won't be wearing that til it's really cold!! I favour mainly black clothes with bright shoes and accessories, but love to wear home made brightly coloured skirts. I love my red Fly London shoes and want to get either some purple or some red Fly London boots this year!

Regretting slightly that I didn't get the stripy top.

Also inheriting a couple oh DP's jumpers that shrank in the wash, a charcoal gray merino wool one and a forest green lambswool. Fantasising about wearing them with a silk dress in autumn colours floral print and merino tights. Just need to find the dress.

inyour I have those jean/trousers from Toast - they are massive so I had to size down but I love them - love how fresh the shape feels. I want some very chunky brogue boots.
For Autumn I'm moving away from skinnies, I'm officially bored with the shape so I'm on the hunt for something else and not flares or boot cuts.

I love Autumn clothes too, definitely my favourite season. I usually put off that moment when you wear boots for the first time after months of flip flops as long as I can but when I finally give in it feels brilliant! There's something about that time of year which makes me want to buy all sorts of new things and reinvent myself - think it goes back to new uniform/pencil case etc when I was at school.

I am pleased to hear velvet is back as I have a lovely jacket from years ago, hope it still works now. I am on the look for some heavyish jersey dresses to wear with tights and brogues but I do find skirts and dresses hard so won't be surprised if I end up reverting back to my usual skinnies, layered tops and biker jacket.

Stately I've been on a mission of changing from skinny jeans to wider styles this summer too, it feels so exciting. I had three pairs of summer wide trousers that are baggy at top and tapered at ankle, it was easy to style them with sandals but the autumn version may be more of a challenge. good point about chunky brogues, so that's my next mission. What are you wearing yours with?

Stately and JonSnow I'm joining you back in proper, grown up trousers. I bought some in the Whistles sale: narrow leg, very slightly tapered, cropped at the ankle and I love wearing them. I've spent the last few years in tube skirts and skinnies and I'd forgotten how good a well fitting pair of trousers makes me feel.

At the moment I'm wearing them with brogues but I've also got an old pair of brogueish looking ankle boots somewhere which I think will work when it gets colder. (This is why I will never have a capsule wardrobe.) Tops are trickier though and some of my favourite jumpers just don't work with this shape.
