Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

Remus I'm v jealous you've already owned a pair of the DMs. I really hope they fit my feet as they are going to be a post-baby-who-knows-when-i-will-be-back-in-normal-clothes treat!

Currently 38 weeks pregnant so this Summer season has passed me by style wise, but Autumn is my favourite season.

I am contemplating a Russian shawl to wear as an oversize scarf once Sept/Oct is here.

Cord would love a pair of cords but they don't seem to be around at the moment do they? Maybe a cord skirt??

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2016 09:40

I got rid of the DMs because they were too wide for my narrow feet, and made my skinny ankles look even skinnier. I am older and fatter now, so maybe they'll fit better!

I really like cord when it's not too chunky, but it's difficult to find.

Its a beautiful day in London and I am eyeing up a skirt/vest/sandals combo (still in PJs) Grin

However... I fancy a change from my usual 'style' (use that word loosely!) this AW.

I've got stuck in a midi or pencil dress/black tights/black helped ankle boots rut at work, and a jeans/converse/strip top rut at weekends.

I need an intervention of some sort.

SortItAhhht · 06/08/2016 09:48

*heeled boots
*strip top

SortItAhhht · 06/08/2016 09:48

STRIPY, damn you

EnidButton · 06/08/2016 14:40

Found a cord skirt. Good length, can't tell if it's baby cord or chinky but I'd guess baby cord. Black but I'd quite like a wine red one. Good basic though. m.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-cord-pencil-skirt/p/2823430

EnidButton · 06/08/2016 14:40

Oh dear Christ CHUNKY.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2016 14:50

I've seen that cord skirt in store. It's nice (baby cord) but did seem as if it would pick a lot of fluff up, as the ones in store were already looking a bit fluffy.

EnidButton · 06/08/2016 16:50

Oh damn, I'd forgotten how much black baby cord picks up fluff. That would get on my nerves. I had some black cord trousers years ago that were permanently covered in mystery white fluff. That rules it out then. Thank you for the reminder.

Autumn is definitely my favourite season, especially for clothes.

I love long boots with a line skirts (think preppy rather than Kirstie Allsopp) and skinnies rolled with ankle boots, leather jackets and huge scarves.

Whataboutwhathuh · 06/08/2016 17:40

I'm so lost. I'm a size 10 now and just become a stay at home mum and I have nothing to wear. I'm guessing I'll need to go shopping so I'm place marking!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2016 17:55

I bought a tartan skirt last Autumn, and wore it a lot. Would love a tartan dress, but haven't managed to find a nice one in the last couple of years.

Also see that velvet is 'back' and could be tempted by a black or grey velvet blazer.

EnidButton · 06/08/2016 18:04

God I loved my tartan skirts in my teens. Tartan skirt, opaques, black boots. Yes. I'm adding that to my list right away.

Kikibanana86 · 06/08/2016 18:12

Leopard print is going to be a big Autumn trend apparently. I'd love a non trashy leopard print coat but not sure I could pull it off!

Kikibanana86 · 06/08/2016 18:14

I'll mostly be wearing skater dresses with tights and boots, or skinny jeans with either black or beige suede over the knee boots with scoop neck tops. Not sure what jacket. I have a black leather biker jacket and a khaki bomber but want a couple more options.

Savagebeauty · 06/08/2016 18:17

Oh Autumn fan here too.
I actually successfully bought 2 items in Cos yesterday...a heavy V back Plisse type top and black herringbone trousers with a slit at the front.

I'm going to wear dresses and skirts with ankle boots this year....just bought a nice Warehouse dress. I'm six feet, 35 inch inside legs and size 14 . Oh and 56.

2protecttheinnocent · 06/08/2016 18:38

I LOVE Autumn it is my favourite along with winter.

I wear several combinations depending on what I'm doing

Skinny jeans and knits with boots (either ankle, knee or calf) Don't care it's bloody comfy

Skirts a line or fit and flare with boots (bit kirsty allsop)

Tailored shorts with opacs and shoes normally with shirts and tank top (picked this look up in itally and I love it)

Tailored dresses and biker jackets with scarf for colour

My favourite vintage 3/4 lengths sleeved costs and long master gloves

I have loads of leather gloves, scarves and hats (trilby warn asque or those sort of soft cap thingies) I just love love love them

Love all the rich warm Autumn colours too

EnidButton · 06/08/2016 18:59

Kiki I love leopard print. I'd class it as a neutral tbh. But only hav some accessories in it. I'd like a short jacket, maybe biker style in leopard print.

Lottapianos · 06/08/2016 19:06

Anyone seen any nice leopard print skirts?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2016 19:09

I've got a cropped leopard print jacket, but it scares me a bit. Rarely wear it.

claptomania · 06/08/2016 19:11

What dress did you buy in Warehouse, savage? We are the same height & weight and I have a voucher burning a hole...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2016 19:12

Lotta - Too short?

claptomania · 06/08/2016 19:12

Size, not weight!

Lottapianos · 06/08/2016 19:15

Ooh that's lovely Remus. A bit short for work, but maybe for weekends!

Savagebeauty · 06/08/2016 19:25

It has buttons down the side. Also available in khaki.
