do you shave or wax genital area?

I hate shaving! it usually gives me an ugly rash after a day and I find it difficult because I have a longish labia on one side which gets in the way. Even if I pull it tight to one side I still can't get a smooth shave because the razor is too wide.. if that makes sense..

I'm considering waxing instead. Any of you girls do this? Any do's and don'ts and what product do you use etc.?

or do you just pay to get it done professionally?

oh and how long until the hair grows back?

thanks girls x

Just interested to know how that works?
Is it because you are self conscious of having hair rather than a physical sensation? ie mental rather than physical.
Just don't understand how having hair or not could make much difference.

Baconyum · 11/11/2015 18:23

I shave. Swim a lot and its easier than maintaining a trim plus find it more enjoyable for sex too. I agree its nobody else's business what a person chooses to do. Would you be so vocal about a persons head hair style?!

I use Wilkinson blades, aloe shave gel and moisturise after with coconut or aloe moisturiser.

expatinscotland · 11/11/2015 18:25

'Anyway, I wonder how you wannabe baddies will cope in older age when the creep of foliage is ever increasing yet the flexibility and the will to wax is on the wane...?'

IPL. Gone forever. Duh.

Theonethatgotaway772 · 11/11/2015 18:27

I shave lots of moisturiser and it's fine,I also fine sex better

How does waxing my fanny make me a wannabe bad ass? I thought it was my tattoos that did that...

As for the porn comments, I started shaving when I was 13, way before I was aware of porn and I was 18 before I even kissed a boy, let alone got naked with one.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 11/11/2015 18:32

So Ive never done it because of porn, or for a man. I do it because I want a hair free fanny, arse crack and legs. I wax everywhere, I have lots of thick black hair and I fucking hate it, thats why I do it.

Go clutch your pearls elsewhere.

My fanny aint your concern.

SparklyTinselTits · 11/11/2015 18:34

If it's your first time waxing...please for the love of God, go to a salon!! The possible things that can go wrong doing it yourself don't even beat thinking about. Confused
The first time I just had a general bikini line tidy up because I was scared it was going to really hurt! Wasn't that bad, and nowadays, I'm a full Hollywood kinda girl. Only needs doing about 5/6 times a year, way less hassle than shaving, and no nasty rash or ingrown hairs

Theonethatgotaway772 · 11/11/2015 18:34

I agree with tilltook I started shaving at 14 nothing to do with porn, just not liking a hairy fanny.

thunderbird69 · 11/11/2015 18:35

I've considered going for a wax (just the edges not all over) but what I don't understand is - you have to have the hair a reasonable length to get it waxed, so do you grow it, get it all waxed off, have it clear and smooth for a few weeks (?) and then have to wait for it to grow to the required length again? Unlike shaving where you can keep removing the regrowth.

CuttedUpPear · 11/11/2015 18:35

I'm laughing at all the people telling me to mind my own business.

You're on a wide open internet forum, which gets advertising revenue from hits on threads. Posting about your own pubic hair.

Personally I have done both - so waxed / been almost bald and also been hairy. Not made a difference to sex.
Currently sporting a 70's retro look.
Brazilians are a bit 2000's don't you think? The 70's are cool again Grin

AspieUnicorn · 11/11/2015 18:39

I wax it myself. I'm a qualified beauty therapist though.

FedUpWithJudgementalPeople · 11/11/2015 18:42

Do you honestly think young teenagers suddenly wake up one day and think they wanted to be hairless?
You don't think they are influenced by other things??

Each to their own, but It bothers me if young girls feel pressure to conform to a certain look - which I think they do. Otherwise why would anyone ever start shaving?
I certainly started shaving my legs because I felt embarrassed to have hairy legs. It wasn't that suddenly I decided completely of my own accord that hairy legs didn't feel nice. I wanted to fit in with peers.

Crankycunt · 11/11/2015 18:43

Without getting too detailed, my pubes are thick, long, and wiry. Getting rid or at least trimming short said pubes means that more skin is exposed, I'm not explaining the rest Grin

If you want to shave/wax do it, if you don't, don't, but don't judge and ridicule others for making choices about their own bodies.

Fairylea · 11/11/2015 18:44

Another advantage to having no hair is sanitary towels never stick to it if they twist up, and you never get to see a grey pube which is great if you're in denial about getting older. Wink

I never get this whole thing about being childlike. I'm 35 years old, my body is never going to look like a child's regardless of whether I have pubic hair or not.

Leavingsosoon · 11/11/2015 18:44

Yes, I often think many of those who vilify us who remove their pubic hair do not realise how miserable excess body hair makes you.

I Veet. The lot.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 11/11/2015 18:46

I was influenced by nothing. My teen years were pre-internet. I had no interest in girly magazines. None of my friends shaved their pubes off.

The main issue for me being a sensory thing. I hate body hair, I always have, it always distressed me right from puberty starting.

I dont give a shiny shit whats popular or mainstream or cool or socially acceptable etc. I do what I want to do with my body for me and you are incredibly patronising.

passmethewineplease · 11/11/2015 18:46

I use conditioner when I shave. Seems to help. It doesn't really irritate me either. I'm too much of a wimp to wax.

I hate pubes. Natural or not.

They feel sort of wirey. Shock

It amuses that some people can come on to a thread, say something completely different/irrelevant to the OP. What's the point?

People can do what they wish to their bodies. For whatever reason they deem fit.

You want to wax it off? That's OK, want to embrace the bush? That's OK too.

Jesus some of the attitudes on this thread are hilarious. Childlike. Pffft. I think theres quite a few differences between adult women and children, and if you need pubes to signpost the difference for you, you've got bigger problems.

I shave because I like it, and I like the look. Partner does it too for the same reasons. Side benefit: neither of us like swallowing pubes.

itsmeohlord · 11/11/2015 18:49

I shave - underneath and the bottom area. Leave a bit at the front. have done this for years. And I am quite old!

expatinscotland · 11/11/2015 18:50

I'm the same, Till. Have lots of body hair and never liked it or how it felt and the way it covered up my body. So I got rid of it.
