Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Finished a perfume this morning! Unfortunately I've got more bottles than I know what to do with so its not made a dent in my stash at all... I've scattered a few around the house so I'm going to get through them quicker than just a couple of sprays each morning whilst I'm upstairs getting dressed. Toddler ds 'helpfully' dropped one on the bathroom floor and knackered the spray bit so looks like that one is destined for the bin.

Ememem84 · 20/11/2015 11:47

Jo Malone travel line basil perfume finished.

Also boots dry shampoo finished.

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 23/11/2015 14:40

I've finished and binned a concealer pen and a powder. I cannot find my normal brown eyeliner but am trying the different things I have rather than just buying a new one.

IPokeBadgers · 23/11/2015 15:22

Finished a Palmer's Cocoa Butter handcream: really like and will eventually repurchase...but have a lot of other handcreams to get through first.

I am afraid the wheels have rather come off my mindful spending bus lately....popped into M&S for a pair of jeans, socks and a thermal vest yesterday and ended up spending over £200! None of it on beauty, but as I have succumbed to a QVC Elemis TSV and had a Molton Brown binge a couple of weeks ago when they had their 25% off day I appear to have rather undone much of my good work I'm afraid!

I also gave away a palette I never use. Slowly slowly I will get rid of what I don't use!

FiveShelties · 23/11/2015 22:53

My last old nail polish - M & S Autograph. No need to replace as have already purchased new polish based on recommendations posted on another thread.

Ememem84 · 25/11/2015 12:25

original source lemon shower gel used up. next on hit list- soap and glory one.
theres a small part of me that really hopes i won't be given any toiletries for christmas. and another part which wishes i will. so i won't have to spend my own money...!!

FrustratedFrugal · 25/11/2015 17:59

I've used up a jar of Nip+Fab glycolic acid pads. I really like these. I did get a patch of sun damage on my lip that had to be frozen off, but they make my skin incredibly smooth. So I'll use these during the dark season and switch to salicylic acid later on. Anyway, started my back-up jar already.

Hi keep I'd try and repurpose the serum on feet maybe?

I never liked that stuff found it made my skin feel 'clumpy'

Nothing else used up today. Still ploughing through though.

FrustratedFrugal · 27/11/2015 17:09

I used up a stick deodorant today. I have three backups Blush I did notice, though, that one of my dresser drawers is half empty!

Have found a neutral eye palette that I had forgotten about and that seems just right for me - flattering cool browns, very fine shimmer but no glitter fall-off. I think I will use it a lot in the coming months.

legohurtswhenyoustandonit · 27/11/2015 19:40

Erm I've fallen off the wagon big time and bought an Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream giftset and large makeup box from Boots last night. In my defence they were very heavily discounted (bought the two for about £30 once I take the bonus points into account). But I do feel as though I've undone a lot of the work from the last few months...

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 27/11/2015 21:46

Ok, so I've been trying to use up old/less loved foundation. It's totally the wrong colour. Is there any way I can save it, so it's not wasted, or do I have to just accept it?

dogwalker75 · 27/11/2015 22:00

Boy, make up revolution do a white foundation (£4) and I mix that with some of my darker foundations on the back of my hand before applying them.

legohurtswhenyoustandonit · 28/11/2015 10:49

Finished up a moisturiser today - a Body Shop seaweed matifying one with spf. It was nice and I'll repurchase once I've used the three other moisturisers that are waiting to be used.

FrustratedFrugal · 28/11/2015 11:07

Boy, I use an old foundation that is far too yellow for me as undereye coverup. It neutralizes my panda eyes, I use a taclon brush to apply it. Slow going, about 1/3 of the bottle used up so far. I've also mixed a too-dark foundation with serum or a really pale foundation to get the shade I want.

FiveShelties · 28/11/2015 13:41

A M & S Grapefruit Shower Gel finished today. I dare not replace it as I have enough shower gel to last the two of us for around a year. So stupid.

I do love finishing things off since I started reading this thread. Smile

GuyMartinsSideburns · 30/11/2015 14:24

Finished some bath crystals I had, almost finished an 'xmassy' Hmm scented shower gel. Was an Xmas present off mil, and as is tradition I picked a present and opened it early Blush just as well I did really cos I hate getting Xmas themed things for Xmas, cos I'm daft and feel I can only use them in December and by the 25th I doubt I'd use it up by New Years eve Grin I've got a gingerbread one to use from tomorrow Blush

dogdaydisaster · 30/11/2015 20:18

Thanks to this thread I feel ready for some Christmas smellies to come my way. I've recently finished up a deodorant, conditioner and shampoo but have plenty in reserve. Got the elemis TSV as a birthday gift from mil, but I use that all the time so that's fine. I'm very near the end of my Una Brennan night cream, and had to go and buy a new one. And my ole henriksen day cream is almost gone (but I have about 3 elemis day creams to get through). Shower creams, body lotions, scrubs are down to one reserve.

So I'll be cracking open my l'occitane avent calendar in the morning with only a small level of guilt.

Eliza22 · 01/12/2015 11:00

NUXE Face Serum (in tall twist top container). Finished up but sadly, have another to open. Didn't rate it. Will return to Vichy stuff when done.

mowglik · 01/12/2015 23:15

Hi all - haven't checked in here for ages. I haven't finished much lately but am nearing the bottom of some bits. I also gave my sister some nuxe stuff I had - gentle toner, face cream and a radiance serum that she will hopefully make good use of as she's just had a baby!

My stash does look better to me now though, it's all the stuff I use all the time and love using. The products I want to use up I have dumped into a big cardboard box and look through there every day for something I can slap on.

My OH is really good for passing on body cream as he uses it more than I do and is less fussy Grin

Will report back when I've finished a few more things - am still loving the reviews on this thread and looking forward to whittling down my stash to stuff I really enjoy using.

dogdaydisaster · 02/12/2015 10:15

Una Brennan Superfacialist rose night cream finished last night. I liked it, but am not the biggest fan of rose fragranced things so replaced it with another from the range as amazingly I didn't have a spare Grin.

Make up is slow, DD has been asking for my Naked 2 palette so I may pass that on. I also finished a Bobbi Brown shadow which took ages and I'm glad it's gone as it realy was nothing special.

I do have the L'Occitane advent calendar so am in line for a load of samples, but feel pretty confident those can be used fairly easily now that things are lighter in general. The handcream from yesterday has gone straight to my desk at work, and the shampoo from today will either go into my (very tightly controlled) travel bag or into the shower to use asap as I really like the scent.

FrustratedFrugal · 02/12/2015 16:34

I'm almost done with two full-size products. I dumped my lipsticks in a big Tupperware container, it is pretty full Blush I keep a few at hand so they will get worn more often. I haven't bought new makeup in ages, hoping to stay that way.

Ememem84 · 02/12/2015 18:54

Finished tresseme shampoo and conditioner - the red silk one. It's good. But have about a million to use up before I buy more shampoo.
