Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

I have binned 2 products that have gone off: nadinola fade cream which I've been using on my knees and haven't seen any difference in at all - I used this tub years ago and it did help lighten my elbows so it just must not be very potent anymore.

Threw away an elf makeup setting spray which has always smelled cheesy even when I asked for a replacement from elf. It did the job but I can't stand the smell which lingers for a good few min so in the bin it went.

Have also finished a large vanilla candle from costco, and a couple of tea lights from a white company set. Am lighting candles all the time now to reduce my stash and also to actually enjoy them when at home!

Ememem84 · 20/10/2015 17:50

Woah! Loads of updates!

paper I'm the same. I try where possible to stuck with what my skin knows. Clarins is what seems to work for me thank goodness it seems to last forever on a whim a while ago and because we were talking about "teenage" products at work I bought some st Ives apricot scrub (remember that?). It brought my lovely blemish free clarins face out in hideous spots like it did when I was a kid so am using as a foot scrub/body scrub.

And am back to clarins for my skin care.

I love the dove self tan summer glow stuff. And will be re buying once I've got through my moisturiser stash.

Three more body butters to go....

Have regifted a few things (just wrapped in cellophane and added to a bottle of wine) and have also taken a load of hand creams into work. One for my desk and put a couple in the ladies loo. Just makes the place a bit nicer.

Have suggested a make up swap but I fear that if I do this I'll end up with more than I have already!

FiveShelties · 20/10/2015 21:46

I have just used up an Apivita Face Mask from M & S which I really liked - it has been discontinued so that will stop me replacing it. I have one sachet left and that is the last face mask product.

Ememem84 · 21/10/2015 13:08

Molton brown orange shower gel used up this morning.

Yippee

FiveShelties · 21/10/2015 14:50

Hand soap finished which I had worn to an absolute sliver. Cannot remember what it was but there are about another 50 assorted types (or more) to take its place.

dogdaydisaster · 21/10/2015 16:49

I have finished an elemis body lotion.

Make up is goingvery slowly, but I did manage to use up a mascara this week. i'm currently wading through two foundations, which I mix together so am hoping to get Dior Star done with soon.

I am sorely tempted by the beauty advent calendars though.....

Grok · 22/10/2015 16:52

Have to say, one of the best side effects of trying to use up my beauty hoard (makeup and perfume over here) is that I'm making more of an effort more often and feeling (and looking better) for it. Like I'll put on a spritz of perfume for everyday wear or I'll add a bit of lippy or eyeshadow to my daily makeup.

IPokeBadgers · 23/10/2015 19:27

Finished one of the many facial cleansers, a Superfacialist Rose Hydrate cream cleanser. Like this, have another one in the stash but am going to try an elemis pro radiancecream cleanser next.....look forward to trying it.

A huge bottle of Tresemme Conditioner which took months to use up - one more left and then I may have to actually purchase some conditioner because I need it.

Heathcliff27 · 27/10/2015 11:22

Wow, how did I miss the first thread?? Here now though and still wading through the mountain of soap and glory products that I've received from MIL every birthday and xmas for 2 years since I said I liked the smell Confused

Paperblank · 27/10/2015 17:23

Heathcliff you need to start planting the "don't buy me this stuff for Christmas" seed now. It will be on offer in Boots very very soon.

Drop subtle hints...."oh how I wish I could revamp my knicker drawer/tea towel stash/wine glasses but it seems silly to ask for these for Christmas and I know people sometimes don't like giving vouchers but I LOVE VOUCHERS!!!" Wink

Ememem84 · 27/10/2015 18:26

heath if you don't like it (or are just bored with it) could you regift?

I'm thinking this is what I might do with some of mine.

Heathcliff27 · 27/10/2015 19:03

I might have to try and regift some of it, its taking over Shock. I've told DH no more bath products if she asks. Theres only so much body lotion one person can use

GingerLemonTea · 28/10/2015 18:49

3 candles used up & 2 jewellery items I bought ages ago donated for school raffle as they didn't suit.

Ememem84 · 28/10/2015 19:12

So close to finishing clarins body lotion. It'll be gone tomorrow. I hope. Then only another 5 moisturisers left. I think.

Ememem84 · 28/10/2015 19:12

Also finished jo Malone candle. Which i loved. Am annoyed no one bought me new ones for my birthday this month. humph

FrustratedFrugal · 28/10/2015 19:19

Haven't used up anything but picked an eye shadow duo and two lipsticks that I am focusing on for the next month. Loving the new look, subtle winter neutrals.

diggerdigsdogs · 29/10/2015 02:42

Can I join please?

I'm desperately trying to use up what I have and not buy more!

Sirzy · 29/10/2015 06:31

I finished a primer yesterday.

However I do have a confession - I also ordered a no 7 advent Calender yesterday Blush

Ememem84 · 29/10/2015 08:10

Today have finished clarins body lotion. Nice. But have too many to use up before I rebuy or hopefully get some for Christmas/birthday

Also finished Dior sample mascara. Did not like this. Made my lashes look really clumpy and thin. Good riddance.

IPokeBadgers · 30/10/2015 11:56

Yay, I can get back in....haven't been able to get signed in since MNHQ changed the sign in to using email.

Having a funny sort of week....finished up a Rituals shower foam [Zensation, which I love and I have at least one spare in the stash] but really wanting to spend, spend, spend on all the Xmas lovelies that are coming out everywhere.

So far I am having pangs of regret at not buying the QVC Liz Earle TSV [even though I have THREE unopened Cleanse and Polish in the stash] and I am regretting not getting my £10 of Boots points because I was in Boots the other day when the event was on and I simply couldn't make myself spend £50 on "stuff". [To be fair, I was tempted by the Babyliss Curl pods but they were out of stock] Sirzy I am also agonising over the No 7 advent calendar!!!

And I am currently wrangling with the fact that there 25% off at Molton Brown website...

Is anyone else like this at this time of year?

[oh, and to be clear, these are not presents - although some of it would prob be used as such in the course of the year - this impulse is just me wanting to buy nice stuff because it is discounted, thereby adding to the stash!]

I'm fucked up, aren't I!

Welcome diggerdigsdogs

I have finished today a Clarins Night cream which I really liked but have a couple of No 7 ones to be used up before I need a replacement.

I am really trying to resist buying new stuff IPokeBadgers - you are absolutely right it does seem so difficult at this time of year. I was eyeing the No 7 Advent Calendar this morning - hopefully they will sell out quick and the temptation will disappear ---- until next time.

Ememem84 · 31/10/2015 00:40

Bought the most beautiful fluffy pair of eyelashes today for fancy dress black tie Halloween ball. Then. Dropped one down the toilet Sad

Finished clarins highlighter pen thingy.

So close to finishing perfume. Took it with me to ball. Tried to shift it off to other people but they were having none of it. Sad

Ememem84 · 31/10/2015 14:05

Perfume update. Finished!!!!

Now only a travel size lime basil and mandarin one to use and I can buy a new one!! Yippee!!

FiveShelties · 02/11/2015 11:14

A can of Sure Antiperspirant has gone - now to work on the numerous Mitcham Roll Ons lurking.
