Have name changed.

How old do I look? Please be honest. I know I have a fat face :( I am having hair cut on Saturday. Feel like I look frumpy. WDYT? What would you do? My hair is naturally straight.

I look shit with long hair, really straggly because my hair is fine.

I am not sure about my glasses but they cost a small fortune so I can't really justify changing them :(

I think side swept fringe is way to go, less heavy.

Dd and DH think you are early 40s and dd says get rid of the fringe and have it slightly longer with some layers

Anywhere from 30 - 45.
I think your fringe is too long and overwhelming you along with specs- and by contrast the sides are too flat.
Personally I'd let your hair grow another few inches.

scarletforya · 04/02/2015 21:12

The Kelly Clarkson one is perfect for you.

MrMcGintysGoat · 04/02/2015 21:12

I'm with Greengardenpixie too!
Dont have it cut shorter, just get a bit of choppiness put into it, and start growing it a bit longer.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 04/02/2015 21:12

You have lovely hair. a good colour and it's well cut, but I don't think you could have a worse shape for your face. Sorry, I don't want to be mean, just objective.

It looks like a helmet around your face to me and the round neckline adds to that effect.

I would suggest a more choppy and less structured hairstyle, new glasses, a makeup review and to get V necklines or a collar, avoid scooped or rounded.
If you have a tablet why don't you get a Pinterest account and save lots of styles that take your fancy, then have a long consultation with your stylist.

The important thing is to find a look that you like and that makes you feel good.

CountingThePennies · 04/02/2015 21:13

I think you look 30.

Tbh your hair looks fine to me

LoveVintage · 04/02/2015 21:14

I really like your glasses.

Right, spill. What age are you?

BlueBrightBlue · 04/02/2015 21:15

You have lovely hair and skin but the whole glasses, fringe ensemble makes you look like one of the crankies.
You need an edgy haircut and perhaps a v neck or whatever top.
Glasses are ok ish. Strong lippy and lots of mascara would accentuate your lovely eyes and smile.

namechange2468 · 04/02/2015 21:15

I think 35.

Totally agree with the Kelly Clarkson haircut- it would look fab on you.

pinkfrocks · 04/02/2015 21:18

The fringe starts too far back- you need to let some of it grow out and have a smaller and shorter fringe- it looks as if it is taking over half your scalp(front to back) and is way too heavy. Grow it out towards your crown and get the hairdresser to thin it slightly so it's more wispy.

And as others have said, brush it too the side to take some of the weight and fullness of your face because it's accentuating your jaw and chin.

Currently your hair stops at your chin and the sides look as if they are pointing to your double chin- it's not at all flattering and you could do better!

BlueBrightBlue · 04/02/2015 21:24

I can talk! my hair looks like something from one of the Lego people.
I'd accentuate your lovely eyes with a sweep of dark grey eye shadow and perhaps a charcoal eyeliner.
As for your hair I would get some low lights but nothing to post punk like bright red.
Half framed glasses would suit you better, the whole frame ones dominate your nice smiley face.
I want to give you a makeover.

pinkfrocks · 04/02/2015 21:26

Looking again at the first pic- do you have a parting or does the fringe start right at the crown with only a tiny parting? That's where you are going wrong mainly.

I know you didn't ask about clothes but the jumper with the 'fuzzy effect' and the large hearts isn't doing you any favours as both make you look rounder. Go for a V or scoop neck and fabrics that don't add inches by being fluffy or fuzzy.

oldladyhair · 04/02/2015 21:36

I do have a parting yes.

The jumper was a present from my Mum. Today I am in a scoop neck jersey top! I am so very fat I fear everything looks hideous.

I have a full face of make up on in both photos, clearly it is not working.

Ack.

I think you are mid 30s.
I agree with those saying that your hair is doing you no favours at all. Sorry!
I also have a round face and fine hair, and that hairstyle would be a total no-no for me.
If nothing else you need to make sure that you have a side parting and a side swept longer fringe. The photos posted upthread were great styles for you. Also the way that your hair curls under and around your face isn't the most flattering style for rounder faces. Just flicking the ends outwards instead of under when drying would make a massive difference if you want an immediate change? I'd love you to do that and post a photo of it!
I think your glasses look just fine, and suit you. You do have amazing skin and a lovely face, so don't let your haircut let you down.
I would also advise not going back to the same hairdresser you usually go to. You need to go to somebody who looks at you afresh and doesn't just do the same old thing. Good luck! Smile

mewkins · 04/02/2015 21:39

I would grow out the fringe / sweep it to the side and grow the rest out a bit but not too much. Layers perhaps. Keep the glasses!

BeaLola · 04/02/2015 21:44

Okay. First of all I think you are younger than me ! I am 46 . I think somewhere between 35-40/2 ?

I am for want of a better expression chubby. I also have fine hair, slightly lighter in colour and I think my dress sense is frumpy/safe. All that said fwiw I would have less heavier fringe, maybe layered so you could brush it to side, back etc . Perhaps experiment with a side parting, side fringe and I would definitely grow it by an inch or two to give you some further options. Depending on lighting and how much of a change you want some highlights ? Re clothing - a brighter co'our near to your face ? Your skin looks great and you look like a lovely person.

foreverton · 04/02/2015 21:45

Hiya op! Firstly I think you're very brave to post your pic, good on you!
I've had a fringe, a heavy fringe my whole life.
Last week I dyed my hair a different shade and clipped my fringe back out of curiosity, I looked so different.
Lots of people told me I looked younger and I've again a lot of confidence.
Sometimes a change does you the world of good.
I wish I was brave enough to post my before and after pics:(
I'm not good at guessing ages but you look lovely.
P.s I've got a big forehead but feel so much better without all that fringe, I was hiding behind it, literally at times x

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/02/2015 21:48

32

321zerobaby · 04/02/2015 21:51

I'd say early 30's. you have lovely skin. I think you should grow your hair a little bit longer at the front, so it doesn't curl round your face, more sit on your shoulders, and a few layers in the fringe, a bit of texture all round. Have a look a The lovely Dawn French's hair, she has straight glossy hair like you, always looks amazing.

I am a bit embarrassed to reveal my age now.

I am 30 :( Everyone irl tells me I look younger.

Clearly need some work doing on myself.

OP posts:
MrsTawdry · 04/02/2015 21:53

No I think it's a combo of the glasses and that fringe OP. Nothing to do with work needed...you just need to get your face revealed. The fringe plus glasses is hiding it!

I'd say one or the other...get a side swept fringe...the glasses and fringe are cutting your face in half.

TheHappinessTrap · 04/02/2015 21:53

I'm surprised at the age ranges you're getting. Is that normal for you? I'm so curious to now how old you are now. Is have said late 20's maybe early 30's?
