What stops you showering every day?

I hate showering!

I find any excuse to avoid showering as soon as I get up. Things like I'm doing housework or gardening and I'll shower later are my usual excuses.

I'm not sure what would make me want to shower first thing, I just like getting on with my day.

I'm not a public health hazard, I do wash - just can't be arsed to shower every day.

I find it wakes me up nicely.
And it's quick and easy.
The only thing that stops me having my morning shower is if I've had a bath the previous evening.

We try to keep our gas and electric bills down, so the cost of heating up the water. Thinking of costs, I'd like to keep a shower to every other day, but I have days when I feel grotty and want one or I give in late afternoon and have one (as I didn't have one that morning). If I don't shower I have a proper wash with a clean flannel.

magicalmrmistofelees · 01/10/2014 11:02

I hate not showering every day! I don't feel ready to start the day until I've showered. For some reason it really affects my mood! If you force yourself to do it, it will just become habit.

StrawberryMouse · 01/10/2014 11:03

I have very long, thick hair which I only wash twice a week and takes so, so long to dry, straighten, curl etc. The thought of messing it up with water / vapour stops me showering in the morning but I do usually have a bath every night.

Showy · 01/10/2014 11:08

I don't have a shower. And standing starkers under her next door's faulty drainpipe with just a soap on a rope to hide my modesty is upsetting the horses.

kaykayblue · 01/10/2014 11:44

I love showering.

I find it very refreshing, to come out all nice and clean. I tend to shower in the evening rather than the morning though.

I also tend to do a lot of sport which leaves me literally dripping in sweat, so not showering is not really an option. Just thinking about it makes me shudder....

DarylDixonsDarlin · 01/10/2014 11:54

The children pretty much put paid to me getting a first thing shower, but I either do it after I've taken the older ones to school, or if I've got lots of housework to do, I shower before I go and collect them from school. At weekends sometimes ill shower first thing if we're going out early, otherwise I do it after I've done any house jobs/breakfast cooking etc. Sometimes I skip it on one of the weekend days!

IAmNotDarling · 01/10/2014 11:57

I shower before bed!

Greydog · 01/10/2014 12:02

Can't be bothered

IrianofWay · 01/10/2014 12:03

Nothing! Knowing I am going for a run sometime in the morning might stop me having a shower first thing but only because I knew I'd have one when I got back.

Enb76 · 01/10/2014 12:05

We don't need to shower everyday so why waste the water and electricity. I shower every other day unless I've been playing sport in which case I shower straight afterwards.

Castlemilk · 01/10/2014 12:05

Nothing- it only takes a minute, you do it without even thinking.

Callmegeoff · 01/10/2014 12:07

The fact I haven't got a shower and can't be arsed to run a bath. Shower going in next month and I will use it daily though.

specialsubject · 01/10/2014 12:09

I bathe/shower in the evening so I go to bed clean. I get dirty during the day doing stuff, not at night asleep. More time in the evening too.

whataloadofoldshit · 01/10/2014 12:23

Nothing. Takes a couple of minutes max. Wakes me up, couldn't start the day with what feels like a covering of being asleep and sweatiness. I do it without thinking.

TheEnchantedForest · 01/10/2014 12:30

My dry skin...Showering everyday is really not kind to my skin some do every other day. Still clean though!

OwlCapone · 01/10/2014 12:36

it only takes a minute

Not if you shower properly. Wink

ElephantsNeverForgive · 01/10/2014 12:36

Waste of time, water, shampoo, soap, money, the earths resources and an unnecessary cause of laundry and condensation.

Why on Earth wash yourself if your not dirty!

Coughle · 01/10/2014 12:38

I like it once I'm in there but I have a really hard time with the transition from dry/clothed to naked/wet.

pinkfrocks · 01/10/2014 12:39

The fact that other people might find me a bit whiffy??

After lying in bed for 7-8 hours and sweating- yes- you do sweat even if you don't wake up feeling damp- then imo it's pretty essential to shower if you are going to be mingling with other people.

I have a shower in the morning and a bath in the evening.

MissPepperpot83 · 01/10/2014 12:41

I love a morning shower to wake me up however I have eczema so sometimes forfeit a shower for the sake of my skin. Usually having one every other day during bad spells and in the winter or if I know i'll be exercising that day (two showers a day would do my skin no favours). I have to add I do wash my underarms etc though on these days. Wouldn't feel clean otherwise. I also have curly dry hair so it does it good not to wash it daily.

pinkfrocks · 01/10/2014 12:42

Reading all the comments, it's really surprising that some posters think that the point of a shower is to remove dirt. Unless you are doing a mucky manual job then surely you are never going to be dirty- but sweat and secretions on naughty bits are certainly going to be there.

carrielou2007 · 01/10/2014 12:44

Nothing! I shower every day and jump in the bath most nights after dc. Always been a morning person as soon as I had my dc I get up/shower etc before they get up. I feel vile if I don't. Wakes me up after being up all night with still not sleeping through dc3 . Wouldn't be comfortable going to work wearing dirty clothes so why would I want a dirty body Wink

Fairylea · 01/10/2014 12:47

I love a shower every morning. And washing my hair. I couldn't go out unless I've had one...! I love to smell all freshly showered and clean.

The thought of not showering every morning makes me shudder!

TeaAddict235 · 01/10/2014 12:54

I have to shower regularly as I can smell myself if I don't. Also i'd hate to be caught out DTD if I hadn't washed and was a bit pongwhiffy. not being clean robs me of my confidence with DH during "special time"Grin
